Genius Inside is an international software firm, headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, that specializes in project management software.[1][2] Its featured product, Genius Project, assists companies in executing collaborative projects.[3][4] Christophe Borlat is the Managing Director of Sales and Marketing.[3]
History
Genius Inside was created in 1997 to provide project management solutions to the Lotus Notes community.[5][4] The company has a relationship with IBM from its infancy, and formed as a consulting group “spin-off.”[4][6] Initially, Genius Inside focused its efforts on establishing European partnerships and launching its German and American markets.[7][8]
Genius Inside’s evolution was marked by a movement “from developing and marketing a simple project management solution to a full suite of enterprise project and portfolio management applications.”[8] In 2003, the firm formally partnered with IBM, solidifying the firm’s footing in a marketplace “crowded” with project management software.[9]
Reception to Genius Project has been generally positive, with reviews lauding the software’s security, powerful social media capabilities, and improvements on traditional planning and workflow tools.[10] Additionally, the software was recognized as an attempt to “simplify the project environment by abolishing unnecessary bureaucracy and make processes leaner.”[11][12]
In April 2008, Genius Inside released the “on-demand,” or SaaS (Software as a Service).[10][4][9][13] Though several notable companies selected Genius Project as a PM solution, it received criticism for its lack of Android-friendly apps as competition among platforms increased.[3][10]
Genius Inside continually adapted its software with new interfaces and updates. It produced the newest version of Genius Project in 2012, 7.0, to include Genius Live.[3] In the spring of 2013, Borlat announced that a new app for iPhone and Android users would be released in June.[4] Current users of Genius Project include clients in a variety of sectors, including industry, health services, and IT.[14]
Product
Genius Project aims to increase efficacy of project teams and improve outcomes.[15][12][4][11] Genius Inside offers a number of options, including Genius Project Enterprise PPM, a “hosted on-premise software,” Genius Project On-Demand PPM, its SaaS alternative, and Genius Project for Domino, a product installed in IBM Lotus Notes.[16][8]
