Hi Adrian
Nut Goddess Picture
March 21, 2011<br>
Hi Adrian,<br>
I have been doing some online research trying to find the original information about this particular picture of the Nut Goddess. There are numerous pictures like this on the internet, I came across your picture and thought I'd ask a real person that may be able to help me. I am painting this picture of Nut on a large canvas but I can't seem to find the image's origin and I need to enlarge without distortion or find where I can see the hierglyphics better in order to paint them properly. Thank you!

I am not familiar with 'behind the sceens' Wikipedia but I would like to use one of your images. It is the one of my son, Chris Pote, leaving RIAT at Fairford this year in his EurofoxLR G-GBNZ. It is already in the public domain, but I would prefer to be in contact with you and keep you informed of his progress. I am preparing a 'press release' for New Zealand and will send you a copy.

My email is ********.
:Hi Paula, thanks for writing. Regrettably I can't help you! I have no memory of how I helped with this picture but my guess is that I cleaned it up in some way, maybe by altering the contrast, colours or tilt. I wasn't the uploader of the pic so have no idea where it was found. Sorry! - Adrian Pingstone (talk) 10:01, 22 March 2011 (UTC)

File:USAF C-130J Super Hercules at RIAT 2010 arp.jpg
Adrian, a user has questioned if :File:USAF C-130J Super Hercules at RIAT 2010 arp.jpg is actually of a C-130J. As far as I can tell, from the angle of the 4 visible blades, these are 6-bladed props. Do you remember the aircraft, or have a way to check its tail number to confirm that it is indeed a C-130J? Thanks. - BilCat (talk) 08:03, 31 March 2011 (UTC)
:BilCat, thanks for letting me know of the users deletion. Yes, this is most certainly a J model, it so happens that the other 2 blades lie up with the nacelle and can't be seen. This is proven if you look at picture http://www.abpic.co.uk/popup.php?q=1244860 on Air Britains website, which is the exact same aircraft (serial 78613). I will give the Anon the Air Britain link, and make a note on the Image Description Page that it IS 6-bladed. Best Wishes - Adrian Pingstone (talk) 16:20, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

::Thanks! I also asked about the image at WT:AIR#C-130 identity, and got some great responses. It's actually a C-130J-30 stretched model, so if you can update the file comments to reflect that, it would be good. Thanks again. - BilCat (talk) 17:04, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

Interview request
Hello, my name is Natalia Ioana Olaru and I am a final year master student in the Corporate Communication programme at the Aarhus School of Business, Aarhus University, Denmark. I am currently working on my final paper on the topic of user motivation to create content on collaborative media websites, the focus being Wikipedia. As a sample I chose the English and Danish portals.
I would like to invite you for an online interview on the topic of what motivates you, to participate in editing and creating articles for this platform. I plan on doing the actual interviews in the period between 1st and the 15th of May via Skype, MSN or Yahoo Messenger. I am, however, open to other channels of communication too.
Please let me know if you would like to participate in this interview and the preferred channel, Thank you,

Bristol Balloon _Bridgit
Good evening; I am impressed with your photography. I am the pilot of the Bristol Balloon and remember the flight well that you captured landing at Yate. I had flown to 8,000' from Bath and had a granny, her grandson (16) and the BBC presnter Sally Chanoller and her partner on board. A very memorable flight and lovely to see it recorded.

I will be flying the balloon tomorow morning (10/08/11) for the Press launch of the Bristol Balloon Fiesta whihc takes placve this weekend. The balloon is now 9 years old and has 310 flying and 60 hours tethering.
Kind regards, Derek Maltby

:Thanks for writing, how interesting to hear about my photo! I remember it well, partly because of your daring manoevre to hop the inflated balloon across the field hedge and onto the Westerleigh road verge (a very busy road!) for easier transport later. [removed my message, left in error]

:Dear Marek69, your reversion of EVERY edit I made to that Kenya school article is a very odd thing to do. I have been editing Wiikipedia since 2002 so I do not need to "learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia". I can justify every single edit I made but life is too short for that. So your reversion of every edit I made, back to the previous low quality article, will remain. ::Yes, it most certainly is my picture. My wife has the bracelet in her collection and I took the picture myself in February 2003. I declared it Public Domain (as with all my several thousand pictures on Wikipedia) so maybe my note of the photo date is wrong and maybe the magazine was careless and attibuted it to the wrong person. == One step at a time please ==

