Coming up with a template for Indian Naval Ships

Hey, I started editing Indian Naval ships recently and noticed that there does not seem to be a set template with respect to the structure of the page. I decided to send you and mention Nicky mathew in this message since the two of you seem to be active on this front for the past few months. Some sections seem to be duplicated while there are multiple sections for the same information. I was contemplating of coming on a consensus with some active editors on what a sample page should look like. For example, Design is a section which can be omitted out of specific ship pages and only be present in the class section(when there are multiple ships of the same class) to avoid duplication of information. Similarly, each ship will have a History Section which can include the launch and commissioning information in addition to the dates(for example who commissioned it and where). We can have a Deployment/Active Service Section which can mention what the ship has done so far in active service, if it has participated in some operations/relief efforts. What do you think about this? Is it possible to talk to other users on this topic and do you know of anyone else who might be interested in this effort? Thanks for your time. -- Adamgerber80

Hi Adamgerber80! It sounds like what you are talking about is similar to the guidelines at Wikiproject Ships for how to structure ship articles. Your suggestions are very similar to what is being discussed there (a section for launch and commission, a section for operational history etc). So yes, I think your suggestions are excellent. If you want to find other users interested in this topic, the talk page at Wikipedia:WikiProject Ships is a good place to start. Cheers. Antiochus the Great (talk) 16:12, 7 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
