Back on wiki + New project!

I am back on wiki for the fore-seeable future, and I have started a new project! I will be createing articles for all games that do not have a article on wikipedia, rangeing from the Fairchild Channel F to the Sony PlayStation 3, there will be exceptions such as bulid in games and ports (In that case all ports will be combined in to 1 article) but apart from that I will be createing a article for pretty much any game on any console that lacks a article. Since this is quite a big job, this may take a while, so I'll let my fellow wikipedians know how I'm getting on. mcjakeqcool Mcjakeqcool (talk) 16:06, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Here I am going to demostrate the diffence between a article that has been wikified and one that has not, as some wikipeidans I belive have been confused other what is a wikified artilce and what is not... Non-Wikified article... WikiProject: Launch titles discontinuation

I am going to take the move to discounine my WikiProject revolving around my launch titles, offial name: WikiProject: Launch titles as it appears to have been a commercial faliure, also noted, similar WikiProjects will take a different strategy when hosted by User mcjakeqcool. mcjakeqcool Mcjakeqcool (talk) 09:20, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Layman's terms

Ok, I'm gonna put it down in layman's terms as some wikipedians seem to have been confused with my newsflash revolving around WikiProject: Launch titles discontinuation. Here goes... My edits to wikipedia are good, alright... they are the honey to sweeten the milk, they are good thing for wikipeida. In laymans terms a commercial faliure is a string of edits that have received a large number of complaints, as my string of edits did. I hope my statement will be a commercial sucsess or in layman's terms a good string of text on my talk page. mcjakeqcool Mcjakeqcool (talk) 14:44, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Mcjakeqcool

A tag has been placed on Mcjakeqcool requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Movingboxes (talk) 17:27, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam); and,
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Commodore international, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Commodore International. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 17:38, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have turned your article into a redirect to the existing article Commodore 64 Games System which covers the subject more fully. It's a good thing, when you plan a new article, to do a search to see whether Wikipedia covers it already - if so, you may be able to contribute by editing the existing article. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 17:40, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • No problem. When you post a message on a talk page, it helps everyone know who said what when if you end it with four "tilde" characters ~~~~, which the system automatically turns into a "signature" of your username plus the time and date - like this: JohnCD (talk) 17:49, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Typo redirect Turbograpix-16

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Turbograpix-16, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Turbograpix-16 is a redirect page resulting from an implausible typo (CSD R3).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Turbograpix-16, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. To see the user who deleted the page, click here CSDWarnBot (talk) 17:10, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

An article you created has been replaced by a redirect to a pre-existing article. It now leads directly to Christmas and holiday season. In the future, please remember to see if there are already articles on a topic before creating a new one! Thanks! If you have any questions about this, the author of this note, or any Wikipedia policy, be sure to ask on my talk page! --Alinnisawest,Dalek Empress (extermination requests here) 19:08, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Minor edits

It would be appreciated if you please think carefully before ticking the box "This is a minor edit" when editing pages. Minor edits are only edits of which there is no chance a user will dispute such as spelling corrections, minor format changes, or removing vandalism. Content removal such as [11] is not a minor edit. Ticking this box appropriately is good etiquette for other users, please review Help:Minor edit for more info. Thank you and happy editing. Camaron | Chris (talk) 20:28, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No need for apologies, I was not offended as you are new user and it is understandable that you may misuse the minor edit box - I confess I did myself when I first joined Wikipedia. However I wish to thank you for your friendly and understanding response. I notice you did not recive a welcome, so I will give you one now...

Welcome!

Hello, Mcjakeqcool, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}} before the question. Again, welcome!

I notice you commented above that you can't edit the Wii article, that is because it has been semi-protected due to vandalism, meaning that only autoconfirmed logged in user accounts can edit it. An autoconfirmed account is currently one that has existed for four days and has made at least 10 edits. You created your account at 18:21, 29 August 2008 UTC/GMT and have made over 10 edits so you will be autoconfirmed at 18:21, 2 September 2008 UTC/GMT. Once this happens you can edit the Wii article and other semi-protected pages, move pages, upload files and pictures, and have a few other benefits. Happy editing. Camaron | Chris (talk) 16:31, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

PlayStation 2

Could you please provide an more detailed explanation of your edits to the PlayStation 2 article in the article's talk page (Talk:PlayStation 2)? I don't quite understand the thinking behind them. Dancter (talk) 16:40, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 19:16, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Battlemorph

A tag has been placed on Battlemorph requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 06:57, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I can't tell specifics now because it was deleted and I don't have access to it, but basically it was too short to tell us why it is notable, and had no references from independent, reliable sources. You can try again, but give us more information this time. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 19:20, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Just make sure that the subjects are notable and that you have references from reliable sources. You might also want to check out the Video Games WikiProject. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 17:00, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Signing talk articles

As a courtesy to other editors, it is a Wikipedia guideline to sign your posts on talk pages, user talk pages, and WikiProject pages. To do so, simply add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your comments. Your user name or IP address (if you are not logged in) and the date will then be automatically added along with a timestamp when you save your comment. Signing your comments helps people to find out who said something and provides them with a link to your user/talk page (for further discussion). For further info, read Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines. Thank you. --Oscarthecat (talk) 14:27, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Insert pictures

I have reverted your edit to Wikipedia:FAQ because that is not the place to request help. You have to upload an image before it can be inserted in an article. See Wikipedia:Images and beware of copyrighted images. You can ask for help at Wikipedia:Help desk, or at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions if it's about copyright. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Kabuki Warriors.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Kabuki Warriors.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:12, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Talk in articles

Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia! I noticed that you recently added commentary to an article here. Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit you made to Versions and ports of Doom has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thank you. AfD nomination of Gizmondo 2

I have nominated Gizmondo 2, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gizmondo 2. April 2009

Please remember to mark your edits, such as your recent edits to Talk:PlayStation 2, as minor if (and only if) they genuinely are minor edits (see Help:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearranging of text without modifying content should be flagged as a 'minor edit.' Thank you. TreyGeek (talk) 14:17, 6 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I can tell you that my edits were minor, because they were edits to a talk page, as a apose to a article, meaning that they only contributed to the talk page and did not change a article, I only mark edits down as minor edits if they are edits to a talk page, or small edits to a article, e.g a change in a computer games releace date if the article got the releace date wrong, however If I wanted to make some major edits like give a bio to a console in a console wars article, I would not mark that down as a minor edit. Does this help you understand the situation better? mcjakeqcool Mcjakeqcool (talk) 14:41, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
It helps me understand why you mark your comments on talk pages as minor. However, you are still incorrectly marking your talk page edits as minor. The same policy to main space articles applies to talk pages for marking edits as minor.
Also, it is in good practice to keep talk conversations on the same talk page. In other words, you reply to comments on the same talk page and not spread them out on two or more talk pages as you just did.
I would highly advise that you scroll up and review the information that someone kindly gave you a while back in welcoming you to Wikipedia. It seems you missed a few sections. --TreyGeek (talk) 14:50, 6 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to encourage you to use the preview button before submitting changes to any article. Your recent edits to PlayStation 2 caused the table you were editing to 'break' leading to a major formatting problem with the entire article. I have fixed your mistakes. I would also like to encourage you to be sure that you make all appropriate changes. If sales numbers need to be changed, change all references to sales numbers in the article (the PS2 article has 4 references to the number of units sold world-wide). Making all such changes keeps the information the same throughout the article and leads to less confusion. Finally, I would like to encourage you to read through WP:CITE and WP:CIT on how to properly cite your sources. Thank you. --TreyGeek (talk) 14:41, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits to dedicated console listnig

Please do not re-add previously removed obscure consoles. That listing was decided, by consensus, to be for consoles notable to that generation, i.e. representative. It is not a listing of every single console, which exists in other formats here already (such as clicking on the generation links to the side). --Marty Goldberg (talk) 18:55, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mcjakeqcool, there was a discussion on what the template is about and an agreement on consensus. This has nothing to do with 72.89.95.234. Nobody is saying the articles should go or they're not notable enough to be on wikipedia. However, Wikipedia does have policies against long lists, which is what this becomes listing every single console. Why is it you have to keep doing stuff like this almost every time you try and contribute? --Marty Goldberg (talk) 16:17, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Spitfire (game)

Creating new articles

Howdy! I noticed you have been creating some new articles. It appears these articles contain a single sentence with a single URL in between brackets ([]). So far, all of these articles you have created have been nominated for deletion, one way or another. You defend the articles stating that they are good stubs. I think, many editors would disagree, and based on the results of the deletion requests thus far that appears to be the case. If you wish to continue creating new articles, great! I would suggest you review Wikipedia:Article development as it gives good, helpful information on creating articles. Beyond that it would probably be best to add more content to your created articles other than a single sentence. Then you will want to properly cite your sources; WP:CIT has been of help to me in providing templates for citing sources. I hope you take these comments as helpful advice. --TreyGeek (talk) 17:10, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Atari 2600 games

Thanks for your recent stubs of some Atari 2600 games. Please wikify them when creating this short articles. For categorization you can add at least category:Atari 2600 games, even better when you add a genre category (see Category:Video games by genre) too. And please set a wikilink to Atari 2600 in the article. How to do this can you e.g. in your recent stub Arcade Pinball (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Arcade_Pinball&action=edit). And please add more content like a gameplay and or an infobox. Otherwise the articles will possible be deleted if someone stumbles across them and do not like stubs. --Ilion2 (talk) 08:17, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I assume this [12] is your answer to this thread. By why do you place the answer on top of the page where it is very difficult to find? You can edit this paragraph with the [edit] button on the right side of every paragraph. So your answer could be find where it belongs to. --Ilion2 (talk) 16:47, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Quite honestly, I'm on the verge of nominating all of them for deletion. None contain any significant content, many do not seem to have any kind of notability other than trivial matters (ie one is the last 2600 game produced). I'm struggling to find a good reason why many of these need an article. --TreyGeek (talk) 20:13, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Apart from the fact that this articles are stubs, what criteria of WP:NOTE are not fullfilled so that you think these articles does not meet the criteria for notability? I did not find any special inclusion guidelines for games or video games. For me are short informations better than no informations. Perhaps Mcjakeqcool can expand the articles. --Ilion2 (talk) 21:48, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I respond with the first point of WP:NOTE:

"Significant coverage" means that sources address the subject directly in detail, and no original research is needed to extract the content. Significant coverage is more than a trivial mention but it need not be the main topic of the source material.

