Ego article

Jivesh, I have edited some sentences on Ego. Hope it's okay. Novice7 Talk 11:07, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Of course! What is it? Novice7 Talk 11:15, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, which link is it? Is it to the website of Billboard? If it is, just give it to me, let me try something.. Novice7 Talk 11:21, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Okay Jivesh. I searched on Google Books (assuming all Billboard reviews come on magazine too). I found a review by Billboard - link. Check it out and tell me if that's the one. Novice7 Talk 11:28, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No... Use the Cite book template and fill it up. If you are having difficulties, let me know. Happy to help! Novice7 Talk 11:33, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Billboard magazines are archived by Google Books. The full magazine is available, excluding the latest ones. We use the cite book template to fill the fields. You know what cite web is. This is just the same, the only thing is that We have to add page number (there in the book), author (if it is there), publisher (for Billboard - Prometheus Global Media) and url (the link I provided). If you provide the date, it would be better. Hope you understood. Novice7 Talk 11:52, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You're Welcome. Sorry for my late reply too. I was out with my friends. Novice7 Talk 13:38, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest you merge the different music videos into one. Novice7 Talk 13:44, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Beyonce discography

Just gimme the weekend to sort it through. — Legolas (talk2me) 14:05, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Ego

I am more than happy to sort out a clip of "Ego" for you, but I need to know what part of the song to upload. I see that you have nominated it as a GA, but I don't think it is quite ready yet. I started the 'Composition' section, which needs expansion, and there seems to be a story about Chrisette Michele originally having the song, which could be dug up further. Have a look here for some more sources:[1][2]. If you want a hand just ping me. Good luck! Adabow (talk · contribs) 20:32, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I also echo Adabow's sentiments. I thought you were going to let me help you with some of it, as it still needs alot of work before it is possibly quick-failed at the GAN. Candyo32 21:46, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Due to non-free content criteria, minimal use of non-free content is encouraged. See WP:SAMPLE, where it recommends 10% or less of a song. Unfortunately this means I cannot upload the full clip you asked for, but I think I got a decent one for the demonstration purposes. Furthermore, another sample of Kanye's version would fail NFCC (and it doesn't sound as good as B by herself :P). Adabow (talk · contribs) 06:54, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I meant all that you requested (from 2:45 to 3:20), because it is longer than 10%. Adabow (talk · contribs) 06:58, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No, I don't usually, although I plan to edit more Beyoncé in the future. Hopefully we can get most of her articles to GA and maybe a couple of FAs before her next album! Adabow (talk · contribs) 07:04, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well Jivesh, I appreciate your hard work and the article is good. But, you might wanna ask someone to copy-edit some portions, to improve the prose quality. Also, you should archive your talk page. It's getting somewhat long :) Novice7 Talk 10:15, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, what I said is you can ask someone else to clean your article up, so that the article is neat and clear to understand. You can request at Wikipedia:COPYEDITORS (it takes too long) or ask Legolas or Reaper Eternal to do it. Novice7 Talk 10:23, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
See, how's the article now? That is what I meant by improving "prose quality" :) Novice7 Talk 04:57, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Good luck! Novice7 Talk 05:00, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Diva

  • Sorry, the sheet music doesn't list the chords in the preview. If you ask Legolas nicely he can do it for you :). Adabow (talk · contribs) 10:25, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Lemme check. — Legolas (talk2me) 11:15, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I meant that I will look and make some FL related changes to the Beyonce discography article in the weekend. — Legolas (talk2me) 11:28, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Funny thing is that I transposed the cchords from the sheet music using the software, however, nothing came. I suppose the sheet music addded in the website is faulty. — Legolas (talk2me) 15:20, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

RE:Diva

Ok, I'll do that and make some fixes too. Hopefully I can work on them before you decide to move on to the GAN without me. Lol! Candyo32 13:20, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, please do not think i am avoiding you. I did not want to disturb you because you told me you will work on I Am... Sasha Fierce and the article is so long. Please do not get me wrong. I really appreciate you. Jivesh boodhun (talk) 13:24, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh that's fine anyway, I was just joking! Anyway, I'm working on it now, and one thing I noticed about the composition section is some NPOV. Not that the statements are non-neutral it is the way as it is presented, such as you cannot say the song is "radio-friendly" and "the perfect anthem" without saying who said it. Such as saying "In "Diva", There is a feel of courage and determination..", it should be, "According to Colin McGuire of Pop Matters, there is a feel..." Some of this seems to be reception also, but I'll fix it all up ASAP. Candyo32 13:20, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Also something I'm seeing in Diva that I also saw in the album article. Remember that only magazines and newspapers are in italics. Now this is tricky, this is different for the references, because what you put in is opposite of what shows up. When you are filling out the references, in the "work" parameter, you use the italicizing codes if you DONT want it to be italicized. If it is infact a newspaper or magazine and it does need to be italicized, then do not use the '' codes. Candyo32 13:33, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've done alot on Diva now, and I'll finish some more later. Candyo32 13:53, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Lol that was hard to read for me too – and I'm a native English speaker! The only relevant part is "'I'm a Diva' I originally was gonna put on a mixtape and put my female artist on it. But Beyoncé wanted it. So what I'mma say? 'That's not a real track'?"". There's not much substance there, unfortunately, but you could say something like: "Diva" was originally written for a female hip-hop artist's mixtape, but Beyonce wanted to record the track herself. Ask Candy to help you. Adabow (talk · contribs) 06:55, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Diva

