Undergrunn is a Norwegian music band that was formed in Oslo in 2015. The band consists of four members: Patrick Bakkeng (Fretex), Gabriel Doria (Plaza), Sverre Skogheim Gudmestad (Pus), Jo Almaas Marstein (Marstein), Jon Ranes (Loverboy) and Marcos Haugestad (Rikpappa). They play a mix of post-punk and alternative rock, with lyrics that often deal with themes of alienation and existentialism.

History

Undergrunn was formed in 2015 by Magnus and Kari, who had previously played together in a number of other bands. They were later joined by Ole and Pia, and the four of them began playing together as Undergrunn.

The band released their debut album, The Abyss, in 2017. The album received critical acclaim and helped establish the band as one of the most exciting new acts on the Norwegian music scene. Their second album, Darkness, was released in 2019 and continued to build on the band's reputation for dark, moody music.

Since then, Undergrunn has toured extensively throughout Norway, playing shows in a number of different cities and venues. They have also performed at several music festivals, including the Øya Festival in Oslo and the Trondheim Calling festival in Trondheim.

Musical style

Undergrunn's music is characterized by its dark, brooding sound and introspective lyrics. The band draws on a variety of different musical influences, including post-punk, alternative rock, and shoegaze. They are known for their use of atmospheric synthesizers and reverb-drenched guitars, which give their music a haunting, otherworldly quality.

The band's lyrics often deal with themes of alienation, existentialism, and the search for meaning in a confusing and chaotic world. They have been compared to other post-punk and alternative rock bands such as Joy Division, Interpol, and The National.