Howdy Arpingstone, In as much as I accept your right to edit the Accra Academy article, I do not appreciate the manner in which you hastily did it, especially since it was a major clean up you were performing. At first glance it seemed as if you had done a perfectly good job, however I find myself now and then correcting mistakes which would have been avoided had you edited the whole article one step at a time. After-all our contributions are to improve the quality of information on Wikipedia. I hope you will understand. (Osy 06:31, 29 March 2012 (UTC)) User: Osy
::Because you give no examples of my supposed errors I can't reply properly to you (just one or two examples would have been enough). I have been editing for ten years and am highly experienced at it so a significant number of editing errors is highly unlikely. Whenever people have given me examples of errors I have been able to show that most were correct edits. The critic has usually not understood that this is an encyclopedia and not a school brochure. == mandarin duck image ==
Hi there,
I did a painting of a mandarin duck for my dad as a birthday gift when he started breeding them. I used your photo as ref for the painting since it was the best one that came up on the google search.<br>
The painting is here if you are interested in seeing it:
duck<br>
Anyway i did not worry about copyright etc when i made it since it was a gift for a family member. This was a couple of years ago.

I have recently been approached to have the painting included in a a book. Since the image is a driect copy i thought i would ask your permission rather than just say no to the oportunity. Do you mind if the image of the painting is included in the book? I do not know anything about the book company but they provided a link to their website if you are interested: http://skillism.com/
If you find the time to reply to this can you reply via email: jakegumbleton (at) hotmail.com (no spaces and an @ in the middle)<br>

::::tps Hello Sharad. Adrian doesn't seem to have edited here for a little while, so I hope neither you nor he will mind me stepping in, in the hope of helping. If you have a look at the photo's information at the link you gave, you will see that it says 28 July 2008 once in the summary and twice in the metadata. Whilst these cannot absolutely be guaranteed accurate (Adrian might be a mad deceiver and might be editing the metadata and simply fibbing in the summary, or his camera's clock setting might have been wrong) it is very, very likely that they are correct. The metadata is supplied automatically by the camera and is very likely to be right, and most cameras' clocks will tend to be right or rightish. The balance of probabilities is very much in favour of 28 July 2008 though clearly 100% certainty would be hard to attain.
::::For my curiosity and perhaps Adrian's when he sees this, do you mind telling us where the photo is circulating and why the wrong information is a problem? Hello, I just noticed your edits on the Wiki entry. Thank you for your nice restructuring of the entry, a job well done. But I do have some comments on the edits, first being the pictures of the stairs. In the entry, there was a part: ".... The stairs from the front of the Badminton Hall to the Canteen were upgraded, as were the stairs from the Canteen to the field", and the pictures of the stairs were added to illustrate the upgrade, but I couldn't provide a before/after picture. Next, it seems that the school's vision and mission were omitted, was that accidental? Third, it is orderly to arrange all the pictures on one side, but the original layout could have been slightly improved instead, as they were arranged according to their respective years which they occurred.WHZhang (talk) 10:23, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

::Thanks for writing to me. I know that those photos took a lot of effort to prepare and add to the article (I have put several thousand aircraft pics on Wikipedia since I began editing in 2002). However, despite the effort, those pics are not encyclopedic. School pics might be of classrooms, buildings, sports, school activities, school staff or founders, but definitely not of steps or roofs. Those pics I removed looked strange in the article and I have never met anything like them in my editing of many thousands of school articles. It's not enjoyable to remove other people's hard work, but sadly it had to be done for the sake of a better encyclopedia<br>
::added a link pointing to CBSE
::My removal of the Vision and Mission statements was intentional. Such statements aren't allowed on Wikipedia because they can apply to any school in the world so carry no information to the reader.<br>

My work included Concorde noise measurements (as an acoustics engineer), then studies of the effect of Concorde on the environment (as an assistant environmental scientist), and finally Airbus A320, A330 and A340 wing design (as a senior aerodynamicist)."

On my part – I am in the Aeronautical Engineering educational filed – working more than 50 years permanently as a staff member – initially Warsaw TU, then Rzeszow TU, then 9 years teaching Flight Mechanics in Tripoli at the Aeronautical Engineering Department, then returning to Rzeszow TU eventually I reached the professorship (from the hands of the late President – Prof. Lech Kaczynski - on April 17, AD 2008). I decided to close my educational field where I left behind me some few books by writing two volume opus on Aeroelasticity – being my narrow field of specialization (where I took both scientific degrees: Dr and Habilitation) - presenting the subject restrained to the problem of the interaction between an airplane and atmospheric gusts. The first book on the gust response studies is now ready for printing. And there is a one interesting topic. Leading to something common between us if we have in mind your photographic hobby.