Take Alpha Beam with Ernie for example (I picked one of the newly created articles at random). There are almost 3,000 hits on Google. However, when you look at the content of those hits it's hard to find anything more than what is already in the article. Thus it appears, in my opinion, that it does not have significant coverage and the article does nothing to suggest it does (and that I missed it).
Several weeks ago I offered advice to Mcjakeqcool on doing more to improve the articles he created (see the section before this one) after his last round of one or two sentence article creations. (Of which nearly all were deleted or turned into redirects.) So, I would presume this is their attempt at expanding on articles. --TreyGeek (talk) 22:06, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
MobyGames is a good choice to find more informations, here [13] they are. These [14] [15] looks nice too. Perhaps this [16] might help too. Alpha Beam with Ernie looks good now. I do not expect to find more significant coverage via Google of a childrens video game from 1983 in a few minutes which I only need. Aren't hard to find informations a good reason to fill this hole via Wikipedia? --Ilion2 (talk) 07:44, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I went ahead and nominated 32 in 1, Acid Drop, Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (video game), Airlock (video game), Air Raiders, and Arcade Pinball for deletion. None of these have any real content, and the notability is highly questionable. 76.214.61.11 (talk) 15:38, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed collaboration on Assault (Atari 2600)

I saw Artillery Duel/Spike's Peak had been brought to AFD, and I am afraid that some people may look at Assault (Atari 2600) and think that too is deserving of deletion. I mean no disrespect, but I think you would agree that the Assault (Atari 2600) article could do with a work-up (in terms of style, source format, maybe more content e.t.c). I had experience with doing up articles, and I think this one can be brought not only to the level of hopefully preventing an AFD nomination, but maybe even to DYK. Would you be open to a collaboration between us? Otumba (talk) 18:37, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nice, thank you. If you agree with this as a first step, I think you and I should find as many sources as we can on the game, and list them on the discussion page of the article. Otumba (talk) 18:54, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Heya. I've seen what's happened to the article, and I wanted to say don't worry about it. Many Wikipedians have made the same mistake, and have come on leaps and bounds since then. However, not wishing to labour the point made by another editor, copying text in this case was a big no-no. We have a chance to make amends, in that we can work on a temporary page, Talk:Assault (Atari 2600)/Temp. I know this isn't exactly collaboration, but I think I should work on the temporary page alone for now. The reason is, and I am sorry if I come across as rude, you don't seem fully up to grabs with Wikipedia policies and guidelines. It might help if I do this article up, then we can work on crossing the Ts and dotting the Is together, and my foundation can serve as an example for you on further work you undertake. New Wikipedia article tips

I read your "demonstration" and I think you're completely missing the point about how to Wikify an article. Your example looks nothing like what a properly written Wikipedia article should look like, and it seems to me you need some help with this.

No offense, but the articles you have created so far are poorly written at best and confusing and horrible to read through at worst. They are also missing all but the most basic information, leading them to be tagged as "non-notable". I believe before starting any new articles you should at least take a look at these pages: Wikipedia:Starting an article, Wikipedia:Article development and Wikipedia:Manual of Style. These are helpful and valuable guides and guidelines used by the site to ensure pages on Wikipedia conform to basic formatting principles which make them effective and easy to read, and also lead to informative articles being written.

Take a look back at your Alpha Beam with Ernie article. This is an example of one of your articles that has now been properly improved and Wikified by other users. A good idea is to copy the formatting and text in place for that article and use it for new articles, replacing the existing text with the information on the new article that you have gathered. This way your article will come under less scrutiny, and may even form a good anchor to be expanded into a great article.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.106.79.229 (talk) 06:37, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to second this person's advice. Mcjakeqcool, I notice you replied to the above comments on the IP's talk page. Though you have corrected some horrendous spelling today, the articles are still not "Wikified," do not contain much of anything in the way of content, and shows nothing to denote these articles are about a notable subject. If something is not done to truly improve these articles soon, do not be surprised to see them deleted or redirected to other pages. --TreyGeek (talk) 01:46, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion to seek adoption

I don't wish to sound mean, but I think you should generally stop editing Wikipedia for now. The reason is, as judged from your talk page, you're not totally up to grasp with Wikipedia policies and guidelines and hence the large amount of material you have added which has been deleted. Wikipedia editors are here to help, but if you keep adding stuff that eventually gets deleted some people's urge to help may turn to impatience. I highly recommend you seek Adoption, where an experienced member of the community takes you under his or her wing and teaches you how to operate successfully on Wikipedia. I would adopt you, but I have tasks in backlog which I must address. To learn more about the Adoption programme, and how to apply, see WP:ADOPT. Otumba (talk) 22:06, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mcjakeqcool- I agree with Otumba's suggestion. Though Wikipedia is described as the encyclopedia anybody can edit, the actual process can be quite daunting. If you are interested in adoption, I'd be happy to help you acclimate to Wikipedia. In addition to being on Wikipedia for a number of years, I also edit video game-related articles, which looks to be you area of interest. I'm on a semi-break for a while, but have been checking in regularly. Just leave me a message on my talk page if you do want to pursue adoption. (Guyinblack25 talk 22:16, 23 July 2009 (UTC))[reply]
Mcjakecool- Forgive my forwardness, but I'm not certain you fully understand the concept of adoption on Wikipedia. I would not "adopt" your userpage to edit it or control it in anyway. I would "adopt" you as an editor. Adoption is probably a poor term for it because it is really a mentorship. If you have any questions about the technical side to editing, you can ask me. If you have a question about the meaning of a specific guideline or policy, you can ask me. If you are stuck in a discussion about something, you can ask my opinion on it.
Adoption doesn't even have to be formal, there are several editors that have asked for my opinion or interpretation of things for a while now (feel free to check my talk page archives if you'd like). And I never adopted a single one of them. They wanted some help, so I did what I could because they are my fellow editor. A favor they return to me when I need help.
So to re-iterate, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask. There are numerous editors with a wealth of knowledge that would be willing to work with you in your area of interest. But we all have to work within Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. This is Wikipedia's playground, so we have to play by its rules. (Guyinblack25 talk 14:57, 27 July 2009 (UTC))[reply]

