Hi Adrian
{{usertalkheader}}

I am not familiar with 'behind the sceens' Wikipedia but I would like to use one of your images. It is the one of my son, Chris Pote, leaving RIAT at Fairford this year in his EurofoxLR G-GBNZ. It is already in the public domain, but I would prefer to be in contact with you and keep you informed of his progress. I am preparing a 'press release' for New Zealand and will send you a copy.

Hi Adrian I was seriously thinking to submit the photo above to FPC.

Considering that there is only 3 FP by wikipedian in the aviation topic and your huge photographic contribution I think you deserve to be featured. However considering the current state of mind the voters on FPC I think they will oppose on ground of excessive JPEG aa

:::Hi Adrian...I am Sharad from India. Doing fact check story. Need your help. one of your photo is edited and circulating in social media with wrong information. you took a photo of bus in bath city. I want to know when was it taken.

::::{{tps}} Hello Sharad. Adrian doesn't seem to have edited here for a little while, so I hope neither you nor he will mind me stepping in, in the hope of helping. If you have a look at the photo's information at the link you gave, you will see that it says {{tq|28 July 2008}} once in the summary and twice in the metadata. Whilst these cannot ''absolutely'' be guaranteed accurate (Adrian ''might'' be a mad deceiver and ''might'' be editing the metadata and simply fibbing in the summary, or his camera's clock setting ''might'' have been wrong) it is very, very likely that they are correct. The metadata is supplied automatically by the camera and is very likely to be right, and most cameras' clocks will tend to be right or rightish. The balance of probabilities is very much in favour of 28 July 2008 though clearly 100% certainty would be hard to attain.
::::For my curiosity and perhaps Adrian's when he sees this, do you mind telling us where the photo is circulating and why the wrong information is a problem? I'm having grave difficulty imagining how this would work! Cheers [[User:DisillusionedBitterAndKnackered|DBaK]] ([[User talk:DisillusionedBitterAndKnackered|talk]]) 09:14, 10 July 2022 (UTC)

[[Image:Virgin_Maintenance_Hanger_v2.JPG|thumb|right|cleaned up version]] Don't you think the cleaned up version of the A340 picture is better? I agree it's not ideal, but hardly "terrible" IMHO. I'd prefer to see the article with it than without it. Equipment in a maintenance hangar lends an interesting angle to the article, don't you think? Ideally, you or someone else would have a better quality image to replace it with, though. I do like the other images you've added to the article ... :Thank you for your calm reply. However I don't think you can have looked at many Wikipedia pictures because (not to pull any punches) this one is up with the worst I have ever seen in an article. My credentials? I've added pics steadily since early 2003 and now have about 1800 added. So sorry, just look around WP, get an idea of what the standard is and then you will probably understand. Also your suggestion that a poor pic is better than no pic does not apply to a serious encyclopedia. Unfortunately I don't have a better picture. But other ''frequent editors of that article'' agree with me that it's better to have it than not, despite its lack of quality. In other words, we wish to have an image of a VS bird in a hangar, even though this one's not ideal. For more commentary, see [[Talk:Virgin Atlantic Airways]], but only if you too have a thick skin ;-) Of course, if the consensus should change then we should re-evaluate ... :::I figured you would get a chuckle out of it. It is an interesting set of articles in Time that it was part of. I remember the TR7 when I was young, here in the US, they had a strange ad that showed the TR7 driving into a wedge shaped garage and implied that the wedge shape would inspire other wedge shaped designs. After I saw that piece in Time, I went to the wikipedia article, and lo and behold, it was the same image. I wonder if they used other wikimedia images for some of the other 49 cars. When you're next in Bath Abbey, could you get me a really nice quality pic of the organ? Also, if you see any evidence of a chamber organ, feel free to take that too! I'm putting together a new article for the Abbey in my userspace (see [[User:Vox Humana 8'/Bath Abbey]])and feel that it really needs some decent pics of the organ. If you could gain access to the organ loft to take a pic of the console, that would be very much appreciated. To gain access, you'll probably need to email the Director of Music, Dr. Peter King, a very amiable chap, I believe. His address is as follows: music@bathabbey.org. Mention to him that his organ will gain extra publicity (also, it might not be a bad idea to slip in a "Taken with the kind permission of [http://www.peterking.org/ Dr. Peter King]" - this will gain him extra publicity), and he'll probably be all too willing to help. - [[User talk:Vox Humana 8'|Vox]] [[User:Vox Humana 8'|Humana]] [[Special:Contributions/Vox Humana 8'|8']] 19:26, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

::Hi! First my camera(s): most of my pics are from an Olympus C750UZ digital compact (takes great pics but is no longer on the market), a few are from a Canon S3 IS digital compact (I've abandoned this camera because of purple fringing) and now my very recent aircraft pics are from a most excellent Nikon D50 digital SLR using a Nikon 18 to 200mm telephoto lens. What that sort of "my way or the highway" stubborn attitude, it is no wonder that editors get frustrated when they hit a brick wall like you with someone who is unable to discuss an issue and they leave Wikipedia to those who push their own viewpoint to the exclusion of others. '''I don't like it the way it is so I will do it my way and I don't care about you and anyone else either''' seems to be your way of thinking. So you have a big monitor, big deal so have I but I have no complaints. Now you are forcing others to comply with you. Obviously you did not even read the reference to the guidelines that I gave you about image size otherwise you would not force your thumbnail image size (for some lead images) on others when it is not appropriate in the lead of that particular article. I also suggested there must be a solution that would keep everyone happy but you seem to have conveniently skipped over that suggestion. Just go ahead and do you own thing and don't bother trying to find a suitable solution. [[User:Ww2censor|ww2censor]] 22:16, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

== Need consent to use your image ==
:What an ill tempered response! I've had very many discussions with Wikipedians over the nearly 5 years I've been contributing to WP but have never had a reply this vitriolic. We surely both want the best looking WP possible and part of that look is decent sized pics i.e no tiny 150px wide lead pics!! I can't see how you could disagree with that but you do seem to (unless I'm totally misunderstanding your position). So, summing up, because I care very much about WP I will NOT accept tiny pics (anywhere in the article) that are smaller even than the default pic size of 180px. If that is unreasonable in your eyes, then so be it. Hello,
==Emirates Airline==
I don't mind your recent edits to Emirates Airline but i would have prefered if you had discussed it, in the discussion page before you edited the article.([[User:TB115|TB115]] 11:18, 14 October 2007 (UTC));

I have written a post on Lynton & Lynmouth and about our visit to it on my blog. Soon I am going to publish a book using all these posts.

