Welcome, roadfan!

Hello, Peterjack1, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like this place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or click here to ask a question on your talk page.

If you are interested, there is already a community of users who are roadfans or who edit articles about roads, just like you! Stop by any of these WikiProjectsWP:HWY (worldwide), WP:AURD (Australia), WP:CARD (Canada), WP:HKRD (Hong Kong), WP:INRD (India), WP:UKRD (United Kingdom), or WP:USRD (United States)—and contribute. If your interest is in roads in the United States, there is an excellent new user's guide. There is a wealth of information and resources for creating a great article. If you have questions about any of these WikiProjects, you can ask on each project's talk page, or you can ask me!

If you like communicating through IRC, feel free to ask questions at #wikipedia-en-roads connect as well. Here, there are several editors who are willing to answer your questions. For more information, see WP:HWY/IRC.

Again, welcome! Rschen7754 18:05, 15 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for October 12

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Massachusetts Route 2, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages US 5 and Cold River (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:08, 12 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Minor edits

Hi! Make sure to not mark non-minor edits as minor, as you've marked many in your recent contributions. See WP:MINOR -- it's for edits that don't change content and tells other editors that no review is needed. —  HELLKNOWZ   ▎TALK 09:13, 25 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I'd like to second this. Minor edits are for superficial edits, generally typographical. Edits that are adding or modifying content should not be marked minor. Thanks for contributing edits! Just please follow conventions to help us all work together better. --Cyanophycean314 (talk) 06:08, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Browser on highway articles

You're adding browsers (the previous/next) to the bottoms of the infoboxes on national-level articles. We just don't do that. That's something that's only been done at the state level. US 8 is considered both a national- and state-level article because we won't split out separate state-level articles for it. That's why it has the browsers for the previous and next highways in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan. For US 7, no, we wouldn't point it back to US 6 and forward to US 8. We also wouldn't add browsers that point to unnumbered parkways in New York because there's no clear connection on why they're the preceding or succeeding entry in a larger list of numbered highways.

In short, I advise you to stop, and if you have a plan, discuss it somewhere first, like WT:USRD. Imzadi 1979  03:25, 29 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The browser is to link to the previous highway by numerical designation and to the next one by numerical designation. So that's why M-28 (Michigan highway) links back to M-27 and forward to M-29. It has nothing to do with the highways at the termini, and this is documented at WP:USRD/STDS. Imzadi 1979  04:24, 29 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Edits on Interstate 88 (New York)

Hi. You have been making a number of edits on the exit lists of the Interstate 88 (New York) page. Please note that as stated in WP:USRD/STDS, for a grade-separated interchange, the exit list should document only the official interchange information. This means that exits should be in concordance with how government agencies officially present them. This also concurs with WP:NOR, which states that you cannot add original research to Wikipedia. While I understand that you're trying to help by adding information that could be useful to some people, the various road-related projects have maintained these standards to provide consistency across thousands of articles. I encourage you to read through them. Thanks.Vmanjr (talk) 12:38, 16 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2018 election voter message

Hello, Peterjack1. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

ANSWER YOUR MESSAGES. GoodDay (talk) 03:45, 29 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, please, let's have some stability on this and other election pages. Changing the numbers back and forth day after day is bad for everybody. Let's get a consensus on the talk page, and then update the infobox accordingly. I notice you haven't chimed in with your thoughts on how we should define the various lines. I don't care how we define them, but the edit warring between several editors on this article needs to stop. Thank you. Levivich (talk) 22:33, 29 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have recently shown interest in post-1932 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect: any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or any page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Template:Z33

The best practice is to discuss your edits on the article's talk page if they are reverted, not to make the same change again. Jonathunder (talk) 16:55, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Palisades Center

Hi. Welcome to Wikipedia, and thanks for working to improve the site with your edits to Palisades Centers, as we really appreciate your participation. However, the edits had to be reverted, because Wikipedia cannot accept uncited material. Wikipedia requires that the material in its articles be accompanied by reliable, verifiable (usually secondary) sources explicitly cited in the article text in the form of an inline citation, which you can learn to make here. If you ever have any other questions about editing, or need help regarding the site's policies, just let me know by leaving a message for me in a new section at the bottom of my talk page. Thanks.