Hello! I am working on the article Hypericum. The image of :Image:Hypericum.flower.750pix.jpg has many questions surrounding it and I would like to get in touch with you about it rather than simply remove it from the article. If I cannot resolve that it really is Hypericum calycinum, I will have to remove it. Thank you, Fritzmann2002 19:05, 14 December 2015 (UTC)
I decided to expose and commemorate with this book a one single airplane - the bomber B-52 which at the early designing stage underwent catastrophic accidents in the gusty conditions causing tragic casualties due to the faulty design of its rudder. In those accidents always has been damaged the vertical tail. After five such accidents 1963-64 – the Boeing discovered the technical fault: the vertical tail had to be redesigned and after that - the incidents have been definitively ceased. Having this in mind I came to the idea that B-52 can be understood as a symbol of the fight between Man and the Nature. Therefore I place on my book covers pictures presenting only this airplane in different configurations. One of such pictures (I still did not fix how many I will place there – but it seems 6-8 pictures will play the game) has been taken by you, the other are pictures made by some military photographers – due to the fact that they can be freely copied – one more by Timothy Beach who kindly allows me to use it.
:Thank you for your kindness in writing to me. I put that picture on 13 years ago so have no memory of where I took it nor which hypericum it is (but know I took it near where I live in Bristol, England). Since the pic is now very old you are welcome to remove it - I have 2000 pictures on Wikipedia so I won't miss it! - Arpingstone (talk) 20:06, 14 December 2015 (UTC)
::Thank you for replying quickly. I am glad can remove the picture without any controversy. Happy Wiki-ing! Fritzmann2002 13:20, 15 December 2015 (UTC)

::Hi from England!<br>
::Thanks for writing to me, your letter was very interesting.

::I joined British Aerospace at Filton in 1960 as an aircraft electrician but found no "intellectual stimulation" in wiring Brittania aircraft (!) and so worked my way up the company, ending with the post of Senior Aerodynamicist (I am now retired). On the way I got a B.Sc degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Bath in 1966.

::In Aerodynamics I had a very narrow specialisation on Parasitic Drag Control which, as you will know, is control of the drag of excrescences, bumps, misfitting rivets, out of alignment control surfaces, rough paint, waviness, gaps etc. So I received every Airbus drawing from the Filton design office that involved the standard of the wing exterior surface, calculated the drag penalty and, if necessary, changed the design to reach the standard of fit that my department demanded. I only dealt with the wings - the fuselage, fin and tail Parasitic Drag was looked after by Aerodynamicists of the Airbus partners in Spain, France and Germany.

Permission to use figure in a book.
::Luckily I had to personally check the wing build quality that was achieved so went frequently to Chester in Wales to check wing sets, and to Toulouse (36 times) and to Bremen and Hamburg (6 times) to check completed A320, A330 and A340 aircraft.

Dear Adrian,
::My best job in Acoustics Lab (that I was Head of) was to measure interior Concorde noise in flight, in the cabin and on the flight deck. Of course, I gave myself that job!! So I went on five Concorde test flights (to a total of nineteen hours of flight) with my portable sound level meter and portable tape recorder.
I am working with Prof. Steven LaValle to help obtain permissions for borrowing figures or pictures in his upcoming book Virtual Reality, to be published by Cambridge University Press. The book is online here:

http://vr.cs.uiuc.edu/
::I think my favourite aircraft in all the world is the B52, I only saw one flying once at departures day at the Fairford Air Show (Fairford is about 50 miles from where I live). A most majestic machine!

We are hoping to include the picture of yours (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/60/Grey_square_optical_illusion.PNG) in this book (Chapter 6, Figure 6.23b). Could we please have your permission for this? Thank you.

your picture on wikipedia about a morris minor 4doors saloon from 1953.
:The relevant bit (in the quote below from 5.1.2) starts "Specific students......."