Yes, you can. There are some small mistakes though. Like, "The song was released as the album's third overall single in the United States alongside the third international single "Halo". It served as the second urban single in the US and was sent urban radio on January 20, 2009." which makes me confused. Also, it needs a "to" after "was sent". If you're not sure, you might wanna open a peer review.. That is, if you really really want it to become FA sometime or the other.. Novice7 Talk 10:34, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ahhh..Right... Don't you wanna "elevate" them to FA level? By the way, you should really archive your talk page. It's becoming big.... Novice7 (talk) 10:43, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
First, GA is a Good article. FA is a Featured article.. FA are much better in quality than GA an the process of FA can be long. See WP:FA for further information.. If you want, I can archive your talk.. Novice7 (talk) 10:47, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Good. Now, its neat... Go ahead and nominate for GA. Who knows, maybe I can review it. Novice7 (talk) 10:55, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Awww.. Thank you so much... You mind if I add Talkarchive to your archives? Novice7 (talk) 10:59, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I could not understand that.. Novice7 (talk) 10:59, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Fine. Novice7 (talk) 10:59, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Whoa... Be careful while adding images to your talk page. Add Beyonce's photo, don't add a single/album cover. It is protected by copyrights. Novice7 (talk) 11:05, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Good. You can add the tour photo. It's okay. Assuming you're talking about GA nomination, I tried to nominate an article with mine and my friend (Ending-start)'s name and I couldn't do it. You could ask someone how to nominate together. And, if possible, please do include Candy's name. Novice7 (talk) 11:10, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
How did you include yours and Candy's name together??? Novice7 (talk) 11:41, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Great! Thanks.. You see, I couldn't put my friend's name because I didn't know how to do this.. Novice7 (talk) 11:49, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Good luck on all your GAs. I'll be reviewing "Diva". Novice7 (talk) 11:53, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorrry!! I think we live in different time zones, so when you're sleep is when I'm up! Lol! But I'll make a few fixes right quite from what you left on my talk. Candyo32 13:16, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oops! Don't go by that lol, I haven't changed my status up there in months. I do that manually, do it doesn't update when I'm around. Haha! Anyway I'm about to fix up the refs on "Diva" then it should be done, then I'll work on the album. Candyo32 13:20, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The US!! Candyo32 13:27, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There are some more issues with Diva. Novice7 (talk) 07:46, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, please. Novice7 (talk) 07:51, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Passed GA! Also, you might wanna check Crazy in Love. The critical reception is too short. Novice7 (talk) 08:13, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank You so much... Novice7 (talk) 08:16, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm flattered :) If you need any assistance, just ask me.. I will surely try to help, if I know about what you ask. Novice7 (talk) 09:48, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest find "atleast" one mixed or negative review.. We don't want other editors to think it's not neutral.. Right? Novice7 (talk) 09:56, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's okay. Novice7 (talk) 10:27, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Broken-Hearted Girl

Yep! Adabow (talk · contribs) 18:22, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but I'll finish it off now. Adabow (talk · contribs) 18:26, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Take a look here. Adabow (talk · contribs) 20:02, 10 December 2010 (UTC) RE: "Diva" screenshot – the video is updated, but your browser needs to purge the cache. You can fix this by holding down Ctrl and pressing F5. Adabow (talk · contribs) 06:22, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've asked Legolas to look on billboard.biz, and the Digital Spy review has been used in the article. I'd be grateful if you dig up any other sources, though. Adabow (talk · contribs) 06:27, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
[3] is not reliable. And I have used the Digital Spy source. Adabow (talk · contribs) 08:39, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So I saw. Well done! Adabow (talk · contribs) 09:03, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sure! Candy and I are already working on it, so if you could rewrite the music video or cultural impact that would be great. Adabow (talk · contribs) 09:13, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There should be reviews for it. There may not necessarily be reviews for the song only, but it might be mentioned in an album review. Adabow (talk · contribs) 09:19, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, that's an unusual problem. Do any of the video reviews offer criticism on the song itself? Adabow (talk · contribs) 09:28, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In the "Diva" article you cite [4] as a reference, however it is a copyright violation, as it is not uploaded by the record company. Is the director's cut somewhere else as well, like MTV or Vevo? Oh, and I might help on "If I Were a Boy" later; I'll get "Single Ladies" done first. Adabow (talk · contribs) 09:31, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That's really, really weird. I suppose it can still pass GA, it just will probably never be a FA. Adabow (talk · contribs) 09:32, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, i will fix that. And i am happy that you are ready to help later. Bye. Take care. See you soon. One last question, do you know what time it might be in the US now? Jivesh boodhun (talk) 09:38, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The US is a massive country, so they have heaps of time zones. I think it's the middle of the night for them right now lol. Adabow (talk · contribs) 09:42, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Update

I went on ahead and polisehd the receptionin the Single Ladies article because I head already did some and most of them were the same as you posted :) Lol. Anyway, I also polished some that I hadn't done. I think it will turn out to be a fantastic article. Anyway, piece-by-piece I'm trying to finish the album's article. I'll try to complete ASAP. Candyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 01:57, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Single Ladies

Well, I couldn't find it on Google Books, but I found it on Reuters. When you add it to the article, use cite web, not cite book or cite journal. Here it is - Link. Novice7 | Talk 09:34, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You're Welcome! Novice7 | Talk 09:42, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Beyoncé

I have created the WikiProject, if you want to join add your name at Wikipedia:WikiProject Beyoncé Knowles. Thanks, Adabow (talk · contribs) 21:41, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Single Ladies

You got me confused. "Knowles was due to perform the song at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards on September 13. However, the performance was changed to "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" ozurbanmusic (talk) 07:26, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ok then. I was going to change it myself but I see your currently editing the article so I don't want it to end up being an edit conflict. lol ozurbanmusic (talk) 07:35, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

SL screencap

The cap of Knowles with her wedding ring is notable from the video. However, per NFCC guidelines we have only "minimal usage" of non-free content. The double cap already listed is already enough, and if both images were up when we nominate for GA, the editor would more than definitely ask that one gets removed. So I would assume you would rather remove the wedding ring cap, as the double cap comparing the image with the original is more significant. Candyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 20:52, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No matter if the image is from flickr, a music video image is non-free. It is not just easy as grabbing any picture from Flickr and it meets criterion. You have to make sure the content you get from Flickr is unfree. Like the Taylor and Kanye picture you uploaded is NFCC, so you would need to use one that is already passed NFCC and uploaded like this one. Candyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 22:54, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Single Ladies (2)