I have nominated Armor Battle (Mattel/INTV), an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Armor Battle (Mattel/INTV). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Proposed deletion of Blue Print

The article Blue Print has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

non-notable game, lacks 3rd party sources

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. RadioFan (talk) 18:35, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

You have been temporarily blocked from editing Wikipedia for repeatedly causing disruption to the project. I'm sorry to have to take this action, as you seem to be acting in good faith, and perhaps don't realise that you are being disruptive. However, you have been asked by several experienced editors to stop creating very short articles, yet have stated on more than one occasion that you will continue your actions.
Community consensus about one specific article is being established here. Please read those comments to see what is wrong with this type of stub.
You are welcome to contribute when your block expires in 31 hours. If you want to create articles about games, I advise that you spend the time researching and writing about one game at a time. It is important to cite reliable sources in your work -- that game site you are citing is not a reliable source. The JPStalk to me 18:38, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The reason I have requested to be unblocked is because the time on my computer is a hour short of the time according to wikipedia, so theoretically my block is over. This is not and should not be mistaken for a appeal. mcjakeqcool 15:43, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Unsolicited suggestion

Lengthy post: skip to fifth paragraph for the main idea

Mcjakeqcool- After reading through your news section, I think I have a better understanding of what you hope to accomplish. The way I see it—and please correct me if I'm wrong—you hope to create a complete listing of video games on Wikipedia. I assume you're doing this because Wikipedia is the free encyclopedia that anybody can edit and few to no websites offer a truly complete listing of video games. So no matter the age, popularity, or obscurity people can find info about that game.

So given this worthwhile cause that you're trying to do for your fellow gamers, I can see why you'd react the way you have to the actions directed toward you. That being said, I can see why they have reacted as they have as well. The reason is because of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, which I'm sure you've found there to be many of. I'm certain others have explained them to you, so I won't bore you with a repeat. I do, however, hope you can tolerate my long post to read some advice.

While I think seeing an article for every video game out there would be awesome, I believe it to be impossible. Not because there are too many games to do that or some people just don't care. It is impossible because every article on Wikipedia must demonstrate notability and verifiability. In short, every video game doesn't get a free pass. Each article must present content that is sourced by reliable third-party sources. This puts some older games at a disadvantage because their history wasn't documented by the web like more contemporary titles.

However, it is possible to create good quality articles about older games, you just need to know the ins and outs of doing it. See Bubbles (video game) and Computer Bismarck. Neither are particularly well-known games and both are fairly old, but I believe the articles are informative (biased opinion, I know). Those article would never get taken to AfD because the content cites reliable sources that establish notability.

Now, the point of my lengthy squawking is that perhaps instead of focusing on making a lot of short articles, it would benefit Wikipedia and its readers better if you focused on making a small amount of lengthy articles. Quality over quantity if you will. Older games are grossly underrepresented on Wikipedia, so more editors willing to work on them are welcome assets. We just need to do it a certain way if we're going to do it on Wikipedia.

If you'd like to read up on some tips about writing video game articles, some editors and I drafted a writing guide just for that purpose. And adoption or not, I try to make myself available for questions to my fellow editors. Just drop me note on my talk page if you have a question. Again, sorry for the lengthy post, especially an unsolicited one at that. But I hope you'll take us up on our offers to help. We'd much rather work with you than against you. (Guyinblack25 talk 15:49, 28 July 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to List of Atari 5200 games, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. TreyGeek (talk) 15:18, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

@TreyGeek : Please explain why you think your edits like [17] and [18] are consistent with our policy of verifiability and where the difference is to the edits you reverted from . Thanks. --Ilion2 (talk) 16:19, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure this is the appropriate forum to discuss my edits (my talk page would likely be better). Edits to the list of NASCAR races lacking citations falls in the same realm as Harry_Potter_and_the_Chamber_of_Secrets#Synopsis, CSI:_Miami#Characters, and Catch_me_if_you_can#Plot. I forget the exact reasoning, but it falls into the realm of common knowledge (due to being on TV, in Film, or easily available book).
If you feel any of my edits are incorrect, not sufficiently sourced, or has other problems, do not hesitate to revert them and let me know why. I fully accept the road goes both ways. --TreyGeek (talk) 12:28, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sure this is an appropriate form to discuss your edits. You started here a disussion, so you should not wonder that your words will be answered. I see no essential difference between your edits listed above and the edits you removed. To verify your edits or the edits from Mcjakeqcool it is required to use e.g. Google or go to a library. It is not more common knowledge that Tony Stewart is a pole sitter at Daytona [19] than that Bounty Bob Strikes Back had a maxium of 1 player at once and used a Joystick [20]. This can easily be verified using Google, one source for this is [21]. So the reason to remove the content from Mcjakeqcool is just not correct. Why not asking for the sources? Why not searching for them yourself? Just removing is destructive, not constructive. This content may be wrong placed in a list article, but that is another thing. --Ilion2 (talk) 14:23, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List formatting

Mcjakeqcool - please read up on how lists work in Wikipedia. The List of Atari 5200 games that you are trying to edit is intended as a list of links, which means that you cannot add content into it in the way that you recently tried to do, and were reverted by TreyGeek.

You could try creating an article called something like Other Atari 5200 games in which you listed each game that has no article as a subsection, and added a couple of sentences about it. This would then allow you to direct the redlinks on the list article to sections in your article, eg Other Atari 5200 games#Adventure 2 would link to

Adventure 2

Adventure 2 is a single player, maze, adventure game published by AtariAge in 2007.