I found your really sharp picture of this 4doors morris minor saloon.
:"Extracurricular activities – Mention the sports team(s) of the school and what is notable about them. Here is also a good place to mention specific traditions of school, like students' union/student council activities, a student newspaper, clubs, regular activities, etc. The heading may be changed accordingly in regard to the importance of sports, clubs, traditions, students' unions etc. For example, alternative headings could be Students' Union, Sports and Traditions or Students' Union Activities. Specific students should not be mentioned unless they are notable in their own right. Major extra curricular championships should be appropriately listed in a "Sports", "Athletics", or "Activities" section. Major extra curricular championships will be defined as the highest possible championship a team can win from that activity's organizing committee. In the United States, this would nominally be a "state championship". Individual awards should generally not be listed. National championships, when referenced, may also be listed. "

I recently bought exectly the same minor also from 1953 and I would like to come in contact with the owner for details for my restauration.
:In the case of students names there is virtually no possibility that the student is famous in their own right so that is why I edit out student's names. Best Wishes Adrian Pingstone (talk) 23:15, 13 February 2013 (UTC)

Greetings from across the Atlantic! I see that you wrote the article on Tillandsia, and I thank you. I think this genus of plants is of interest to many people and there is much more to be said. I have done a bit of editing to the article and failed to upload a picture of one of my plants in bloom for a reason that I don't understand. I think there is much more to be done instead of repeating that "some of these plants live in the forest, some live in the desert, some are green and some are grey, some have thick leaves and the leaves of others are thinner" which is almost the way this article reads :-), and without sources. Some of it seems to be badly translated from German, and tried to fix that. If there is a general work on this genus of plants in English that I could obtain by inter-library loan I would like to know about it, if you know of it. Briefly, my background is in biology, zoology, then law and then computers and computer networks. I wrote the article Shoal Creek, Austin, Texas a year or two ago, and I am working on some others now, but I grow these plants and would welcome any suggestions you have for contributions that I might make. I mainly worked on inserting aircraft pictures and on editing grammatical errors (my greatest hate is use of the word “current”). == Bailiffgate Museum ==
Adrian<br>
I am the webmaster at Bailiffgate Museum. There are various changes to the Museum's content & structure that I should put onto Wilikipedia but I have never been involved before. I see you have been doing various tidying up of the pages. As you live in Bristol can I ask what got you involved with Bailiffgate?<br>
Regards Bailiffgatewebmaster (talk) 14:36, 11 July 2013 (UTC)

::Thanks for writing. The reason I edited the museum article is that it appeared on a Wikipedia page called cat:promo (which means "Category:Promotional"). To see that list just type cat:promo into the search box on any Wikipedia page and the page will appear somewhere near the top of the results list.<br>
::The "cat:promo" page is a list of articles that sound (in whole or in part) like an advert. I am working my way through that (massive) list and the museum article was in it (I don't know why it's in the list, it doesn't sound like an advert to me!). I edit 10 or so such articles each day, and then remove the Advert tag at the top of the articles.

::Looking at my edits of the museum article I notice that one is wrong. I deleted "traditional" near the beginning but that was wrong because the sentence makes better sense with traditional left in (I'll correct that). The other edits are mostly for what I call padding words. For example "The museum has close links with the local community and offers many different activities for local schools and educational groups". Remove "many different" and the sense of the sentence is entirely unchanged. Best Wishes, - Adrian Pingstone (talk) 20:59, 11 July 2013 (UTC)

:::Thanks. I'm sure our English can be improved, so help always welcome. The Museum is genuine and the entry is intended to (obviously) help motivate visitors. I suppose that borders on Advertising, but all statements are truthful. We have just received a major Lottery grant to improve our museum layout and presentation, so I will be updating our entry with that aspect soon..

Hi Adrian, it's been awhile since we've spoken, so I hope all is well with you. Do you happen to have a wider view of the aircraft in :File:Wing.slat.600pix.jpg? Some users are taking the "300" on the fuselage to mean it's an A300, while your file info clearly states that it's an "A310-300". A larger view might help settle the argumemt, and we could recrop it to show the full designation. Thanks. BilCat (talk) 01:35, 12 December 2020 (UTC)
::Hi from Adrian, nice to hear from you. I'm in good health and reached 80 years old in July (but no celebrations due to Mr (or Mrs) Virus). Dear Mr. Pingstone,
Question concerning the deletion of football content on Iona Prep Wikipedia page
I would like to use your picture (Kelvin wakes on Avon) for an example discussion of
I'm the person who wrote the football history on the Iona Prep Wikipedia page, and I'd like to know who you are why most of the content was deleted. I spent a lot of time and effort to add the information, and I don't like to see my work arbitrarily deleted. If you're 3,000 miles away in England, you don't know anything about Iona Prep in the first place.
water waves in the german language textbook Gerthsen Physik. I am the editor of the book.