Wow Jivesh! Single Ladies could easily become a FA with some fixes. Good job Novice7 | Talk 04:57, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well some grammar and typo fixes. That's all. Take your time and read the article thoroughly. You'll find them out. I'm saying this, this can become a FA. Look at 4 Minutes, to get a picture of it. Fix it accordingly. After you fix the errors, try opening a Peer Review to get more suggestions. Then, nominate for a FA. Hope it helps. Good work and Good luck to you. Novice7 | Talk 06:46, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know if you got it. But, here's a sample for If I Were a Boy [5] Novice7 | Talk 11:30, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Is the sample okay? Novice7 | Talk 11:41, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
How about now? The last portion is faded out, as I cannot upload a sample with duration greater than 27 seconds (WP:SAMPLE). Novice7 | Talk 11:55, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes.. I love her too. But, did you notice some distortion in the If I Were a Boy chorus. I thought it was something with my I Am... Sasha Fierce disk, but my friend's also has the same thing. Novice7 | Talk 12:03, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Just listen to the first version of the sample. At around 0:04, when she sings "I think I could understand..", don't you feel something (like a grainy sound or whatever)??? Novice7 | Talk 12:11, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's Okay LOL! Atleast you noticed. When I told my friends, they did not.. Novice7 | Talk 12:16, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think so too.. I've known her for more than 3 yrs, but started liking her since I heard Halo. The fact is that she is a fan of Mariah Carey, who is my favorite singer, also Beyonce is very polite. So, now I like her. Novice7 | Talk 12:25, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's good! It's one of my favorite songs on I Am Sasha Fierce.. Btw, do you like Mariah Carey? Novice7 | Talk 12:31, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Nope. I'm from India (same as Legolas, but different state). I really love Mariah, and like almost all her songs except "Candy Bling" and some other songs. Novice7 | Talk 12:41, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Same age LOL. I hope you'll be getting Single Ladies to a FA as I mentioned. Novice7 | Talk 12:49, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The article has so much potential. You could try contacting the editors of the page. Click on History, then Revision History statistics. You'll see the people who edit the page the most. Try contacting them. But, lol you're the second highest editor. Good luck! Novice7 | Talk 12:55, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Do you mean you want to open a Peer Review? Are you finished with the article? Novice7 | Talk 13:08, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Take your time. FA can be tedious. Trust me.. Novice7 | Talk 13:15, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. Novice7 | Talk 13:21, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Did Reaper finish copy-editing? Novice7 | Talk 13:27, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No. I don't know why it's like that. Usually, Wikiprojects boost the number of editors. But, some other projects like Britney Spears suffer the same fate too. I guess it's up to the people to decide and expand the articles. Novice7 | Talk 13:35, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. Novice7 | Talk 13:45, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Check WP:PR. Follow the steps.. It's easy. Even if I open, it would carry my name. Novice7 | Talk 12:49, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Good. Really good. I changed a photo's position. With the copy-edit from Reaper, it should do well. Good luck. Novice7 | Talk 13:03, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I would support the nomination for FA, but it's upto others to decide. About my user name, I use Bgcolor to modify my signature. Novice7 | Talk 13:21, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
LOL... The Peer review is not initiated.. Initiate that and mention the reason why you want to peer review. Novice7 | Talk 13:29, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Good. it's done.But you'll have to wait for reviews. Novice7 | Talk 13:31, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If you're not sure, then you can nominate it for GA and then FA. The reason I didn't say that is because, it would take time (Article to GA; then to FA). Anyways, I can see a bubbling FA. If you're nominating it for GA, close the peer review first, or wait for it to close. Novice7 | Talk 13:44, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Single Ladies

It looks great! Just reminding you, don't nominate it for FAC first, it has to go to GAN, then when it passes there, it can be up for featured. Right after this i'll do a quick search to see if i can find more background. Candyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 13:32, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It depends, you can go ahead and nominate it now unless you think the copy editing it needs is too outstanding. Candyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 13:52, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
As you wish. You can go for FA through GA or directly. Anyways, it has some potential to become a FA. Now that peer review is open, you have to wait for comments and then close it, and then nominate it for GA or FA. Novice7 | Talk 02:47, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
LOL.. Sometimes it can take a long time.. Don't worry. It'd pass. Novice7 | Talk 05:57, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
What is it? Novice7 | Talk 06:03, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have not read the article thoroughly. Just skimmed over. Read the Cultural impact and live performances section thoroughly to find any errors. Novice7 | Talk 06:07, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's okay. Don't worry. Everything's not the same. Some songs might be easy to organize, while some others may be difficult. Both SL and IIWAB are gonna do just fine! Novice7 | Talk 06:09, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Not really. It's just OK for me. That's all. Novice7 | Talk 06:10, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Just one review is enough (add it to some existing section). Novice7 | Talk 06:14, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Update