You would need to write an introductory para and establish why Atari 5200 games in general are notable (to satisfy WP:N), but you'd only need to find one reference for each game - and the player's handbook or something similar would do fine for that, as you're only verifying that the game is as described. I'd build the page in your sandbox (click here to open a sandbox page User:Mcjakeqcool/sandbox) and launch it when it is complete.

If challenged, you could make a good case that the subject (Atari 5200 games) is notable, and the information is good and should not be lost, without trying to create little stub articles for everything.Elen of the Roads (talk) 10:18, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I disagree with the idea that List of Atari 5200 games should only be a list of links as Category:Atari 5200 games already accomplishes that. I think the list could become something more informative, and if the sources exist, even a Featured list. Some video game examples include List of Virtual Boy games, List of Space Invaders video games, and List of Wario video games. So descriptive information about the individual games seem appropriate to me.
All that's missing to get things started is a little structure to the list. Given the short length, might I suggest first party, third party and canceled sections. Or having it a sortable table organized first alphabetically is a common trend for such lists. (Guyinblack25 talk 14:01, 30 July 2009 (UTC))[reply]
Equally cool. The problem was with creating a hybrid list.--Elen of the Roads (talk) 15:20, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Look, there is already a Microcosm (video game) article in place, which is about the exact same game. I have redirected that article to there. Please improve existing articles rather than creating articles on the exact same thing but under another title. It can be found to be disruptive. While I'm at it, please stop adding descriptions for selected list entries on lists. The lists you edited are not designed to contain descriptions (mainly per WP:SIZE limitations) but for grouping and navigation. Since you have already been informed about this and chosen not to follow said information, I am assuming your editing lists like this is disruptive. You have already been blocked once for disruption, and if you get blocked again for the same thing, it will be for a longer period of time. Dozens of editors have extended to offer you help in understanding how we conduct ourselves here, how we edit there, etc.; but you have so far refused every one of them. Thank you, MuZemike 15:36, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List formatting (again)

Please do not keep adding summaries to the "List of ..." articles, they're just a list. --Oscarthecat (talk) 14:36, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Repeatedly adding summaries to List Of articles despite numerous warnings

This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits, such as those you made to List of PlayStation 2 games. If you vandalize Wikipedia again, you will be blocked from editing. Oscarthecat (talk) 19:03, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

September 2009

Your recent addition to List of Wii games has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. TreyGeek (talk) 00:24, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also, you do realize that all of your edits are being reverted, correct? With so many people going against you, don't you think it's time to start doing something that could be truly constructive? --TreyGeek (talk) 00:31, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Again, do not add summaries to lists

Why are you having so much trouble understanding this. List articles are either lists of bluelinks for navigation, or text lists with summaries. Not both on the same page. As has been suggested before, create a page titled Other ... games, and create one article which lists all the games that don't have articles. Poker game article

I'm about to stick a PROD on that article, but before I do, I thought I'd try to highlight some of the problems.

First - and the reason it would warrant a PROD - is that it has no sources and makes no claim of notability. Yes this game probably exists (although you might have made it up), but why is it of sufficient notability to keep it in the encyclopaedia. Given your known history of creating articles about subjects for which there are no references, and which the community at large have previously agreed are not notable, you are on a hiding to nothing .

Second - you don't actually have that much information to convey and - more seriously - there is no suggestion that there actually is any more information out there.

Third - in three sentences you have fifteen spelling and formatting errors. If you cannot be bothered to spell things correctly, or learn the very small amount of wiki markup required to wikify (ie add wikilinks, add categories) an article, then it makes it unlikely that your offerings will be held in high regard, particularly given items one and two above.

Ken Uston's Blackjack/Poker is a Colecovision[1][2] launch title. Gameplay consists of playing a few hands of Blackjack[3] or Poker[4], the Minimum[5] bet is $1 and maximum is $499, up to 4 people can play simultaneously but there is also a option to go one-on-one with the dealer. The genere[6] is Strategy[7] and a Colecovision[8] is required to play the cartridge.

Fourth - this IS a stub article. To mark an article as a stub, use the {{stub}} template, or any of the templates that the gaming projects have developed, such as {{arcade-stub}}. If the article had grown beyond a stub, the stub template can be removed. Typing some random nonsense about stubs at the bottom of the article does nothing to endear you. If you want to know how the formatting is done, just click the edit button on a correctly formatted article, and see what goes where. If you click the dropdown marked Insert below the edit box, you will get the option of some wiki markup tools which may help. Elen of the Roads (talk) 20:45, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Use of English

From Mcjakeqcool news "I am going to take the move to discounine my WikiProject revolving around my launch titles, offial name: WikiProject: Launch titles as it appears to have been a commercial faliure, also noted, similar WikiProjects will take a different strategy when hosted by User mcjakeqcool." Also your previous comment about something being a commercial success. May I venture a guess that English is not your first language?