I understand that we could simply go ahead according to the licences announced on Wikipedia.
Nobody is forcing anyone to read content on Wikipedia, and if someone is bored with too much information, they can very easily skip over it.
Nevertheless I would prefer to have your personal consent.

I was trying to find an email with no success. If you send me a note at
I added the information to the article a few years ago, and this is only the second time that the content has been mangled. I would like to reinsert the information, but I don't want the content to be modified or deleted a second time. A lot of articles on Wikipedia have far more content than Iona Prep's article. Deletions should be handled with caution and common sense.

:Thank you for your message. Here are my replies:
:"I'd like to know who you are?" I am a highly-experienced Wikipedia editor (as I see you are from your Contributions record) who knows extremely well what is OK in Wikipedia and what is not. I have edited nearly every day since 2003 (many thousands of articles).<br>
:"I don't like to see my work arbritrarily deleted" Of course not but it was not "arbitrarily deleted" it was deleted because it was not according to the structure expected in a Wikipedia article! An article should not be totally dominated by one of the articles's sections, in this case football results.<br>
:And it is no longer "My work" once you click Save. Anyone who finds a fault in the article should correct it. The feelings of the writer unfortunately cannot be a consideration. The problem lies with yourself in not realising the entry length was majorly out of proportion with the rest of the article.<br>
:"I don't know anything about Iona Prep". Of course I don't!!! I live in Bristol, England But I do know what a balanced article looks like so knowledge of the school is irrelevant.<br>
:"Deletions should be handled with caution and common sense". Not so, they are handled according to the rules of Wikipedia! <br>

Hi Adrian

I am not familiar with 'behind the sceens' Wikipedia but I would like to use one of your images. It is the one of my son, Chris Pote, leaving RIAT at Fairford this year in his EurofoxLR G-GBNZ. It is already in the public domain, but I would prefer to be in contact with you and keep you informed of his progress. I am preparing a 'press release' for New Zealand and will send you a copy. My email is ********. Cheers Jonathan--122.56.234.66 (talk) 02:11, 14 September 2018 (UTC) 122.56.234.66 (talk) 02:11, 14 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Jonathon, thank you for writing, I have replied by email. By the way, I have removed your email (having taken a note of it) because to give it here is to invite email harvesting programs to send you lots of stuff you don't want! Hi Adrian...I am Sharad from India. Doing fact check story. Need your help. one of your photo is edited and circulating in social media with wrong information. you took a photo of bus in bath city. I want to know when was it taken.
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Tour_bus_in_bath_england_arp.jpg 223.233.78.185 (talk) 05:32, 10 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) Hello Sharad.
For my curiosity and perhaps Adrian's when he sees this, do you mind telling us where the photo is circulating and why the wrong information is a problem? I'm having grave difficulty imagining how this would work! Cheers DBaK (talk) 09:14, 10 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Update: ah, I see ... stuff like this. Interesting. Oh and this one: Adrian, you must watch the video! Does this stuff happen to you all the time?? Cheers DBaK (talk) 09:19, 10 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hullo, I am Adrian Pingstone. I have gone back through my photos and checked the date of the bus pic. I definitely took it on 28th July 2008 in Bath (I live about 15 miles away and my wife likes shopping there). Thanks for your question. Big thanks to DBak for a great reply. Permission to use figure in a book.[edit]

Dear Adrian, I am working with Prof. Steven LaValle to help obtain permissions for borrowing figures or pictures in his upcoming book Virtual Reality, to be published by Cambridge University Press. The book is online here:

We are hoping to include the picture of yours (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/60/Grey_square_optical_illusion.PNG) in this book (Chapter 6, Figure 6.23b). Could we please have your permission for this? Thank you.