Hi Jivesh! Just updating you, so I trimmed the chart performance for "Single Ladies" as it seemed like it was sort of a play-by-play of its chartings and it needed to be more concise, modeling 4 Minutes (Madonna song), of sorts. Also, overall the article is a massive 100k long. I tried to trim the lead a bit, but it really wasn't nothing outstanding to remove. But I do see that the cultural impact is heavy also. I would suggest that you go through the article one more time and try to remove any excess info to bring that 100k down. Mainly, the cultural impact, try to only list the most popular spinoffs, and see if some of the minor ones really need to be included. The chartings of IIWAB and SL are much more comprehensive than "Broken-Hearted Girl" but I would suggest taking a look at that article if you ever have to promote a song of that caliber and chartings, and that is an ideal section length. But with the much larger SL & IIWAB, of course it would take more but be careful of how much. Hope all is well, continue to do great work :) Candyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 14:11, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was referring to me trimming the chart performance of Single Ladies, and that it was a bit too much of like a play-by-play of its chartings, and needed to be concise in the form of 4 Minutes (Madonna song). And I brought up "Broken Hearted Girl" to say that if you ever promoted a article like that or that size, that is an ideal chart performance of a song that charted like that, but SL and IIWAB would be larger because of their much larger chartings, but not too much! Hope I made it clearer! Candyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 17:31, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Nope no problem ! :) But as stated before, I would go through the article one good time and see if you can remove any excess info or non-notable things (especially in the cultural impact) so you could drive that 100k down some. Candyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 17:38, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I saw Legolas's comments to you on his talk page, and I will have to echo his sentiments too. I would suggest taking time on some of these articles, to make sure they are to perfection. You have put a lot of work in, rolling in several nominations this week on considerably huge articles. I would suggest taking time to make sure everything is set, so many problems would not be pointed out at GAN. Even with this peer review, Single Ladies definitely needs to go for GAN first, and not just a bold nominee for FAC, when we've only worked on it less than a week. However, I am incredibly inspired by your work ethic, and keep it up, you're even making me work harder! Lol. Candyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 17:46, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You know it feels so good when someone tells a 16 year old boy that he loves his work. I feel so happy. By the way, if you see me working so much these days, it is mainly because i am on holidays. Can i request you something if you don't mind? Jivesh boodhun (talk) 17:50, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, what is it? And yep, US all day! :) I wanted to tell you this before I undid it, but all these different chart surges for Single Ladies in the article is irrelevant. The only things that really need to be pointed out are the peaks and feats. "If I Were a Boy" falling to two is irrelevant and how many downloads that song sold is also. "Airplay Gainers" are also irrelevant, unless the song reached one. If this were a relatively small song, I could see that, but the opus that Single Ladies is, all these chart moves in the US are irrelevant when you have all this international info. This is a very huge article as it is and all of this frivolous info is just making it longer and longer. Candyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 17:52, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, well did you get my last message about you re-addition to the chart performance? I think it could be a possible GAN, the only problems are, like the tag says, the lead is too long. So I would heavily reduce the lead, and then get a copyeditor to review it. Candyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 18:01, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I meant to say, I don't know what to reduce, because some of this information is irrelevant, like "If I were a Boy falling to two and its downloads. The chart performance should model that of 4 Minutes (Madonna song) and Baby Boy (Beyoncé Knowles song). Continual addition will just drive the long 100k of this article up already and its already long so we don't want to get it longer. Candyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 18:09, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I hope I didn't sound too harsh. I would try some French, but I'm taking Spanish classes now. Lol Candyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 18:18, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Friend

Hi Jivesh, Sorry I havent really been around much or been speaking much. My life (outside of wikipedia) has changed a lot in a short space of time. I've been focussed mainly on a lot of project-based stuff on wikipedia and changes to MoS were my main priorities. At the moment I don't have an interest in joining the project but I will always make contributions to Beyoncé articles as I have done in the past. Are you well? -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 18:08, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh sorry I didnt mean to scare you. No its more just I've had a lot more work at university so I've had to really cut back on other stuff. I've also been applying for internships and jobs etc. I guess I'm fed up on things the way they are so I've decided I'm gonna work hard to make a better life for myself. -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 18:19, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I just want good grades and a good social life. That's what I meant... I'm working towards :P Its ok I'm good in health and good in mind - that's whats important. I hope you are well soon and will probably see you editing soon... -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 18:27, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Single Ladies PR

Hey Jivesh! I told you, other editors may express their concerns over the FA nomination. Some may even don't know the article (or song in your case). Don't worry. I guess its better you go to GA and then FA. This way, you can correct more errors, thus making the article awesome! Also, the Mariah Carey project is now open! If you'd like to join, add your name! Novice7 | Talk 08:10, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If the reviewer asked you to correct something, then you better not add that back. Let the review be completed, and then you can go for GA. Novice7 | Talk 09:58, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You have faith in your work, right? It will surely pass GA. Novice7 | Talk 10:10, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
LOL. Yes I know sometimes I sound "philosophical" Anyways, if you have fixed everything the reviewer said, you can inform him and then close it. Don't get me wrong, but what he said about Chart performance is right. You should've mentioned it was Beyonce's fifth no 1 hit before, as it is important. Novice7 | Talk 12:56, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
LOL Jivesh, I didn't mean the PR went "wrong". The reviewer is really good, and I wish I had someone like him to review my articles. He looks from a reader point of view rather than a fan. That's good, because he can spot more errors. Also, what I really meant is, if this went for FA, the reviewer might not necessarily be a fan or might not even know about Beyonce. It's natural. You don't have to be worried. The reason we make FA and GA is for readers, fans or regular readers, to know about the article. Sorry if I'm being rude, but this is what I meant :( Novice7 | Talk 05:38, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, extremely sorry, if I went rude on you. I was just trying to let you know about FA and PR. I was not at all trying to hurt your feelings. Sorry again. Novice7 | Talk 06:28, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry Jivesh, but these changes are actually needed, and the reviewer did a good and thorough job. If those changes aren't made, we can't expect it to pass GA or FA. Because this is one editor, and then when it goes to FA, it will be multiple editors ganging up on the same issue. As for the image, IT IS NFCC, its not a matter of what is depicted in the image, we can only have a certain amount of free content, and I believe this is my fourth time stating this, the double screencap of the video comparisons is already pushing it enough. And if you think the only way we can get this passed is to get a Beyonce fan to review it, is kind of ludicrous. We need someone like this reviewer now, to point out opinions we may be subjected towards because we like her music. I've tried to explain this to you numerous times. I've been on Wikipedia almost six years, I have completed thirty-seven GA's and have been in two featured article promotions. I know basic stuff we need to do to get this article rolling, if you let the procedure take its course. If not, the article won't go anywhere. Hope I don't come across as rude, just hoping to get my point acrossCandyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 13:15, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No! I'm not angry, it's just that I was working on one of my article. That's all. And, how's the PR going? Novice7 | Talk 11:21, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. I will try my best. But, unfortunately, I'm not good in reading music. I see you have used Pandora. Did you check with somebody, about its usability? If we can use it, I'll be using it on my article too. I'm free now (collecting information for my articles). Novice7 | Talk 11:29, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That's a great idea. Actually, Candy helped me complete my composition section earlier. He should know about Pandora too. I'm really impressed with the way "Single Ladies" is coming together bit by bit. Novice7 | Talk 11:32, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Well, I've got to start my work now, so bye. Novice7 | Talk 11:39, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Single Ladies