  • A "commercial success" means that something made money. A commercial failure makes no money. I am concerned that you referred to your last disruption, which resulted in a large quantity of your edits being reverted, as a commercial success. If you are making money from creating Wikipedia articles, you must declare it as a potential conflict of interest. On the other hand, if this is a misunderstanding of the English term and you mean something else, you should not use the phrase "commercial success".
  • Wiki Project - a Wiki Project is (essentially) a group of users of common purpose and interest. It is not a proposal for activity by an individual user. You should stop referring to your intentions as Wiki Projects.
  • Hosted by User mjakeqcool - to host something means to have it on your own website servers. Anything you put on Wikipedia is hosted by Wikipedia, which is why you have to follow Wikipedia's rules.--Elen of the Roads (talk) 21:25, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

And while we're on the subject, using a running commentary about yourself (yes, I am referring to Mcjakeqcool News) instead of actually responding to questions, tends not to make people happy either. I'm going to copy your response made above down here, so it is clear that it is the answer to my questions. --Elen of the Roads (talk) 19:21, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I hope my statement will be a commercial sucsess or in layman's terms a good string of text on my talk page. mcjakeqcool Mcjakeqcool (talk) 14:44, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Unfortunately, so far most of your edits have been bad, and have done nothing for wikipedia, and have been removed. Let's hope we can turn this around, and your future contributions all receive compliments. Elen of the Roads (talk) 19:29, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Need some help?

Mcjakeqcool- Just checking in to see how things are going. I also wanted to remind you that I'm available to answer any questions you may have about editing video game articles. If there's an article you wanted to work on, I can help you find sources or copy edit the content. Feel free to leave me a message on my talk page about help. (Guyinblack25 talk 19:43, 14 September 2009 (UTC))[reply]

My talk page is always open, so please feel free to ask anything about editing on Wikipedia. Whether it's about using Wikipedia's Wiki markup, understanding a complicated policy/guideline, or finding sources for video game articles. I'll try to respond in a timely manner. (Guyinblack25 talk 15:12, 15 September 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Looking for a project

I note above you say you're looking for a project. Since all your additions to the link list articles were removed, why don't you do what was originally suggested and create some articles like Other launch games for the Atari 5200, where you list all the ones that don't have articles, and include the couple of sentences of information about each one that you tried to add into the link lists. --Elen of the Roads (talk) 14:56, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Other launch games for the Atari 5200, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.  Blanchardb -MeMyEars•MyMouth- timed 14:34, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've contested the speedy and fixed the article a bit - but you need to start working on it very soon. Tim Song (talk) 14:45, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, but I also believe the material you intend to insert belongs in existing articles. I see no need to create a separate article here. -- Blanchardb -MeMyEars•MyMouth- timed 15:04, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

McJ, can I make something clear. "Collaboration" means "you and I work on something together". I am not collaborating with you on your articles because you could write all I know about console games on the back of a pixie's postage stamp, and you appeared to be the one with all the sources. What I am doing is offering advice on your approach to editing. However, you seem to be having some real difficulties in understanding what I write. I'll try again.

  • You started out creating stub articles about console games for which there were no sources other than the blurb on the side of the box. These all got deleted. BAD IDEA
  • You then when to the List of Acme Games type articles and started adding information about the redlinked games - the ones you had previously tried to create as stubs. These all got deleted. BAD IDEA.
  • You then went back to creating stubs about a different set of console games for which there were no sources. These all got deleted. BAD IDEA.
  • What you have done now is create a list called "other games for X console", which only lists the games that already have articles. Given that the games that do have articles (all three of them) are already listed in the article on the console. So this is going to be speedied. BAD IDEA.

What I said to do was to create an article that listed all the games for the Atari whatever that DON'T already have articles. Include all the information you have on each one, and a lead paragraph for the article, that starts "The Atari whatever was a hugely successfull games console, with many games. Galaxian (and the names of the other two) are the best known, but there were (whatever number) other games, ranging from (whatever - wasn't there a blackjack game??) to (another whatever) .

Start the article in your /sandbox, and it can be posted into mainspace when it is finished. Elen of the Roads (talk) 16:05, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries

Your edit summaries should actually say what you did. Simply saying you edited an article is obvious from the fact that there is an entry in the page history. You need to describe, briefly, the changes you've made.--Crossmr (talk) 10:21, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Minor edits

Please remember to mark your edits as minor if (and only if) they genuinely are minor edits (see Help:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearranging of text without modifying content should be flagged as a 'minor edit.' Thank you. --Crossmr (talk) 04:16, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No, they're not. Minor edits are exactly as they're described as above. Regardless of where you make them, article space, talk space, wikipedia, template, image, etc.--Crossmr (talk) 21:30, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Mcjakeqcool has been warned about this twice before [23] [24]. This, unfortunately, appears to be another area where Mcjakeqcool refuses to listen to the advice and suggestions of others. --TreyGeek (talk) 23:32, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

(From TreyGeek's talk page) I do take both advice and suggestions of the wikipeida community, however major edits, are never on a articles talk page. mcjakeqcool Mcjakeqcool (talk) 14:54, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please read the warning above that has been put on this page twice now. It is a standard warning message provided by Wikipedia by using the template {{subst:uw-minor}}. You see that this message, provided by Wikipedia as a standard warning, does not differentiate between main space articles and talk pages. Any edit that consists of more than correcting spelling, formatting, or other truly minor edits should not be marked as minor, including on talk pages. Three people have now told you this, why do you refuse to listen to us?
Also, it is in good form to keep a discussion on the same page. It makes it easier for others to view the entire discussion and comment if they wish. Therefore, if you have a response to this, you may include it below. I've got your talk page 'watched' so I'll know if you respond to it. --TreyGeek (talk) 00:10, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Again I'm going to agree with Trey. Marking edits as minor which are not minor and not heeding the reminders of other editors is considered disruptive editing. You've been reminded of this plenty of times and yet have failed to change your behaviour to edit according to the guidelines and policies of the community. Please stop editing disruptively.--Crossmr (talk) 01:57, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