Hello - I have a question about a word used on the article KJAK. There is a sentence which starts out: "The station had desensing problems". I am not sure of the meaning intended with the use of the word "desensing"; I can't find it in any printed or online dictionaries. Maybe you can clear this up? If you'd like to reply here, I'll be watching for your response, or ping me. User:Rudy2alan (talk)

EC-400[edit]

Just to let you know that EC-400 has nothing to do with the Spanish Air Force, it is being used as a demonstrator by Airbus Military and is to be delivered to the Royal Air Force as ZM421 at some point. MilborneOne (talk) 15:11, 12 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is Wastrel Way[edit]

Hello[edit]

Hi Adrian. We used to interact many many years ago here when I edited under a different name. I greatly value your contributions and I note you've been a bit quiet recently. Are you OK? I do hope so. With all good wishes DBaK (talk) 13:39, 1 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi from Adrian! Nice to hear from you. Yes, I have been quiet for some years now. I mainly worked on inserting aircraft pictures and on editing grammatical errors (my greatest hate is use of the word “current”). However, most aircraft articles are now fully illustrated so I found I could use very few of my aircraft pics, and I have no interest in just adding them into the huge collection on Commons. I grew tired of editing grammatical errors, so have stopped all contributions but could come back one day. I do have a session of adding pictures after each Fairford Air Show so I will always add something each year. Thanks for writing, Best wishes, Arpingstone (talk) 09:00, 19 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry I never replied to this – when I read it I was in India and had plenty of other things on my mind, and then a school trip to Wales and then some wretched pandemic intervened. Thanks for the Brownie (my favourite cake, how did you know!). Your lovely comment is much appreciated. Thanks Arpingstone (talk)

Should I say HB2U?[edit]

Dear Adrian, I have just seen your userpage edit and am wondering if urgent congrats are called for? If so please consider it done, and a certain song sung or played at you too. And I hope you are having an excellent day whether this particular one has an extra numerical significance or not! Cheers DBaK (talk) 11:12, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

File:Wing.slat.600pix.jpg[edit]

Hi Adrian, it's been awhile since we've spoken, so I hope all is well with you. Do you happen to have a wider view of the aircraft in File:Wing.slat.600pix.jpg? Some users are taking the "300" on the fuselage to mean it's an A300, while your file info clearly states that it's an "A310-300". A larger view might help settle the argumemt, and we could recrop it to show the full designation. Thanks. BilCat (talk) 01:35, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi from Adrian, nice to hear from you. I'm in good health and reached 80 years old in July (but no celebrations due to Mr (or Mrs) Virus). Nowadays I do very little on WP because the aircraft pages are mostly fully illustrated so I can use decreasingly few of my pictures. I do a little editing for grammar and style.
In answer to your question, unfortunately I have no copy of that picture and no information on it. I tried looking for that window gap on pictures of prototypes and flight test aircraft, but no luck.
Sorry I can’t help. I would have no objection to removal of the pic if the aircraft type remains uncertain. Best wishes, Arpingstone (talk) 18:29, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Over 2 years later the question has come up again. But I also found this photo of an A310-300 in the same livery, probably the same aircraft. It has the same window gap after the -300. I hope all is still well with you.

Larger macaw picture?[edit]

Hello! Would you happen to have a higher resolution / wider crop of commons:File:Parrot.red.macaw.1.arp.750pix.jpg? It would make for a nice desktop background. I know the photo is 16+ years old now, so it's probably a long shot. codl (talk) 19:18, 14 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

What a shame! In those far-off days I was stupid enough not to keep the larger resolution pic when I reduced them in size for WP. I don't remember why I used 750 pixels as my standard upload size. Nowadays of course I wouldn't do that! Thanks for writing, Best wishes Arpingstone (talk) 08:02, 16 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

An edit from 2012[edit]

Hi Arpingstone - I/m confused by this edit of yours from 2012, where you seem to be overwriting an article about St. Anthony's School, Ranchi, Jharkand, by an article about Sacred Heart Convent School (Jamshedpur) - a different school in a totally different city.
I don't expect you to remember it, but can you throw any light on this? as the page history has not helped me - thanks - Arjayay (talk) 12:52, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for writing. Unfortunately I am completely baffled by what has happened! It's really weird!! I would never vandalise Wikipedia and am highly experienced in editing but I can't work out what happened. So, sorry, but I can't help. Best wishes Arpingstone (talk) 08:01, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Using Picture of Kelvin Wake for the textbook Gerthsen Physik (in german language)[edit]

Dear Mr. Pingstone,

I would like to use your picture (Kelvin wakes on Avon) for an example discussion of water waves in the german language textbook Gerthsen Physik. I am the editor of the book.

I understand that we could simply go ahead according to the licences announced on Wikipedia. Nevertheless I would prefer to have your personal consent.

I was trying to find an email with no success. If you send me a note at "meschede AT uni-bonn DOT (followed by a D and an E)" I could send you the section of the manuscript.
