These articles really annoy me because IMHO they are:
|-
* Articles which cannot possibly be attributed to reliable sources, including especially neologisms and original theories and conclusions
|style="border-top: 1px solid gray;" | For being the "Last of the Mohicans"--one of the few women who has not been driven off the Gender Gap Task Force or the GGTF ArbCom case.
* BLP issues since they claim various individuals are part of their faction without providing evidence
|}
Basically one or a small group of people have created these phrases, use them in their small circles, and then put up articles to advertise and promote their ideas.

Hi, Carolmooredc.
It's probably not very libertarian to want to delete them, but is it wikipedian? I need another opinion for my peace of mind and advise on how to proceed with most dubious articles, i.e., one by one or all at once? Carol Moore 18:18, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Carolmooredc {talk}
I have seen this rather amusing barnstar floating around and cannot think of anyone who deserves it more than you do. You have continued to Assume Good Faith, and have patiently answered even the most hostile statements, long after anyone else would have lost patience and concluded that they were being trolled. Just for the record, this is no longer a gender-specific barnstar, but the irony of the original version is just too perfect.

Feminists Engage Wikipedia
:Carol, I agree, they all seem to be neologisms. If you attack Right-libertarian, I would also plan to go after Left-libertarian or explain why not. Neolibertarian looks like nothing but a definition and Mainstream libertarianism has no cites; I would particularly support the idea that they should be deleted. I probably won't be around to participate, and who knows the discussion might change my mind (or yours) but I don't think it's unreasonable to nominate some or all of these for deletion (curious, how did you happen to ask me?)--Doug.(talk <small>•</small> contribs) 18:13, 17 August 2008 (UTC).

Hi Carol, Neolibertarianism. To me this sounds like neoconservatism. To impose one's ideology using the gouvernment is not Libertarianism at all. I agree that they're are different degrees of libertarianism but this one is hidden neoconservatism wanting to call itself something else. Carolmooredc: please do not change the Sommers article to read, 'Hoff Sommers criticizes what she considers politically correct trends within feminism, while others consider her to be antifeminist.' == Inappropriate language ==
Kitten
Thank you for the kitten, which I will move to my user page. If you mean that Wikipedia was dragging you in and that the ArbCom case is letting you try something else in your retirement, so be it. But if you choose to come back after your time is served, you won't be a septuagenarian, but still a sexagenarian. I can do the arithmetic as well as you can, except that I don't have to do the arithmetic, because I'm a '48er also. I'm not that far from you either in time or in space (only, evidently, in gender). My sympathies or something.
Carolmooredc: you recently made an edit that introduced this sentence to the article on Christina Hoff Sommers: "Hoff bemoans the fact that "conservative scholars have effectively been marginalized, silenced, and rendered invisible on most campuses."

I suppose that, as a libertarian, you have very mixed feelings about the late Mr. Barry. What ward are you in? Robert McClenon (talk) 02:48, 29 November 2014 (UTC)
This kind of language is completely inappropriate for an encyclopedia article. Don't refer to Sommers as "Hoff", and in addition, don't use words like "bemoans" if you can help it. It makes Sommers's perfectly rational criticisms sound like emotional whining, and though it may not quite amount to BLP violation, it's definitely inappropriate. == Good luck ==
::Of course, one issue is that I do edit on political topics where people are more likely to be contentious, and where there tend not to be too many women at all, so that obviously is a factor. The guy is already in a bad mood that someone comes up with WP:RS sources disagreeing with his viewpoint - and then it turns out to be a female! Usually one is accused of having the most obnoxious view of the most extremist people who might have somewhat similar views, and various pejorative phrases or accusations often are thrown in. Being a libertarian, I've gotten it from both left and right! So maybe this would have to be a survey regarding if more women experience WP:Attack if they appear to be on some specific side of contentious topics. Of course, condescension can be another problem, but that's subjective and not wiki-illegal :-) Looking at my contributions I can probably find several recent examples, and some from past editing issues. "Shower upon him every earthly blessing, drown him in a sea of happiness, so that nothing but bubbles of bliss can be seen on the surface; give him economic prosperity, such that he should have nothing else to do but sleep, eat cakes and busy himself with the continuation of his species, and even then out of sheer ingratitude, sheer spite, man would play you some nasty trick. He would even risk his cakes and would deliberately desire the most fatal rubbish, the most uneconomical absurdity, simply to introduce into all this positive good sense his fatal fantastic element. It is just his fantastic dreams, his vulgar folly that he will desire to retain, simply in order to prove to himself—as though that were so necessary— that men still are men and not the keys of a piano, which the laws of nature threaten to control so completely that soon one will be able to desire nothing but by the calendar."