(From TreyGeek's talk page) If you're judgement is correct, then edits of talk pages come under the category of edits that is other truly minor edits as it is not formatting nor correction of spelling. mcjakeqcool Mcjakeqcool (talk) 10:00, 17 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Other truely minor edits" is not simply editing talk pages. "Other truely minor edits" are those edits in which the content's changes are minor. Adding whole sections and sentences is not minor, as you have now been told by three different people. Again, I am astounded that when people try to help you and give you advice you argue the point. I'd like for you to read the article Help:Minor edit. In particular, go to the second section, "When not to mark an edit as minor" and read the fifth and last bullet point.
I'd also like to encourage you to once again keep your comments on this topic to this section. See the section WP:MULTI within Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines which specifically says to centralize discussions and to not spread them out as you have been doing. Some of us would like to see you being constructive within the Wikipedia community, however you must be willing to listen to what we have to say and not argue every point because you think you are correct. You may not be correct. The result is that your argumentativeness leads you to being disruptive. Descriptiveness leads to being blocked. I doubt you want that, so please, when advice is offered listen to it. If you don't believe it, use Wikipedia's resources to figure out what is correct. --TreyGeek (talk) 12:16, 17 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

(From TreyGeek's talk page) I would like to state that I am not a threat to wikipeida, and also I do not intend to damage or vandalize wikipeida in any-way, shape or form. However in defence of my recent edits, wikipeida talk pages to not have guidelines only wikipeida articles. I fail to make a statement in occurrence to marking talk page edits as minor. mcjakeqcool Mcjakeqcool (talk) 15:52, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Again, I would encourage you to read the Wikipedia pages that I linked in my last comments. You will see that talk pages are covered in Help:Minor edit and keeping conversations on the same talk page is covered in WP:MULTI. Read the statements before you say what is or is not covered in policy, guidelines and help pages. --TreyGeek (talk) 18:30, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Since you're clearly set on ignoring TreyGeek, let's try this again. From Help:Minor edit

When not to mark an edit as minor
   * Adding content to an article
   * Removing content from an article
   * Adding tags or other templates to an article
   * Removing tags or other templates from an article
   * Adding comments to a talk page <---------------can you see it yet?

Elen of the Roads (talk) 22:15, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently it didn't. if you don't stop making disruptive edits, we're going to take this back to AN/I.--Crossmr (talk) 23:17, 20 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You've been told by 3 users that your edits are disruptive. The whole reason you weren't blocked last time was because you said you were going to work with and listen to other users so that your editing was inline with the guidelines and policies of this community. You are failing to do so.--Crossmr (talk) 23:19, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Mcjakeqcool. This message is being sent to inform you that there currently is a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you.--Crossmr (talk) 00:05, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

October 2009

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 1 week for disruptive editing - persistently and purposely not conforming to Wikipedia community norms despite warnings and promises to reform. Please stop. You are welcome to make useful contributions after the block expires. If you believe this block is unjustified you may contest this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below. Tan | 39 01:17, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

Because I was on vacation when blocked and could not argue my side of the story at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.

Decline reason:

I cannot evaluate this request, since it does not address the reason for your block. FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 16:27, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

I do not believe there was a justifiable reason to block me in the first place

Decline reason:

You have been blocked for disrupting Wikipedia. You have repeatedly failed to to listen to advice offered by various different editors. Please learn from this when your block expires. Also, please do not request to be unblocked a third time, or I will have to block you from editing this page too. The JPStalk to me 15:56, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tell me if I'm wrong, but my original appeal was incorrect as I gave the reason to unblock me rather then the reason I think I was blocked? mcjakeqcool Mcjakeqcool (talk) 15:34, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Did you feel it was sensible to mark your unblock request as minor and not provide an edit summary? The JPStalk to me 15:57, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The reason I did not add a edit summary was because there was already a name for the concurrent section /* October 2009 */ and the reason I marked it as minor edit was because it was on a talk page & not a article. Mcjakeqcool (talk) 15:39, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
...which is the entire reason you're blocked at the moment. Tan | 39 15:40, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No comment. mcjakeqcool Mcjakeqcool (talk) 16:07, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
A successful request for unblock usually includes: (a) evidence that you have a full understanding of the reason for the block, and (b) a specific, plausible plan for editing more appropriately in future, or, alternately, (c) evidence that the block was an error, or (d) evidence that the block was a violation of a specific Wikipedia policy). -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 16:13, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Intentions

We can just get this out of the way now - considering your editing behavior while blocked, you have no intention of dropping your disruptive crusade, do you? If you don't, I think we should just move for a preventative indefinite block. Tan | 39 16:16, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed His comments above show that he continues to do what he wants (marking edits to talk pages as minor) even though that is one of the reasons he is currently blocked. I don't forsee Mcjakeqcool truly cooperating as an editor. --TreyGeek (talk) 17:25, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed He's shown zero understanding through multiple editors, blocks, etc and yet persists. He has his own ideas and they don't jive with wikipedia's.--Crossmr (talk) 08:14, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Wait a day or two to see if Guyinblack25's message below has any effect. If not, indef. Competence is required. Mcjakeqcool, if you are reading this, this is probably your last chance to avoid an indef block. Think about it. Carefully. Tim Song (talk) 08:21, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Obviously he's still doing that. Indef. Tim Song (talk) 19:54, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed No one doubts Mcjakeqcool's good faith. However, the rules & requirements for editting here are simple & are not a problem for the vast majority of people; if he can't conform to them, then he leaves us no choice. -- llywrch (talk) 20:05, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Note that he started a thread at ANI. Still marked his edit as minor, of course. Tim Song (talk) 20:08, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed Per the Categorical Imperative and Wikipedia Policy (rich coming from me but this is beyond a joke.)