As you can see here - http://b-young-forever.blogspot.in/2017/04/lynton-lynmouth-devon-atozchallenge.html, I have used an image (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Lynmouth.railway.arp.750pix.jpg) from your contribution on my blog, I need your consent to use the same in the final book.
:Thanks for your comments. However I strongly disagree that it needed discussion. I edit and illustrate mostly aircraft and airline articles and have been doing so since early 2003 (that's not boasting, that's just to establish that I probably know what I'm talking about). So I really have a good knowledge of what is "brochure" writing and what is encyclopedic writing. To be frank with you the Emirates article was among the poorest I've ever seen (that is, it was not written from a neutral point of view) and needed extensive editing to make it sound like an encyclopedia entry and not an Emirates brochure. There is no need for any discussion if an article is so non-neutral point of view that it was annoying to read. In any case, how could I describe each of several dozen edits on the article Talk Page and seek approval for each? Hope you take this reply in the friendly spirit in which I intend it.

Look forward to getting your consent.
:'''Here are a very few examples of some of the unacceptable stuff. First for sounding like an Emirates brochure:'''<br>
:“cutting-edge in-flight entertainment”<br>
:“a range of specially selected fine wines”<br>
:“Full suites, complete with closing doors to ensure privacy, envelop the passenger with luxury from the start”<br>
:“First Class passengers can enjoy one of the most luxurious flying experiences in the world”<br>
:Should an encyclopedia be saying those things?
:'''Now examples of speculation (encyclopedias deal in facts or reasonably certain facts but the fleet in 2012 or 2015 is unacceptable speculation):'''
:“The airline forecasts that its fleet will comprise at least 180 aircraft by 2012 when it is expected to serve 130 destinations and carry some 26 million passengers”<br>
:“Huge capital outlays for retrofits, and possible orders for up to 100 Airbus A350s or Boeing 787s in addition to 10 or more Boeing 747-8I aircraft means Emirates is continuing a multi-billion dollar push”<br>
:“Emirates airline aims to build a fleet of 180 aircraft flying to more than 110 destinations that could make it the world's largest international carrier by 2015.”<br>
:Don't forget that if I make any wrong edits they can be reverted! Best Wishes - [[User:Arpingstone|Adrian Pingstone]] 13:03, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

::You are very welcome to use the picture, thank you for asking.
I don't know why you continue adding incidents to the introductory paragraph and keep insisting that the article is written in a brochure style. I myself have no interest in seeing the page on KE be a publicity vehicle, but your placement of the Guam incident does not appear to fit in the introduction history paragraph of KE. If you insist this should be done, then I suggest that we go through ALL the other airlines and place their accident histories in their intro paragraph for each airline. In addition, your edits hardly appear to delete wholesale certain parts of the article to their bare bones. For this reason, Wikipedia is a failed effort--I keep contributing, but you continue destroying the artice. It is frustrating, so I guess you will continue regardless. == your picture on wikipedia about a morris minor 4doors saloon from 1953. ==
:I strongly resent your totally inaccurate note to me. I have been editing WP since early 2003 so I DO know what an encyclopedia article should look like. I work every day on removing brochure-style writing from airline articles so your accusation is hurtful. It would have been easy for you to check who added the incident note to the Intro, the Korean Air History shows it was not me, it was Anon 205.250.249.50 on 14th October 2007 at 01.06am. I totally agree that it should not be in the Intro. I also totally agree that brochure-style writing is unacceptable. Have you seen the Edit Summary I wrote for my edits of 31st October 2007 at 17.02 (to Korean Air) which say “This article sounded in many places like an airline promotional brochure, so extensive editing needed (more to come)”?

Hello - I have a question about a word used on the article KJAK. There is a sentence which starts out: "The station had desensing problems". I am not sure of the meaning intended with the use of the word "desensing"; I can't find it in any printed or online dictionaries. Maybe you can clear this up? If you'd like to reply here, I'll be watching for your response, or ping me. [[User:Rudy2alan]] ([[User talk:Rudy2alan|talk]])

Hello Arpingstone, I just wanted to let you know that I am going to use your picture of a donkey in order to make the test in a translation-course more pleasant for my students at Uppsala University. I teach translation (Swedish-German) and I am a Phd of German literature, but I know a little English, too. I usually contribute to the German Wikipedia, sometimes to the Swedish one, too, and my user name in Germany is Elchjagd (which means: Moosechase). The test is all about donkeys in Venezuela where they carry around computers to enable the people living in the mountains to use the Internet. Thank you for the beautiful picture, by the way, I love donkeys. == Hello, this is Wastrel Way ==

Greetings from across the Atlantic! I see that you wrote the article on Tillandsia, and I thank you. I think this genus of plants is of interest to many people and there is much more to be said. I have done a bit of editing to the article and failed to upload a picture of one of my plants in bloom for a reason that I don't understand. I think there is much more to be done instead of repeating that "some of these plants live in the forest, some live in the desert, some are green and some are grey, some have thick leaves and the leaves of others are thinner" which is almost the way this article reads :-), and without sources. Some of it seems to be badly translated from German, and tried to fix that. If there is a general work on this genus of plants in English that I could obtain by inter-library loan I would like to know about it, if you know of it. Briefly, my background is in biology, zoology, then law and then computers and computer networks. I wrote the article [[Shoal Creek, Austin, Texas]] a year or two ago, and I am working on some others now, but I grow these plants and would welcome any suggestions you have for contributions that I might make. :: Hi from Adrian! Nice to hear from you. Yes, I have been quiet for some years now. I mainly worked on inserting aircraft pictures and on editing grammatical errors (my greatest hate is use of the word “current”). However, most aircraft articles are now fully illustrated so I found I could use very few of my aircraft pics, and I have no interest in just adding them into the huge collection on Commons. I grew tired of editing grammatical errors, so have stopped all contributions but could come back one day. Hi Adrian, it's been awhile since we've spoken, so I hope all is well with you. Do you happen to have a wider view of the aircraft in [[:File:Wing.slat.600pix.jpg]]? Some users are taking the "300" on the fuselage to mean it's an A300, while your file info clearly states that it's an "A310-300". ==Early 747s==
Adrian, I'm having a hard time finding a good pic of an early 747-100 or 200 with the short upper deck, or even a -300. I feel strongly that we should use an pic of an older 747, as we have a dedicated article for the 747-400. There has been a battle in the past few weeks on which pics should go in to the lead, and all but one are -400s. Do you have any great-quality pics of older 747s, preferrably airborne, that might work? Most of the ones on Commons aren't the best pics. I'd like something in main-line livery if you haf one, as the 747-100 cargo line I've tried to put in keeps being removed. Thanks, and you don't have to hurry on this one at all - there are lots of -400 pics for them to keep swapping them out for the next few months, and not reuse any! - [[User:BillCJ|BillCJ]] ([[User talk:BillCJ|talk]]) 03:34, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