Carol, I tried to put in a reference to the NYT to an edit to the timeline but for some reason I don't understand it didn't come out right. The insert was for 28 April 2004, on the net capital rule change. Reference is NYT, The Reckoning, Agency's 04 rule let banks pile up new debt, http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/03/business/03sec.html I thought I got all the code right but apparently missed something. Since Hank Paulsen led this initiative while then heading up Goldman Sachs, it really needs to be in this timeline. (A real contribution by the way, thanks to you and everyone else who contributed!) Sorry to ask for help, but I usually only look at Hong Kong related stuff on wikipedia and seldom make a contribution even there except when something glaring is wrong or missing. Last of the Mohicans[edit]

The Working Man's Barnstar
For being the "Last of the Mohicans"--one of the few women who has not been driven off the Gender Gap Task Force or the GGTF ArbCom case.

Hi, Carolmooredc. Regards, —Neotarf (talk) 13:50, 10 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I actually looked up WP:NOTSUICIDE and I don't get it. As I asked at talk "Does it mean we can kick obvious trolls butts? Or that we should quit rather than commit suicide?" Carolmooredc (Talkie-Talkie) 13:56, 10 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ha, ha, enjoy. —Neotarf (talk) 15:01, 10 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Kittens and puppies for helpful and friendly editors[edit]

Don't have energy to post separately. These are for those who have seen through the nonsense of the last six months, whether or not you have yet chosen to speak out.

Also feel free to delete any of those negative/nasty/harassing comments I always get if anyone leaves them here, since I probably won't be allowed to.

Your return is eagerly awaited !!!![edit]

Loved the kittens !!! Lots of people eagerly await your return. IMO, you are getting the rough treatment because they were powerless to protect you from those out to harass you. So, they cover their own weakness in this way. What other option do they have ? In a way, I approve that you should leave, rather than suffer for contributing in a community which failed you with its inability to stop the harassers. Best.OrangesRyellow (talk) 15:24, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Being a glass half-filled optimist, I see reform as inevitable, even if I retire to my jacuzzi and my polo matches. Right... Carolmooredc (Talkie-Talkie) 15:27, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Reform is inevitable. It is just a question of how many people must suffer, and be scapegoated/sacrificed like you, before the community comes to its senses.OrangesRyellow (talk) 15:50, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, gives me yet another idea. A quickie video like on Talking Dead with the names of "this decades departed" scrolling by to dirge music with faded death masks as background. Of course, I'm sure there were a few who really did deserve it. I even supported one myself once! Carolmooredc (Talkie-Talkie) 16:23, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you![edit]

The Special Barnstar
Please accept this barnstar in recognition of your attempts to change the current culture of Wikipedia. I hope you return with a renewed passion for the project and keep your sense of humour. In the meantime, do take a look at other open knowledge projects, there are plenty that deliver excellent worthwhile outcomes, not only encyclopaedias. Commons, for example, has far less self-feeding dramah and far fewer wikilawyers. (talk) 17:22, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Thank you for the adorable kittens! I may have a dog now but I grew up a cat person and I still love them.

I wish things had worked out differently. I hope to see you back as soon as possible. Until then, may your days be filled with relaxation, happiness, and kittens. Ca2james (talk) 17:23, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A pie for you![edit]

Many thanks for the adorable kitten you delivered to my talk page. I have used it as an ingredient in this delicious hot meat pie; please have a slice and take a moment to savour the taste and enjoy simpler pleasures. (Or, if vegetarian pies are preferred, you could leave this one for meat-eating friends.) I hope to see you back on Wikipedia sooner rather than later. Gender equality here needs all the help it can get - not to mention civility, neutrality, and other oft-ignored principles. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 17:54, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
One more. I am so sorry, Carol. Best wishes to you. --GRuban (talk) 01:16, 29 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Kitten[edit]

Thank you for the kitten, which I will move to my user page. If you mean that Wikipedia was dragging you in and that the ArbCom case is letting you try something else in your retirement, so be it. But if you choose to come back after your time is served, you won't be a septuagenarian, but still a sexagenarian. I can do the arithmetic as well as you can, except that I don't have to do the arithmetic, because I'm a '48er also. I'm not that far from you either in time or in space (only, evidently, in gender). My sympathies or something.

I suppose that, as a libertarian, you have very mixed feelings about the late Mr. Barry. What ward are you in? Robert McClenon (talk) 02:48, 29 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Onward and upward and all that. I'm in ward 5. Met Barry in 1988 and he was definitely a charismatic figure. Carolmooredc (Talkie-Talkie) 04:44, 29 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Kitten (2)[edit]

I will do my best. Enjoy your Wikibreak. --The Vintage Feminist (talk) 15:31, 29 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Good luck[edit]

Good luck Carol. I entirely agree with Tarc's remark. I look forward to your return. -- C1cada (talk) 23:25, 29 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Good luck Carol! I just saw the news of your ban, and find that rather unfortunate. We need more people voicing in a radical way critiques of gender equality on Wikipedia, and its a real shame that it came back to bite you. I didn't follow the conversation, but hope it doesn't discourage you from continuing in some capacity in shaping the Wikimedia community to better recognize harassment in the community. Sadads (talk) 19:52, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hm, that's quite a solid source for an entry at list of Wikipedia controversies. Tarc (talk) 21:02, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