I'll clear up some errors. But as I told you before, I'd have to agree with them about the cultural impact being too lengthy. Also, as I said would happen, he questioned the importance of the image of her and the wedding ring and said the Bob Fosse comparison was more relevant. The reviewer actually done a wonderful job here, as if this had directly gone to FA it would have been slayed. Anyway, I'll correct some errors he has :) Candyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 13:31, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Added, but I don't really think it is ready for a FAC. You are using 6 NFC (five images and a sample) and that is excessive, the images of Knowles showing her ring can be replaced by a free image of Knowles' ring, also the image of West-Swift is practically irrelevant to this article. Also, for consistency with all her I Am... Sasha Fierce articles, images need WP:ALText. If I am suffering with Halo, which is 50Kb, all of you'll suffer with an article of 99Kb. Wiki Project's

When I become a more frequent editor to music pages again, I'll be happy too. But I'm sure I'll have my hands full with Mariah Carey for the moment. Anything particular need doing? Jayy008 (talk) 17:52, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Judging on appearance, I say yes. I would even go as far as FA status due to it's cultural impact. I don't have time to read it, but it's got everything it needs and looks great! Jayy008 (talk) 18:13, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I would agree with most of those. Jayy008 (talk) 00:43, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Single Lay-days

No worries. Like I said, I wanted to help your article too :)

The only thing with the "major dance craze" part is how easy it is to disagree with, even if it is sourced. Like I brought up with the OK Go video, it's very, very easy to disagree with that. Saying it's the "first major dance craze" is highly subjective.

Well, with the awards, I didn't mean that you had to cut them out but just organize them better. It's kind of dry how they're organized in the article. And be careful now - "Hey Jude" is an extremely ridiculously absurdly famous song that's won more awards than "Single Ladies" in its own right :P Check out any "top songs of all time" lists. They just didn't have the same charts as we do now.

Well, flashing the read isn't the unimportant part, but saying that it's worth $5 million is pretty pointless and sounds like an advertisement. That's like me writing about Rise Against and pointing out their vegan clothing - yes, being vegan is an important part of the band, but as an individual stand-alone point it's kind of irrelevant.

Oh believe me, I know that there are lot of parodies, but you don't have to list every single one. Merely saying that it IS oft-parodied and listing two or three is enough, not dedicating whole paragraphs to it. That's just too far. There are a lot songs (arguably more famous and better than "Single Ladies") that are here but aren't listed the billions of parodies simply because it's not needed and isn't important to the average reader.

Good luck with the article! Best wishes. --Silverskylines (talk) 19:30, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Echoing what Tbhotch said above, that image of Knowles in the wedding ring has to be removed if we expect it to pass GA or FA. It looks pretty and all, but it is non-free content anda that double screencap of the Verndon choreography and the video is already pushing it. Just because it is placed in the background now doesn't mean that it is now acceptable. Candyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 20:49, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I love the way she taunts boys in "Video Phone" and "Get Me Bodied"
  • I like the way she shakes her body in "Crazy in Love", "Baby Boy", "Broken-Hearted Girl", "Greenlight" and "Check on It",
  • I like the way she moans in "Naughty girl" and "Beautiful Liar"
  • I love the way she walks in "Sweet Dreams"
  • I love the way she shouts in "Halo" and "Radio"
  • I like the way she expresses herself in "Me, Myself and I", "If I Were a Boy" and "Irreplaceable"

Hmmm, its a tough one. I can't tell you my favorite lol, my top 10 are probably "Without You", "Anytime You Need a Friend", "Everything Fades Away", "One Sweet Day", "Honey", "Butterfly", "My All", "Whenever You Call", "Through the Rain", "We Belong Together", "Obsessed" and "O Come All Ye Faithful" :) Those are my tops, but I love almost every single one. Did you know that Beyonce was inspired to sing and do vocal runs by Mariah's song "Vision of Love" in 1990?--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 11:52, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for barging in, but, my favorites are "Thank God I Found You", "When Christmas Comes", "Can't Let Go", "Anytime You Need a Friend", "Heartbreaker" and "Lead the Way" and more... Btw, I don't think "Glitter" soundtrack is bad. It's really good! Novice7 | Talk 11:54, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OF COURSE, I KNOW A die-hard fan like me is bound to know everything about Queen B. And yes, i love all those songs except the last one, found on her thirteenth studio and second Christmas album. My favourites are "Obsessed", "Get Your Number", "We Belong Together", "Fantasy", "Bye Bye", "Angels Cry", "I Want To Know What Love Is". Jivesh boodhun (talk) 11:55, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Also "All I Want for Christmas Is You" the ultimate holiday classic :) and lastly, I love "Joy to the World", those vocals, Those vocals fly! Yes Glitter wasn't bad at all! Hmmm, we gotta get you into listening to vintage MC lol--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 12:05, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you want, though the only missed is what an opponent of its FAC commented, a section full of self-thoughts about its composition (see Cool (Gwen Stefani song)#Writing and composition for an example). Tbh®tchTalk © Happy Holidays 05:00, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have no idea of musical composition. If you ask me what is "She performs her highest pitch (C♯5) during the chorus, after which she sings in a softer, almost sotto voice, and her lowest pitch (E3) at the beginning of the verses", I would be like "O.o". If you could bring me that link, it would be nice, it should exist an user which understand it. Either if the link is "reliable" or not, all info is in the music sheet. Tbh®tchTalk © Happy Holidays 05:07, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Simple, its FAC nominator. BTW thanks for the link, I'll check it. Tbh®tchTalk © Happy Holidays 05:13, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you can? Yes you always can. The real question is if you should, which is not the case. If you mean that it can replace the (now removed) image, it still copyrighted by Columbia. You need a public domain image of Beyoncé (or in a license CC-BY/CC-BY-SA) wearing her ring, no other kind of images can be uploaded, especially if they are into the internet. Tbh®tchTalk © Happy Holidays 05:36, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In a few words: you need an image with no copyright and it may have copyleft. For "Sweet Dreams", well it's nice for that article, it needs improving. Tbh®tchTalk © Happy Holidays 05:52, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)