:Hi! I started aircraft photography as a hobby in 2002 but most of my early pics which might have been a -200 are too trashy so have been deleted. So I’ve only one -200 pic. and thats [[MK Airlines]] (the middle picture) on the ground at Filton (where I worked for 36 years). Sadly the quality is poor (and it's facing the wrong way!) but you are obviously welcome to use it. That pic has a sad resonance for me because it crashed in Canada 4 days after I took that photo, with the loss of all 7 crew. All my other 747 pics (from 14 airlines) are -400. ==Picture sizing policy==
Hi Adrian, I hope this finds you well! I just noticed you resized a picture on [[Cleopatra's Needle]], an article on which I keep a watch on, removing the px sizing with an edit summary saying there is a Wikipedia policy on this. On checking [[WP:PIC]] I note there is no reference to such a policy - in fact there is a whole section on resizing images, using the px setting. Can you direct me to where such a policy is noted? Thank You - Rgds, - [[User:Trident13|Trident13]] ([[User talk:Trident13|talk]]) 13:51, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

:Hi! (it’s Adrian actually but I’ve a son called John!) I regret not using a clearer edit message when removing px values. My message used to be ''"Thumbnail sizes removed to comply with [[WP:MOS#Images]] - allows users to set their own image size via User Preferences"''. But it got deleted off a file where I keep such messages so I‘ve just been typing ''“Px values removed as per WP policy“'' which is not so clear. So I’ll use the first message in future. As someone who works mainly on pictures I can assure you that my action on removing px values is correct. The idea is that for a person like me who has a 1600 pixel wide monitor, the 200 or 250 px values, or even 150px, typed into the pic code produces pics which are far too small on my screen. So in MY prefs I have set the maximum px value available (which is 300) and that produces the best thumbnail look for me. A person with a smaller screen might want 200 px and so on.

:The page that you mention is a Tutorial and not a Policy statement and isn’t altered very often. So it's not stating policy.
:I hope all is clear, Best Wishes - [[User:Arpingstone|Adrian Pingstone]] ([[User talk:Arpingstone#top|talk]]) 16:21, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

::Adrian - firstly, my apologies for my mistake on your name. The reason I used the tutorial page is that, much as though its not policy, its the information we point new editors at, and that inexperienced editors use as the first port of call when in doubt editing. Hence, if the tutorial says "hey, here's how to adjust your picture" and policy says "remove px settings" then you will forever have a job removing px settings to comply with policy! If tutorial and written instruction doesn't align with policy, its kinda - daft. How do you suggest this break between policy versus information is resolved? Rgds, - [[User:Trident13|Ian]] ([[User talk:Trident13|talk]]) 19:29, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

:::Hi Ian! Happily I don't think px removals are causing any problem because I've removed the values from several hundred articles in the last few months and yours is the first comment on what my "authority" is. So I'm not being flooded with complaints on the removals. (Of course my Edit Message used to give the Manual of Style link that I mention above, so that may have satisfied other editors). Please don't think I'm the only person doing the removals, I frequently find articles with no px values so WP is definitely changing over.

:::Perhaps the tutorial should point to the policy document [[WP:MOS#Images]] as the authority and state that adding of px values can still be needed in the special cases that Policy describes, hence the need to detail how to add px values (even though they are disappearing!!) Best Wishes [[User:Arpingstone|Adrian Pingstone]] ([[User talk:Arpingstone#top|talk]]) 21:38, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

::::Adrian - thanks! My interest is more focused with my activites here in mind than the pro's/con's of the specific article. Mainly I create articles and point newbie's in the right (???) direction. Pointing them in direction of a tutorial which is in disagreement with policy is - as I said, daft! Newbie's generally come here because they find an article/lack of, or a section of interest in which they start editing/adding to. Many have photo's which they innocently add, and they get quite sensitive about others editing anything on stuff they have added. If the tutorial is saying one thing at present, and policy says another - and they end up in conflict with another because of whet they have read says one thing - then we lose another contributor. As I said, I think we should find a way of aligning all elements so that digging down deeper (ie - from tutorial to policy) just adds to the detail, and doesn't conflict: which the tutorial does with the policy to which you refer. Best Regards, - [[User:Trident13|Ian]] ([[User talk:Trident13#top|talk]]) 22:05, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

:::::All understood. As a very experienced editor (I started in January 2003) I hadn't thought about the problems that Newbies have in knowing what the pic code should be! == Edit to FIL European Luge Championships ==

Question: On you recent edit for the [[FIL European Luge Championships]] and the removal of "please", why? :Thanks for your comment. You have misunderstood me, I was following WP (probably unwritten) policy which, from my editing experience since early 2003, is that we do not say "please" in this context. I don't know why that is so but reading and editing thousands of articles tells me it is so. It has nothing to do with civility, emotion or politeness, I was merely making it conform with the phrasing used elsewhere which is "see such-and-such". == Sorry :) [[Turkish Air Force]]==
I think, in the end, you were right. There were many redundancies and unnecessary wording which could be removed, and the images appear differently on everyone's computer screen. I've been reverting many inaccurate inventory numbers recently, that's why I apologize if I reacted negatively at first. The two Boeing 737 AEW&C MESA images are extremely rare by the way (you won't see them anywhere else on the internet) because I obtained them from my friends who are insiders in the Peace Eagle project. Best regards and keep up the good work. :) [[Special:Contributions/151.57.200.87|151.57.200.87]] ([[User talk:151.57.200.87|talk]]) 11:11, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

:It was thoughtful of you to write to me here, so thanks. Yes, you are right about the words that are put into articles but when removed in no way alter the sense of the sentence - good examples are "many","various","current" and "famous" which, when, removed, rarely affect the meaning of the sentence. The worst case I've met was the Los Angeles article which had 17 pointless "currently" in it (but not any more!).

