In June 2022, a team of researchers published a paper claiming that data leaks existed in the pre-2011 version of the blockchain, allowing some transactions to potentially be traced back to their originators. The researchers claim to have identified that around 64 individuals mined the majority of Bitcoin that was created in 2009 and 2010.[1][2]