Hey, how are you? I had a nice holiday (thank goodness you call it that too, not that nasty "vacation" Americanism). Anyway, I see you are busy on Single Ladies, but I plan to give it a thorough copy-edit sometime soon. It should be ready for GA soon, but lets not rush to FAC before it is ready. Have a merry Christmas! Adabow (talk · contribs) 09:48, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Shall we send it to GAN now? Adabow (talk · contribs) 09:56, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think it would be wise to take it to GA first, that way we can iron out some of the issues, especially if we have a tougher or more experienced reviewer. Adabow (talk · contribs) 10:06, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If you dont know the meaning of fun and jokes, then no need of posting to me. Did you even bother to read what me and Nathan were talking about? Or did you try to clarify? Did you just expect that posting around a silly link in everybody's talk page would be taken so graciously? Yes, it did annoy a hell lot of people. And remember, WP is not a place for forum discussions and diva wars, the latter is the thing I hate the most. It is a silly thing that Nathan got involved, which we were discussing. I really don't care whether you like me or not, but don't comment on my talk page like this. Where does your unlikeness go when you ping me a zillion times asking for this and that for SL? If you really want to post or ask for my help, do it with some courtesy next time, else don't post. — Legolas (talk2me) 14:58, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

One day while Jean and producer Tony Gad were strolling though Times Square, they came across a hot dog stand on the side of the road. While tempted, Jean refrained from eating, thinking of how if she were a boy, she would eat one without regrets. After reflecting on the idea, she thought that if she was indeed a boy, she would have treated herself better than her past lover. Gad encouraged her to record her ideas for the studio, and later recorded the song in 15 minutes. After completing her version, her record company rejected the song.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 08:29, 24 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

RE:URGENT Single Ladies

Sure, I'll try to do one in a few minutes! Candyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 16:14, 24 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you read the lead section of When Love Takes Over or 4 Minutes (Madonna song) you'll see that both songs use only small paragraphs.
  • Paragraph 1 = "Name of song" by XYZ artist from ABC album. Released on mm-dd, yy by Music Label. A comment about the conception/inspiration of the song etc.
Paragraph 2 = Who wrote the song, its production, genres, conception, instrumentation etc.
Paragraph 3 = Chart performance/commericial performance, certificates, end of year achievements. Parodies.
Paragraph 4 = Live performances, awards and cultural impact, music video. etc.
This is what I meant when I said the lead needs to encompass all sections of the article. Currently its too long. -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 16:24, 24 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The cultural impact section needs mass reductions. Only the most noteworthy of paradies should be included - those which attracted media attention e.g. Justin Timberlake's surprise appearance at SNL. -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 15:49, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Examples

  • This quote "According to an article published by MTV Networks, it appears, in several ways, like the video was custom-made for the YouTube generation, which probably explains why making homages became a worldwide phenomenon.[84]" is not required.
  • "Joe Jonas of the pop-rock band, Jonas Brothers, later donned a black leotard, did the dance and posted his video on their YouTube account for their album countdown" - remove. its not notable, it didnt receive coverage.
  • "Several male-stars also performed the song. American actor, producer, writer and director, Tom Hanks dubbed "Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)" as his favorite song of 2009 and tried his shot at the dance.[120] In addition, American film actor and producer, Tom Cruise danced with Knowles and her dancers as they performed the famous dance routine in Los Angeles on July 16, 2009.[121]" - condense. Also the Tom Cruise thing is probably better in the live performance section.
  • "n one of the numerous videos on the internet, filmed by American singer John Legend, the American president Barack Obama can be seen doing a small part of the "Single Ladies" dance along with his wife Michelle, at his first inaugural ball in January 2009.[122] However, he did not skirt a leotard to perform the dance.[122] Later, a video surfaced on YouTube showing a twenty-six year old man, Iman Crosson, who is a look-alike of the American president, doing the dance choreography of the song,[123] and his parody of Knowles "Single Ladies" became a huge hit." - condense into simple sentences e.g. "in a video filmed by singer John Legend, the American president, Barack Obama, appears with his wife Michelle Obama performing part of the "Single Ladies" routine. This video trigged an Obama look-a-like, Iman Crosson, to do his own version of the video's choreography. His parody of "Single Ladies" was noted as one of the "definitive 'Single Ladies' dance parodies", as noted by AOL.