:Although the pics you mention were excellent quality, I don’t think WP should have two almost the same no matter how special they are to you or the photographer (the reader is unlikely to care). But that’s only my opinion and not a rule.

:The opening sentences were not encyclopedic by which I mean they read as though an extracted from an Air Force brochure. Only editing experience will show you what is enyclopedic and what is not (I've sixteen thousand edits since early 2003).

:The picture pixel-width removal is not my idea, it’s WP policy. I have a 1600 pixel widescreen monitor so the 220 pixels the pics were set at is far too small for me. So WP lets the reader set his/her pic size in Preferences, at any value up to 300. If Prefs is not set (and px values have been removed from the article) then the reader sees 180 pixel wide pics (hopelessly small for my screen). Articles are steadily losing their px values as editors get to know of the policy. :As per [[WP:NOT#REPOSITORY]] I have been moving galleries to Wikimedia Commons. I do understand why would would want a few picutes left on a certain page, this one included. Though many people may like the galleries on the bottom of pages, there are many who do not like the galleries. Just because there are alot of galleries does not make them a reason to keep all of them. Hi, I'm writing you in reference to [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=CH-47_Chinook&diff=192035634&oldid=191963239| this edit]. == [[Panavia Tornado]] ==

Thank you for the corrections. I thought "he uses" was ok - after all, who else ever does, unless it's she (?), but agree the passive "is used" is more authoritative. I must learn to be bolder in my edits! Congratulations though, on one of the most welcoming user pages I have seen - the commercial freedoms of retirement obviously have their advantages. As you may see, my main interest is the military fast jet cockpit, and I was wondering how close an aeronautics engineer might have been able to get to one (or more) of those, particularly if he had a camera.... Non copy-vio cockpit photos are generally hard to come by and I wondered if you could help/ advise at all? Many thanks. == Closeup Photo is NOT A HARRIS' HAWK!!! ==

I noted in my comment with the removal of the photo that the picture is of a falcon, not a Harris' hawk. I would think that erroneously displaying a picture of some other species and calling it a Harris' hawk is a perfectly good reason to remove it. Heck, the picture could be of a daffodil; would it then be obvious that it needed to be removed?

::Thank you for your rudeness. Thank goodness I rarely meet such an unpleasant response. I simply misunderstood the meaning of your Edit Comment which was .....''Rm falcon picture labeled as HH, add "juvenile" to picture description''. In my ignorance I did not realise what you were telling me in that Edit Comment because to me falcons and hawks were not different birds (so I saw no special meaning in your use of the word "falcon"). Therefore I assumed the picture had to be removed because you thought the article did not need it. It would have been far clearer to say in the Edit Comment ''This is not a Harris Hawk, this a (whatever)'' then I would have understood the reason for removal, you would not have needed to write to me in such a nasty way and I could have used the pic on the appropriate article. - [[User:Arpingstone|Adrian Pingstone]] ([[User talk:Arpingstone#top|talk]]) 09:50, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

:Hi! Nice to hear from you. I've only discovered the "upright" tag a few weeks ago. Without it the "no px sizes" rule is impossible to fully implement because portrait pics can look overwhelmingly large. With it, they look sensible in relation to landscape format pics.

:I've not had luck on FPC because other people have put forward rubbishy pics of mine with didn't have a hope. I even once found myself in the strange position of voting ''against'' one of my own pics!!. Only a few of my pics are good enough (mainly aircraft) but I've never bothered to nominate anything. == [[Tawny Frogmouth]] photos ==

Thank you for your rudeness about my Tawny Frogmouth photos. Your comments about my photos have been very hurtful and make me wonder whether it is worthwhile continuing to be a contributor to Wikipedia.

For your informaiton, I was about to check the photos you have been so scornful about, and try to make an objective decision about them, myself, and then to delete (from the page) those photos which I consider to be poor quality photos - but discovered that you had been busy and had already deleted them (again) before I had the chance to do this.

I do not delete other people's photos - nor do I make hurtful comments about them. [[User:Figaro|Figaro]] ([[User talk:Figaro|talk]]) 09:14, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

:I am sorry if you thought my comments were scornful, I did not intend that in any way. The problem with edit comments is that they have to be short and can take on a harshness not intended. I should have written to you on your Talk Page to explain at greater length.

:I expect you know that removals do happen on WP in the quest for a first class encyclopedia so when I saw the pics, and as an editor since January 2003, I had to act. ::Thank you for your reply. I have actually returned one of the photos (which I have re-uploaded to Wikipedia in a reduced size of 50% for a clearer photo), because I feel that there is value in the photo in an encyclopedia article, in the sense that the photo illustrates Tawny Frogmouth natural behaviour when alarmed, including the Tawny Frogmouth closing its eyes, to make itself appear to be only a branch of a tree, or a broken piece of wood, etc. The reason why the photos appeared to be out of focus is actually because the bird has extremely soft feathers. :Thanks for your interesting question. No, I'm sorry but you are not allowed to link to your User Page in that manner, even though I see it has lots of firefighting pictures on it. == [[Herb Abramson]] ==
There is one complication concerning your edit of the [[Herb Abramson]] article. It's that his then wife Miriam was also named Abramson until she remarried after divorcing Herb and became Miriam Bienstock. [[User:Steelbeard1|Steelbeard1]] ([[User talk:Steelbeard1|talk]]) 22:57, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