Unsolicited comments

Mcjakeqcool- Please forgive the unsolicited comments again, but I think this recent matter is going down a road you don't really want. Which is unfortunate, because this looks be rooted in a misunderstanding of definitions. Many editors have informed you that you should include information in your edit summaries and appropriately mark minor edits. After reading your responses, I get the feeling that you don't believe the editors provided any concrete reason to change your habits. If I misinterpret this, please correct me.

To reiterate, I believe this is rooted in a difference of definitions: the definitions that you personally hold towards the terms you read, and the definitions the editors hold towards the terms they wrote. The above editors use the terms as defined by Wikipedia, which can sometimes be different or counter-intuitive to what the layman expects.

  • Edit summaries are brief explanations of edits to Wikipedia pages. This is an extra way editors can (and should) communicate with each other.
    • For example, this edit summary I left on an article talk page was to inform the editor I've been discussing on there that I added more comments to the discussion. This edit summary I left for an article was to inform other editors that I added another reference.
    • The greyed out text (like "Mid-October review" and "Development") is mainly for navigation purposes to let other editors know which section or in the case of talk pages, thread I'm responding to. Even though the section title is included in edit summaries, that doesn't tell others what you did to the page.
    • Sometimes you may want to put more than just a few words or sometimes a simple "reply to [NAME]" will be fine. Either way, the point is to communicate with your fellow editor to make it easy for everybody involved to follow the process.
    • If you'd like a reminder to fill out your edit summary, the "Editing" tab on Special:Preferences gives you the option to have reminders. It's the second checkbox from the bottom: "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary".
  • Minor edits are superficial differences to Wikipedia pages: typo corrections, formatting and presentational changes, rearrangement of text without modification of content, etc. This is another method to communicate with your fellow editors.
    • Incorrectly labeling edits as minor can lead to confusion or unnecessary disputes. For example, labeling something as minor when significant amounts of content has been added or changed is something that happens often when vandals are trying to trick editors.
    • I noticed you stated several times that you believed talk page edit were always minor. I believe you said that because Wikipedia's primary focus is the articles in the Main namespace. Again, please correct me if I'm wrong. By that logic, it makes sense that everything else would be "less important". However, that is not the case. All the namespaces on Wikipedia are to help articles convey information to its audience. Because of that, the Talk pages, Project pages, and others are treated the same as far as the policies and guidelines go.
    • So a minor edit to a talk page would be me correcting a typo or grammar mistakes, like this, or correcting a link, like this. Anything else is regular edit, like this.
  • To summarize, these two things are just methods to communicate with each other. It is courteous to do so and helps everyone keep pace with the process.

I hope you get this block matter sorted out, as I believe you mean well. For the most part, the editors you encounter here will want to work with you. But like every school, place of business, or website, Wikipedia has its own set of common phrases, culture and rules. And since we're playing in Wikipedia's playground, we have to follow its rules. Once you get better acquainted with these, I believe you will be fine here. Again, if you have any questions about policies, guidelines, etiquette, article editing, or whatever, you know how to reach me. (Guyinblack25 talk 17:39, 28 October 2009 (UTC))[reply]

http://gaming.wikia.com might be a better home for exhaustive coverage of old video games. Wikipedia only wants to cover the more important ones. 69.228.171.150 (talk) 19:38, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mcjakecool- Just to clarify, this edit to your talk page and this edit in the project space should not be marked as "minor". Regular edits like this one to your talk page and this one to an AfD are correctly labeled. Let me know if you understand the difference. (Guyinblack25 talk 20:56, 29 October 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Blocked

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for lack of general editing competence as discussed at WP:ANI ([25]). If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first.  Sandstein  07:35, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mcjakeqcool, please do not take this personally, but the discussion at ANI has determined that you can simply not write well enough, or follow the rules of Wikipedia well enough, to contribute usefully to our project. Because your contributions to articles are usually problematic in one way or another, what you are doing is creating additional work for other people rather than helping us build an encyclopedia. For this reason, I have removed your editing access. You are, of course, free to enjoy Wikipedia as a reader.

Should you ever feel that you have become proficient enough to begin editing Wikipedia again, I'd be happy to unblock you (or to see another administrator do it.) But we'd need to see proof that you can at least write a short, useful article. If you want to do this, please read the instructions at WP:MFA carefully, draft your new article below and request unblock. The article must be in proper English, follow basic Wikipedia style conventions, be verifiable through references to reliable sources, not contain original research, be about a notable subject and be otherwise suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia as a new article.  Sandstein  07:43, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

To request unblock

McJakeqcool, to request an unblock, you must use the {{unblock|Your reason here}} template, or the administrators won't see it. DO NOT put 'I did not have a chance to put my case', this is not a valid reason. Instead, you need to write what you would have said if you had been there and had been able to say something. Try it now - explain to me what you would have said in response to the following:

  • you don't follow the rules (marking all non article edits as minor, not checking if an article on a topic exists before creating another one)
  • you can't follow advice (I don't believe you have ever understood what both myself and Guyinblack were saying about creating one article that contained some information about the console games you have that were not notable enough for their own article)
  • you can't communicate with people (writing in that blog instead of responding direct, the wierd conversation about whether looking at the box was original research)
  • you can't write in English that people can understand (making up your own meaning for words eg 'commercial success' means people don't shout at you)
  • you don't understand Wikipedia.Elen of the Roads (talk) 13:52, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