Now do you understand what I mean? -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 16:30, 28 December 2010 (UTC) You might also wish to consider splitting the section and having two sub-headings: 1) Parodies 2) Covers and usage etc. -- Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 16:30, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Lolll I just noticed your "Green Light" link :) Candyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 18:21, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, and I know it didn't sell well, but even if it were released at a different time it would have charted higher. Like three months ago albums that sold lower than hers made the top twenty. Anyway, she needs to just start over and begin a new project and just bring harder material. Candyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 18:26, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'll get to it. I have one more project, but it's really simple and right after I finish that I will definitely finish the album article. Candyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 18:28, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ehhh, I don't think so. She needs to stick with what got her famous, hip-hop. She did an predominantly dance-pop album, Fantasy Ride (it only sold 80k first week when Ciara: The Evolution sold 330K, and that was what really sent her career downward. And rumors said she had problems with her label, so she might need to go somewhere else. The thing is with Ciara that it is unusual because the arists that go the dance-pop route (with the exceptions of your Lady Gagas and Katy Perrys) have low album sales, but high singles sales. Then with R&B artists, its the other way around. While their singles are low-performing, the usually have very high albums sales. Candyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 18:34, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Turn It Up is the only way that her Basic Instinct era can seem respectable. But I do believe one day hip-hop and R&B will come back to dominate. In the Us from about the late 90's until about late 2007, R&B and Hip-Hop were the dominate genres. Then all of a sudden electropop and dance-pop took over, and mainstream radio really stopped supporting many urban songs. The only thing saving R&B now is although many singles don't crack the top twenty, they have loyal fanbases that will still by their albums (except poor Ciara). Like for example, I don't know if you are familiar with Keyshia Cole, but her album was released this week and the lead single only made #57 on the R&B chart. However Billboard says she will probably get a top 5 debut with 130k. Btw, about helping, what about Alicia Keys article also? I like her, and none of her articles are high quality. Candyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 18:45, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
SOrry for the late reply. That CiCi song sounds good, but some said it wasn't her, Idk. Lol. Anyway, I do agree with Legolas in that the cultural impact on the song needs to be reduced a bit more Alot of frivolous matter such as the little boy from New Zealand, and as explanations of a lot of stuff could be removed. Candyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 02:43, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I like how you split it up now. It doesn't look as massive. Did someone request to remove a whole lot of "Kanyegate?" Although some of it might have been too much, I think the fall out and initial apology, and noting how the incident helped them in commercial success for their albums should have been kept. Candyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 05:19, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You did a good trim of it, but I still wish some of it could have been kept. And also, it really doesn't have its own article as it is still part of the 2009 VMA page. And yes it was very well written. I do remember one reviewer from the beginning complimented it and said it flowed really well. And its wasn't really even a 1/4 of whats present in the Kanyegate section on the 2009 VMA's page.Candyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 05:33, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

IPs are anonymous users with no accounts. Some IPs can be a bit of nuisance, altering information and removing some too. We have to be careful about them. Oh, you have nominated SL for a GA right? Have you closed the previous PR? If you have not, please do close it. You can go for a second PR after the GA. Re: Beyonce Articles

Thank you, nice to talk with you. I think it's not really difficult to develop awards page for relatively new artists like Beyonce, because there are many sources out there. The Madonna's one is a bit difficult, because I have to access old news archive or some books. Are you planning to develop Beyonce awards page in the near future? Maybe I can help to find some reliable sources :) Bluesatellite (talk) 10:13, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Single Ladies

I am really busy right now. I highly suggest you ask somebody else if you need it badly. Sorry =( --Blackjacks101 (talk) 01:58, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jivesh, I think you are overdoing it into the article. So many editors copy-editing it, the prose is again turning sloppy, sloppy reference formatting, sloppy MOS etc. Why can't you just wait? — Legolas (talk2me) 16:12, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Beyonce review

I saw your note to me today about reviewing "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)". I'd say "yes" if it were coming through WP:PR and lacked comments, but I see that it recently had a PR with fairly extensive comments. To be fair, I think I'd better keep working on articles that have no comments before turning my attention to this one. Hey!

Lol nah I'm not angry, I just haven't been online a lot lately. I plan to work on Here I Stand (Usher album) soon (sorry not one of BB's!), then maybe get B'Day back to GA. As for the unreferenced statement 'Lyrically, the song is a brash statement to a fiancé, stating that the time has come for marriage, in lines like "If you like it then you should have put a ring on it."', that is WP:OR, and the album cover has nothing to do with it. I will remove the sentence, but if a critic has commented on this, feel free to re-add with the source. Adabow (talk · contribs) 08:53, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bad Romance says "During the interlude, Gaga sings the verses from the chorus in French: "Je veux ton amour, Et je veux ta revenge, Je veux ton amour".", which offers no interpretation. Also, I have The Fame Monster, and it includes lyrics in the album notes. I don't have I Am... Sasha Fierce, and it may well have lyrics, but I own B'Day, which doesn't, so I'm not sure that IASF does. Adabow (talk · contribs) 08:59, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, I don't know any French. Legs will know, but it's probably something like "I want your loving and I want your revenge". I take 日本語 at school, but I know hardly any French lol. Adabow (talk · contribs) 09:09, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:FA? criterion 3. I don't see why not to have the images, but if you really don't like them I suppose you could remove them. Those sections just looked a bit...bare...before. Adabow (talk · contribs) 09:56, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder if we can find out who the dancers in the SL video are? Adabow (talk · contribs) 10:10, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm printing off the SL article and am gonna do a big copy-edit. If it passes GA soon, please don't open a peer review until I've finished, so that we can make the most from the PR. Adabow (talk · contribs) 04:21, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think I fixed it now. Wait til the bot runs (at 8.00 UTC) and it should remove it. I'm using your source atm. Adabow (talk · contribs) 07:58, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, it's supposed to help you identify error that you don't pick up on the computer, and I didn't print images/charts/credits/refs, so it's only 11 pages of text lol. Adabow (talk · contribs) 08:16, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. FAC is really, really tough, so it needs to be almost irreplaceable before we can upgrade it to FA. :) Adabow (talk · contribs) 08:22, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hahahahahaha...lol just kidding. I also hate it when people use acronyms that I don't understand. "Atm" is 'at the moment'... or, of course, an automatic teller machine...lol. Adabow (talk · contribs) 08:26, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jivesh! Good job on Bey articles :) Here's something I found. Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum said that she sings SL in shower!!! I'm pretty sure it's not notable, but here's the link. It's the first video. Just to let you know, that's all :) Novice7 | Talk 13:02, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Diva is okay now. Ask for a c/e. Me? Funny? Lol, now that's something funny :D Novice7 | Talk 10:56, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As I mentioned earlier, Legolas said there are some redundancies. So, a c/e would do the trick. Or, you could find them manually and fix them. Anything is okay with me. Novice7 | Talk 11:00, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted the image in question. Note that WP:NFCC is requires minimal use of copyrighted materials. This image was 6 images from the video combined into one file, which is treated the same as having six separate images. If you are about to nominate it for GA, I'm not the type who could probably write a good enough synopsis. I'll try. --Cprice1000talk2me 04:53, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