:Hi! Since the article is about Herb Abramson I reasoned that the reader will easily regard all unqualified "Abramsons" as referring to the article subject. Of course, Pooley's is not unique in being a small business which I presume is why you deleted that sentence. Hi! Here are my comments on your reversion of my edits of [[Aerial landscape art]]. There is a good reason for every edit (I’m highly experienced with 16000 edits since 2002)
* We do not include px values any more so I was completely correct to remove the 300px from the picture code (because what is an OK pic size for my 1600px wide LCD might be too dominating on a lores Laptop) and more importantly ''it’s WP policy'' - see [[WP:IUP]]
* My phrase '''The earliest aerial landscape art is maps……''' is surely clearer to the reader than your phrase '''Before the 20th Century the obvious precedents for aerial landscape are maps……..''' and '''obvious''' is just padding.
*'''at a great height''' is not needed. Balloons do not fly at a great height and removal of that phrase does not change the sentence meaning in any way.
*'''the painting pictured above is one such example''' is very unwise in WP because pictures are moved around all the time so in-text references to pictures is foolish. I always remove any such references.
*In the phrase '''many other famous or notable modern and contemporary artists have produced work inspired by aerial views''' I removed '''famous and notable''', again it’s just padding.
* '''They are generally, strictly speaking, not [[landscape]]s at all, since they don't show any land.''' I removed '''generally, strictly speaking'''. My mistake, I should have only removed '''generally''' but not that’s not a reason for full reversion.
*'''of course''' has no meaning. The reader will not know why '''of course''' is there.
* '''Below is an external link to an image of one of these: "It Was Blue and Green", [[1960]].''' Again, don‘t mention Ext Links in the body of the text. Ext links are often removed or modified and to remove or alter the text mention will probably be forgotten.
*'''If you are in the USA follow their instructions, using your zip code to find a copy of the book in a library near you'''. '''You''' is not allowed in an encyclopedia, simple as that. My alterations to remove '''you''' were clumsy but you could have done your own improvements.

(I’ve left out commenting on a few other edits because this taking me too long to type.)

I don’t remember total reversion of my edits in all the 6 years I’ve been editing so I wanted to show why total reversion was wrong. I had improved the article, your reversions have not. #Is his work going on or is it over?
#May I set this<nowiki>[[Image:Hunter.g-psst.arp.jpg]]</nowiki> and the caption into the ''[[Exeter International Airport]]'' article?
#Do you think I was overenthusiastic about this craft, or may I reinstate the caption I wrote, which was [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Kemble_Airport&diff=prev&oldid=213198895 partly deleted]?<br>

::Hi! I can’t find if PSST is still at Exeter but http://www.btinternet.com/~C.C.Evans/html/x-air_news.htm says:<br>
::''“Exeter, 25th January 2005: new arrivals with the Hunter Flying Club are Vampire T.11 XE985 and an Omani Hunter T.66B serialed 801. Also resident for a while have been Hunter T.7 G-VETA '''and the well known Hunter F.58A G-PSST “Miss Demeanour”'''. The nose of Hunter T.8C XF358 has been sold to Canada where it will adorn a T.7. the rest of the aircraft is to be used as a spares source in the restoration of T.7 XL612”.''<br>

::So it went there late 2004 or early 2005. I can'd find the name of the current owner.

::On http://www.deltajets.com/aircraft.php?jet=past it says<br>
::''“Undoubtedly most famous of the Hunters operated here at Kemble was Hunter F.58 G-PSST 'Miss Demeanour', owned by Jonathan Whaley. Built in 1956 it started life with 3 Squadron, RAF Germany, before moving on to 229 OCU and then retired to instructional use as a ground duties airframe with the FAA. In 1971 Hawkers purchased the airframe back and converted it to F.58A status and delivered to the Swiss Air Force in 1972, for target tug use. Retired for the second time in 1996, she was acquired by Jon and ferried to the UK in 1997. After restoration and repaint at Bournemouth, Jon operated her on the airshow circuit and based her here with Delta Jets at Kemble '''until he moved base in late 2004'''.”''

::You are free to put that pic onto Exeter Airport. If it’s not still at Exeter then someone will remove it so there will be no harm. I think your caption was “over the top” so I suggest my modified caption would be better. :::Many thanks for the time you took to give me these informations. I'll try to get to Exeter one day and find out more. But I don't when…
:::I put ''Miss Demeanour'' with the corrected caption onto the [[Exeter International Airport|EGTE]] page — we'll see then what happens. Cheers! [[User:Kanġi Oĥanko|✓ Kanġi Oĥanko]] ([[User talk:Kanġi Oĥanko|talk]]) 14:58, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

==Image placement==
Hi Arpingstone. I appreciate your concern with the wikipedia guidelines for positioning images. However, there are no specific guidelines for how to place images when there is a right justified navigation panel, such as the one which bothers you on the [[angling]] page. These panels are well established on over 800 fishing articles. The panel itself is about 100px wide. Some users set their thumbs to 300px, which is why the left justified image is constrained to 200px. Generally this works well, regardless of what browser size is used. The rest of the article images, are usually thumbs in the style you approve.

I don't understand why you also right justified the image, which has the effect of tucking it out of immediate sight below the navigation panel. Perhaps you use a very wide browser, and the TOC was displaying alongside the image.

This drawback occurs when the lede doesn't have enough text to flow past the left displayed image before the TOC displays. What happens then is that the TOC is aligned against the image rather than left justified below the image. Specifically setting left justify for the TOCdoesn't work here. I intend to see if I can get the TOC coding adjusted so it will do this. Regards --[[User:Geronimo20|Geronimo20]] ([[User talk:Geronimo20|talk]]) 03:46, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

:Thanks for your comments. I have uploaded 2 grabs off my Viewsonic 1680px by 1050px monitor, ''after'' my 200px removal. I had to do the grab in 2 sections. It looks OK to me or are you troubled by the whitespace between the TOC and the Infobox? Just a point - WP policy says that lead (am I spelling lead wrong?) pics should not go on the left which is why it's on the right. == Concordes versus [[Concorde]] ==

