"The New Suit" is the fourth episode of Open All Hours second season.

Plot
Arkwright (Ronnie Barker) has to buy a new suit, otherwise Nurse Gladys Emmanuel (Lynda Baron)’s won't let him take her out ever again. Arkwright asks Bickerdyke (Emrys James) the tailor to call round, to be fitted for a new suit, although Arkwright is after something off the peg, a bit cheaper.

When Arkwright has his new suit, he struggles to use the zip fly, since he has always used buttons. Nurse Gladys finally takes him to a 'Healing by Hypnotism' meeting where Arkwright has problems with his zip fly. Arkwright leaves the meeting, bent in order to hide the zip fly, as Nurse Gladys is absolutely ridiculed.

Notes
Arkwright manages to get his fingers caught in the till.

Granville (David Jason)'s handwritten sign at the shop's window: "TODAYS " (Audience doesn't see any more)

Granville, angry as Arkwright has ordered him to sweep the pavement when it's raining, does a rendition of Gene Kelly's Singin' in the Rain.

Quotes
*Arkwright places a raw sausage on Granville piece of toast while he is deeply engrossed in a terror book, and not looking at his toast. Granville reaches for the toast and places his hand on the raw sausage. Granville throws the sausage in fright.
**Arkwright: Why are you t-throwing raw sausages about, Granville?
**Granville: Damn fool, I wondered what that was then.
**Arkwright: Well it was a sausage. Now it is a s-sausage with f-f-f-fluff on it.

*Arkwright and Bickerdyke (Tailor). Bickerdyke has measured Arkwright for a new suit, but forgot one measurement.
**Bickerdyke: Do you know your inside leg?
**Arkwright: As well as anybody.
**Bickerdyke: Do you know how long it is?
**Arkwright: Yes, it's just the right length. It exactly reaches the floor.

*Arkwright greeting Nurse Gladys for buying two loaves of bread, which she has in front of her chest.
**Arkwright: I say you've got a couple of nice s-squashy ones there, love. (and he squeezes the loaves).