And another thing is that the video is sorta simple, really. --Cprice1000talk2me 04:54, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Poison? Good? OK, yeah! I think that was awful. Here is what I could type up at 11:14 at night :D:

The video begins with Beyoncé dancing in front of a target before moving to her putting on blush and lipstick next to two other men in a room full of neon framed mirrors. The men then pull a dress onto her and as the chorus begins, she walks by several women dancing on neon boxes before beginning to do a dance routine with them. As the chorus ends, she is shown surrounded by several men in a dark room and dancing in front of barcode-like walls. The video then moves to her walking down a neon catwalk. As the bridge starts, she begins doing a feirce dance routine, while constantly switching dresses. A scene is then shown with her dancers pretending to be paparazzi swarming her with microphones, before ending with Beyoncé whipping her hair in front of the target.

My main problem is those neon things and that "target." It's also that the video had little content. It's a great song though! I'll try and enlargen this. Add it if you want. --Cprice1000talk2me 05:17, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Uhm... I read the article and it was beautifully written, but I can't see that it charted and that might become a problem with other users. --Cprice1000talk2me 05:26, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, really --Cprice1000talk2me 05:37, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
With the surplus of information, I think it could pass NSONG without charting. --Cprice1000talk2me 05:41, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Mene Aap dono (Legolas aur thum) ko Hindi mein baat karte dekha. Am I correct? I was never good in Hindi. I study Malayalam (obvious) Novice7 | Talk 17:17, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is the kind of problem you were originally blocked for, and I had really hoped that you had stopped doing. Freakum Dress doesn't meet any of our guidelines for song articles. Not one. It hasn't charted. It hasn't won an award. It hasn't had multiple versions performed by multiple notable artists. There's nothing to suggest that this song warrants an article. Please don't start edit-warring over things like this again.—Kww(talk) 19:04, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I was going in to formally nominate this for deletion, when I discovered that there have already been two AFDs about this song: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Freakum Dress and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Freakum Dress (2). I've deleted the article per WP:CSD#G4.
In the future, complying with the notability guidelines will prevent you from wasting this kind of effort.—Kww(talk) 20:20, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Kww you are abousing your tools, even I cannot see the article of 2007, I bet the current work of Jivesh is at least 10 times better. Do no use that shit of "Fails NSONGS" as a shield, the article cleary meet WP:GNG in ALL ASPECTS. You are an admin, learn the rules AND LEARN TO IGNORE THEM. Tbhotch and © 21:15, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
WP:DRV is available if you question my deletion. The new article did not address any of the reasons the article was originally deleted. WP:GNG sets a minimum bar for having an article, while WP:NSONGS provides guidance as to when it's a good idea. This topic does pass the minimum bar, but two successive AFDs have demonstrated the consensus that it's not a good idea to have an article about this song. I do understand WP:IAR and follow it when appropriate, but this is clearly not a case where it is appropriate.—Kww(talk) 21:21, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I don'tknow if WP:G4 changed when you started being an admin it cleary states excludes pages that are not substantially identical to the deleted version, the place to go is ANI. Tbhotch and © 21:23, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Have fun. "Substantially identical" is usually interpreted to mean "the changes didn't address any of the reasons that the article was deleted", and the article did not. You'll get referred to WP:DRV, and my deletion will probably get upheld (90% chance or greater). If it gets restored at WP:DRV, the chances of it surviving a third AFD are nearly zero. Wouldn't it be easier and better to concentrate your energy on articles that actually meet guidelines for inclusion?—Kww(talk) 21:28, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Will be easier in concentrate my energy in users whoodeserve my attention, not in admins who misuse their tools. Tbhotch and © 21:31, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not 100% sure why the article did not meet NSONG. It didn't chart - but that doesn't mean it can't have an article, especially since it's so well detailed. Maybe it was not released as a single, but it got as much attention as a single, even a music video. The article was perfect, but you have chosen to delete because you didn't see a number next to the name of a country. --Cprice1000talk2me 21:34, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I redirected because it failed WP:NSONGS, which is pretty simple to read: the song has to chart, win an award, or been covered by multiple notable artists. This song did none of these things. After the redirection was reverted, I was going to nominate it for deletion based on failing WP:NSONGS. When I was in the process of doing that, I noticed that the article had been created and deleted three times. The initial version as an A1, the second version based on AFD, where it was determined to fail notability guidelines, the third as a repost. Given that, I deleted it again: nothing in the article affected the song's failure to meet notability guidelines, which was the reason for the AFD-based deletion. That's why we have CSD#G4: to prevent people from creating articles over and over again when they have already been deleted at AFD, and nothing has changed to affect the AFD discussion.—Kww(talk) 21:40, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
NSONGS: Most songs do not rise to notability for an independent article and should redirect to another relevant article, such as for the songwriter, a prominent album or for the artist who prominently performed the song. Songs that have been ranked on national or significant music charts, that have won significant awards or honors or that have been independently released as a recording by several notable artists', bands or groups are probably notable. -> This indicates that just because it charted or had a cover, it is probably notable, not that automatically is notable. Tbhotch and © 21:48, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Quote directly "Songs that have been ranked on national or significant music charts, that have won significant awards or honors or that have been independently released as a recording by several notable artists, bands or groups are probably notable." --Cprice1000talk2me 21:49, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
True: it's possible to meet WP:NSONGS and still not warrant an article, but if a song doesn't meet WP:NSONGS and has failed at AFD, it certainly doesn't warrant an article. As I said above, my redirection was based on failing WP:NSONGS. I didn't delete until I had discovered the prior AFD.—Kww(talk) 21:52, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