I suspect that there just isn't consistency here. Even on the BA site they seem to use both, and talk about "More than 2.5 million passengers have flown supersonically on British Airways' Concorde since she entered commercial service in 1976." where it's clear they mean all of them. I guess on balance the bias is towards allowing ''Concordes'' so we'll do it your way, but to be honest, the article would be more consistent my way, but nobody ever convincingly can argue that the world is totally consistent. I don't think that either is wrong though.- ([[User:Wolfkeeper|User]]) '''WolfKeeper''' ([[User_talk:Wolfkeeper|Talk]]) 20:09, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

:Hi! Sorry, but I still disagree. Yes, in some circumstances (such as your example above) "Concorde" sounds OK, but I give below just a small number of examples from the article where using the singular would sound strange. So I don’t agree its “at choice” because sometimes missing off the S sounds wrong (IMHO).<br>
:''The key partners, BAC (later to become [[BAE Systems]]) and Aerospatiale (later to become [[EADS]]), were the joint owners of Concorde's [[type certificate]].......''<br>
:''Concorde's famous drooping nose was a compromise between.....''<br>
:''The two prototype Concordes had two fixed "glass holes" on their retractable visors.''<br>
:''Interestingly, the vortex lift created by Concorde's wing just prior to touchdown supplied its own mild turbulence.''<br>
:''From this perspective, Concorde's technical leap forward can be viewed as boosting.....'' <br>

==Image size==
I have reverted your edit of [[flint tool]] because the new images are quite misleading for the size of objects depicted: any objections? [[User:Peterlewis|Peterlewis]] ([[User talk:Peterlewis|talk]]) 20:39, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

:Are you aware that you are going against documented Wikipedia policy (i.e px values are no longer used)? The top two thumbs on the article (that are set to 75 and 150px wide) look far too small on my 1600px wide screen, which is why Users can set their own size in Prefs (I have set 300px in my Prefs). So the answer to your question is: go ahead and leave it with px values if you wish and I’ll not revert you because I like a quiet life, but be aware that someone will, one day, remove them again.

:More explanation: the default thumb size value is 180px IF there is no px value given in the pic code and IF the User has not gone into Prefs to set their own value. So while I realise that casual users will usually see rather small thumbs (180px), there is no other choice than to remove px values because, while 100px might produce a good sized thumb on a lores screen, it's annoyingly small on my hires screen. So you can see that if the editor choose px values that they personally like (as in this article) then those sizes could be very wrong for someone else. The solution that Wikipedia has decided on is no px values (and a value agreeable to that User (300px in my case) can be set in Prefs). For a portrait format picture an additional tag called "upright" can be added to reduce the too-large look to such a pic. - Best Wishes -[[User:Arpingstone|Adrian Pingstone]] ([[User talk:Arpingstone#top|talk]]) 08:55, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

::: Are Wikipedia "rules" set in concrete? It seems to me that we should know what proportion of users have lores or hires screens (how are they defined?). Should the eyesight of users be considered? There is also the consideration of actual object size if several different objects are found on the same webpage. And I have also just reverted a good faith edit which tells me that I cannot use an image on the left of a page becasue Wiki policy dictates that all starting images must go on the right. This is absurd from a design viewpoint and smacks of Stalinism. [[User:Peterlewis|Peterlewis]] ([[User talk:Peterlewis|talk]]) 09:16, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

::::Peter, your emotional response saddens me because I spent a long time composing my response to you and yet your reply suggests you understood nothing of my explanations. Yes, sorry, but this rule IS set in concrete. Px values ARE being removed all over Wikipedia and you cannot be a Canute and stem that tide. Yes, some policies are loose and can be ignored but this not one of them.<br>

::::In reply to some specific comments:<br>
::::'''It seems to me that we should know what proportion of users have lores or hires screens (how are they defined?''' has no meaning. How can we ever know what screen John Doe in Little Rock, Arkansas has!!!! There has to be a mechanism by which a User can set his preferred picture size or else we are forcing a picture size on him.<br>
::::'''smacks of Stalinism''' is simply ridiculous. Stalin killed millions. I don’t think px reversion is quite in the same category, do you? All structures have organisation and this px business is just part of the Wikipedia structure and has been so for more than a year.<br>
::::'''Should the eyesight of users be considered?''' Exactly my point. The User has the ability to set a preferred image size in Prefs. You have not considered ''my'' eyesight by forcing such a tiny image on me in the article.<br>
::::Finally, your comment about lead image on the left or right has nothing whatever to do with this discussion. Best wishes - [[User:Arpingstone|Adrian Pingstone]] ([[User talk:Arpingstone#top|talk]]) 10:05, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

::::::I am surprised by ''your'' emotional comment about Stalinism, which I used in the sense of state bureaucracy stamping out individual freedom, and has nothing to do with genocide. Such rules as px reversion seem to me as absurd and an unnecessary imposition by "state" decree without consultation. When were contributors informed for example? Your reply mentioned no rational arguments in favour of this change, even when I asked or prompted queries about computer screens and the human interface. [[User:Peterlewis|Peterlewis]] ([[User talk:Peterlewis|talk]]) 17:48, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

:::::::(I made a mistake with my Stalin comment so I'm sorry about that.) Sorry, but it is too late for consultation on px removal because the Wikipedia decision to remove px values was made long ago and is no longer an item for discussion. You could attempt to revive the discussion but I have no idea how the decision was made nor where you would start the discussion. Sadly for you, I believe that the removal of px value, in favour of a User decision in Prefs, can no longer be changed.

:::::::Contributors are informed in [[WP:IUP]] under Rules of Thumb Part 9. and Displayed Image Size.

:::::::As for me not producing arguments about "computer screens and the human interface" how could you say that when I wrote at length, above, about screen resolution producing different size images for different users i.e. if px values are used, what is a tiny image on my 1600px screen could be overwhelming on an 800px screen on a laptop. There's no point in my going over these explanations over and over so this is my final entry on this topic - [[User:Arpingstone|Adrian Pingstone]] ([[User talk:Arpingstone#top|talk]]) 20:51, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

== Image deletion ==

Hi, you queried an image that was up for deletion earlier. To answer your question, there is nothing wrong with the image. It's on the Commons, and images on the Commons are usually redlinked because the file doesn't exist on Wikipedia. Sometimes people add categories to the redlinked images, which is unnecessary because the Commons has its own categorisation, and therefore the Wikipedia image is an "empty" image. See [[WP:CSD#I2]] and [[WP:CSD#I8]]. Hope that helps! Best, [[User:PeterSymonds|PeterSymonds]] [[User talk:PeterSymonds|<small>(talk)</small>]] 13:20, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

:Hi! I'm still not sure I understand. Is the Deletion message saying that the Wikipedia image will be deleted (which is no bother to me because the Commons image remains)? Presumably then I can ignore such messages in the future? Thanks for writing - [[User:Arpingstone|Adrian Pingstone]] ([[User talk:Arpingstone#top|talk]]) 15:36, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

::Yep that's right. The Commons and Wikipedia are two separate entities, but a Commons picture will appear in all Wikimedia projects because it's the central depository. The image page was created here, but it was blank because the file and all the details are on the Commons. So if you took the Commons image away (e.g. if it was deleted there) then the image page here would be blank. Hope this helps! [[Image:Virginatl.over.heathrow.750pix.jpg|thumb|right|150px]]
Hi, if my detective work is correct, then it was you who uploaded this image? Did you take it? The most important question I wanted to ask is ''is it real?'' It looks ''very'' close. Almost hitting the trees! [[user:kennedy|<font color="#800000">'''← κεηηε∂γ'''</font>]] ([[user_talk:kennedy|<font color="#800000">talk</font>]]) 08:51, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

:Hullo! Yes, the picture is absolutely real and you are correct that I took it. The closeness to the trees is an illusion. On a map I've measured the distance from the fuselage of the aircraft to the trees. The horizontal distance comes out as 600 feet (180 metres). So, with a wingspan of say 200 feet, the wing tip is actually 500 feet, measured horizontally, beyond the trees.
:The second part of the illusion is that I'm looking a little upwards, so the aircraft is not flying as ''low'' as the tops of the trees. So it couldn't have hit them even if it had, at that moment, been flying directly over them.

:Thanks for asking the question. Sorry to be so long in answering but I’ve been on holiday. Best Wishes - [[User:Arpingstone|Adrian Pingstone]] ([[User talk:Arpingstone#top|talk]]) 09:43, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

I hate it when people like you go around and remove's people changes. You have to bear in mind that this airport is in an inner city and noise disturbance is an issue for any airport based in the middle of a city. And it copes to land in the middle of an airport is an issue. I also have have other docs, which I need to create and how aircraft are categorised by noise etc.... If I am in the middle of an edit, I have to leave things tidy! :The article is [[London City Airport]] so an external link dealing solely with aircraft noise '''that does not mention the article title''' does not go there. It would be a brilliant link for [[Aircraft noise]] but not on a specific airport article. Of course, if the data ''mentioned'' London City or was ''for'' London City then the link would be very relevant. So, sorry, I will not revert myself.

Hi Adrian

I am not familiar with 'behind the sceens' Wikipedia but I would like to use one of your images. It is the one of my son, Chris Pote, leaving RIAT at Fairford this year in his EurofoxLR G-GBNZ. It is already in the public domain, but I would prefer to be in contact with you and keep you informed of his progress. I am preparing a 'press release' for New Zealand and will send you a copy. My email is ********. Cheers Jonathan--122.56.234.66 (talk) 02:11, 14 September 2018 (UTC) 122.56.234.66 (talk) 02:11, 14 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Jonathon, thank you for writing, I have replied by email. By the way, I have removed your email (having taken a note of it) because to give it here is to invite email harvesting programs to send you lots of stuff you don't want! Best wishes - Arpingstone (talk) 11:51, 14 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Adrian...I am Sharad from India. Doing fact check story. Need your help. one of your photo is edited and circulating in social media with wrong information. you took a photo of bus in bath city. I want to know when was it taken.
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Tour_bus_in_bath_england_arp.jpg 223.233.78.185 (talk) 05:32, 10 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) Hello Sharad. Adrian doesn't seem to have edited here for a little while, so I hope neither you nor he will mind me stepping in, in the hope of helping. If you have a look at the photo's information at the link you gave, you will see that it says 28 July 2008 once in the summary and twice in the metadata. Whilst these cannot absolutely be guaranteed accurate (Adrian might be a mad deceiver and might be editing the metadata and simply fibbing in the summary, or his camera's clock setting might have been wrong) it is very, very likely that they are correct. The metadata is supplied automatically by the camera and is very likely to be right, and most cameras' clocks will tend to be right or rightish. The balance of probabilities is very much in favour of 28 July 2008 though clearly 100% certainty would be hard to attain.
For my curiosity and perhaps Adrian's when he sees this, do you mind telling us where the photo is circulating and why the wrong information is a problem? I'm having grave difficulty imagining how this would work! Cheers DBaK (talk) 09:14, 10 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Update: ah, I see ... stuff like this. Interesting. Oh and this one: Adrian, you must watch the video! Does this stuff happen to you all the time?? Cheers DBaK (talk) 09:19, 10 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hullo, I am Adrian Pingstone. I have gone back through my photos and checked the date of the bus pic. I definitely took it on 28th July 2008 in Bath (I live about 15 miles away and my wife likes shopping there). Thanks for your question. Big thanks to DBak for a great reply. Hello! I am working on the article Hypericum. The image of Image:Hypericum.flower.750pix.jpg has many questions surrounding it and I would like to get in touch with you about it rather than simply remove it from the article. If I cannot resolve that it really is Hypericum calycinum, I will have to remove it. Thank you, Fritzmann2002 19:05, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your kindness in writing to me. I put that picture on 13 years ago so have no memory of where I took it nor which hypericum it is (but know I took it near where I live in Bristol, England). Since the pic is now very old you are welcome to remove it - I have 2000 pictures on Wikipedia so I won't miss it! - Arpingstone (talk) 20:06, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for replying quickly. I am glad can remove the picture without any controversy. Happy Wiki-ing! Fritzmann2002 13:20, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Permission to use figure in a book.[edit]

Dear Adrian, I am working with Prof. Steven LaValle to help obtain permissions for borrowing figures or pictures in his upcoming book Virtual Reality, to be published by Cambridge University Press. The book is online here:

http://vr.cs.uiuc.edu/

We are hoping to include the picture of yours (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/60/Grey_square_optical_illusion.PNG) in this book (Chapter 6, Figure 6.23b). Could we please have your permission for this? Thank you.

Please contact me at (removed) Sincerely,

Unfortunately that incredible optical illusion is not mine, I found it an unknown place on the internet and (naughtily) used it without permission. So sorry I can't help and I have no idea who is the actual "owner" of the pic.
PS We answer questions like this below the question so that other people can know what the answer is. I have removed your email because to give it without disguise is inviting email harvesting prorams to find you. Best wishes - Arpingstone (talk) 18:23, 23 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Need consent to use your image[edit]

Hello,

I have written a post on Lynton & Lynmouth and about our visit to it on my blog. Soon I am going to publish a book using all these posts.

As you can see here - http://b-young-forever.blogspot.in/2017/04/lynton-lynmouth-devon-atozchallenge.html, I have used an image (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Lynmouth.railway.arp.750pix.jpg) from your contribution on my blog, I need your consent to use the same in the final book.

Look forward to getting your consent.

User:Rudy2alan (talk)

EC-400[edit]

Just to let you know that EC-400 has nothing to do with the Spanish Air Force, it is being used as a demonstrator by Airbus Military and is to be delivered to the Royal Air Force as ZM421 at some point. MilborneOne (talk) 15:11, 12 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for correcting my silly error. I stupidly thought the rear fuse logo was that of the Spanish Air Force! My only excuse is old age!! Thanks again - Arpingstone (talk)

Hello, this is Wastrel Way[edit]

I wrote the article Shoal Creek, Austin, Texas a year or two ago, and I am working on some others now, but I grow these plants and would welcome any suggestions you have for contributions that I might make. Wastrel Way (talk) Eric

Hello[edit]

Hi Adrian. We used to interact many many years ago here when I edited under a different name. I greatly value your contributions and I note you've been a bit quiet recently. Are you OK? I do hope so. With all good wishes DBaK (talk) 13:39, 1 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi from Adrian! I do have a session of adding pictures after each Fairford Air Show so I will always add something each year. Thanks for writing, Best wishes, Arpingstone (talk) 09:00, 19 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry I never replied to this – when I read it I was in India and had plenty of other things on my mind, and then a school trip to Wales and then some wretched pandemic intervened. Sorry, and thanks for the lovely reply, and it is nice to see you around however full-time or occasional it is. With all good wishes, DBaK (talk) 11:14, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A brownie for you![edit]

Thank you for your pictures of South west England! I've studied in Torquay as a high school an international student last year, your pictures brought so much memory for me, especially the Torbay town hall, I used to walk through there every school day. It was a really important year for me, and ones again, thanks for your images! BjLRC (talk) 19:02, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the Brownie (my favourite cake, how did you know!). Your lovely comment is much appreciated. Thanks Arpingstone (talk)

Should I say HB2U?[edit]

Dear Adrian, I have just seen your userpage edit and am wondering if urgent congrats are called for? If so please consider it done, and a certain song sung or played at you too. And I hope you are having an excellent day whether this particular one has an extra numerical significance or not! Cheers DBaK (talk) 11:12, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

File:Wing.slat.600pix.jpg[edit]

Hi Adrian, it's been awhile since we've spoken, so I hope all is well with you. Do you happen to have a wider view of the aircraft in File:Wing.slat.600pix.jpg? Some users are taking the "300" on the fuselage to mean it's an A300, while your file info clearly states that it's an "A310-300". A larger view might help settle the argumemt, and we could recrop it to show the full designation. Thanks. BilCat (talk) 01:35, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi from Adrian, nice to hear from you. I'm in good health and reached 80 years old in July (but no celebrations due to Mr (or Mrs) Virus). Nowadays I do very little on WP because the aircraft pages are mostly fully illustrated so I can use decreasingly few of my pictures. I do a little editing for grammar and style.
In answer to your question, unfortunately I have no copy of that picture and no information on it. I tried looking for that window gap on pictures of prototypes and flight test aircraft, but no luck.
Sorry I can’t help. I would have no objection to removal of the pic if the aircraft type remains uncertain. Best wishes, Arpingstone (talk) 18:29, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Over 2 years later the question has come up again. But I also found this photo of an A310-300 in the same livery, probably the same aircraft. It has the same window gap after the -300. I hope all is still well with you.

Larger macaw picture?[edit]

Hello! Would you happen to have a higher resolution / wider crop of commons:File:Parrot.red.macaw.1.arp.750pix.jpg? It would make for a nice desktop background. I know the photo is 16+ years old now, so it's probably a long shot. codl (talk) 19:18, 14 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

What a shame! In those far-off days I was stupid enough not to keep the larger resolution pic when I reduced them in size for WP. I don't remember why I used 750 pixels as my standard upload size. Nowadays of course I wouldn't do that! Thanks for writing, Best wishes Arpingstone (talk) 08:02, 16 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

An edit from 2012[edit]

Hi Arpingstone - I/m confused by this edit of yours from 2012, where you seem to be overwriting an article about St. Anthony's School, Ranchi, Jharkand, by an article about Sacred Heart Convent School (Jamshedpur) - a different school in a totally different city.
I don't expect you to remember it, but can you throw any light on this? as the page history has not helped me - thanks - Arjayay (talk) 12:52, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for writing. Unfortunately I am completely baffled by what has happened! It's really weird!! I would never vandalise Wikipedia and am highly experienced in editing but I can't work out what happened. So, sorry, but I can't help. Best wishes Arpingstone (talk) 08:01, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Using Picture of Kelvin Wake for the textbook Gerthsen Physik (in german language)[edit]

Dear Mr. Pingstone,

I would like to use your picture (Kelvin wakes on Avon) for an example discussion of water waves in the german language textbook Gerthsen Physik. I am the editor of the book.

I understand that we could simply go ahead according to the licences announced on Wikipedia. Nevertheless I would prefer to have your personal consent.

I was trying to find an email with no success. If you send me a note at "meschede AT uni-bonn DOT (followed by a D and an E)" I could send you the section of the manuscript.
