Using too many individual article message boxes can distract from the article and make it unpleasant to look at, as in [{{fullurl:Thin_Lizzy|oldid=199434003}} this example]. This template tags articles or sections for multiple maintenance issues and then displays the alerts in a single box, as an alternative to using several space-consuming boxes.
Using too many individual article message boxes can distract from the article and make it unpleasant to look at, as in [[Special:Permalink/199434003|this example]]. This template tags articles or sections for multiple maintenance issues and then displays the alerts in a single box, as an alternative to using several space-consuming boxes.

===Usage===
== Usage ==
Do not use this as the ''only'' message box on the article or section; it should be used with at least two other message boxes contained inside it.<br/>
*Don't insert all the code you see in the Full syntax listing below. Include only those parameters directly relevant to the issues of the particular article or section. Don't use this template without any parameters.
Search for the best templates to express your issues at [[Wikipedia:Template messages]] or [[Wikipedia:Template messages/Examples]].
*Use <code>|section=y</code> if placing the template in a particular section. <!-- ALL parameters appear to now support a date including 'COI'. Commented-out for now; seems out of date --> <!--
*Issue parameters that ''don't'' support a date (such as <code><nowiki>COI=</nowiki></code>) must be set to some value, but the value entered won't have any effect, so any arbitrary value will do. For example, <code>COI=y</code> has the same effect as <code>COI=Hello</code>, but <code>COI=</code> will result in the COI issue not displaying at all. Using a date here supports future enhancements. Indeed even the "article" and "section" parameter can be set to a date.
*Issue parameters that '''do''' support a date (see table below) can also be set to any value, however it is recommended that you set these to the current date for categorization purposes. -->
*Dates should be set using the "month year" format, i.e. <code>={{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTYEAR}}</code>.

The syntax for the template is:
===Common mistakes===
<syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext">{{Multiple issues|section=|
<!-- colorize 1st sentence after each colon instead? -->
{{Issue 1}}
* {{Font color|red|'''Redundant issues:'''}} Please do not insert tags that are too similar or redundant with each other. All articles that read like essays have an inappropriate tone, and in fact they end up in the same category, so it is unnecessary to set <code>tone</code> in addition to <code>essay</code>. <code>cleanup</code> is a very general issue and so should be replaced with a more specific one.
{{Issue 2}}
* {{Font color|red|'''Too many issues:'''}} Similarly, if an article has many problems, please consider listing only the most important. A lengthy list is often less helpful than a shorter one. Remember that this tag is not intended as a [[badge of shame]].
{{Issue 3}}
* {{Font color|red|'''One issue:'''}} Don't use this template for a single issue. Use the appropriate single-issue tag instead. See [[Wikipedia:Template messages/Cleanup]] for a list of available tags.

}}</syntaxhighlight>
where ''Issue 1'', ''Issue 2'', ''Issue 3'', etc. are article maintenance templates (see [[Wikipedia:Template messages/Cleanup]]), which take their usual parameters, and {{Tl|Ambox}} templates, which usually should not be used. Each of these templates should be placed on individual lines, but must not be separated from each other by [[pipe character|pipes]] or template parameters, because that would cause some or all of the banners to be hidden.

A {{para|section|yes{{!}}}} parameter can be used to modify the template to be used below a section header.
===Example===
<code><nowiki>{{</nowiki>Multiple issues |POV={{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTYEAR}} |copyedit={{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTYEAR}}<nowiki>}}</nowiki></code>

== Example for an article ==
Tags an article for copyediting and POV, as well as providing a date for each tagging item, producing the following:
<syntaxhighlight lang="wikitext">{{Multiple issues|

===Issues supported===
The table below lists the issues that are supported.

*Each parameter can be set to any value without harm. However, many categories sort articles by the month in which they were tagged. Therefore, please set the current month as the value, or the month when the article was originally tagged with that issue.
* The '''Issue''' column contains a brief synopsis. For more detailed information, follow the link to the '''standalone template'''.
* Sorting by the '''Topic''' column helps to find related tags; please use the tag that is '''most specific''' and reflects the severity of the issue best.
* The '''Severity''' column annotates how critical the issue is. It is suggested to concentrate on the most severe issues first and to avoid mixing very different severity levels.
**<span style="background-color:#FF5544">'''Critical''' issues compromise the '''integrity''' of the encyclopedia.</span> If these issues are severe and not obviously fixable, consider nominating the article for speedy deletion instead by placing a template from the [[:Category:Speedy deletion templates]]. Example issues include:
***''hoax, disputed'' - as per [[Template:Db-g3|G3]],
***''advert, spam'' - as per [[Template:Db-g11|G11]],
***''notability'' - as per [[Template:Db-a7|A7]]
**<span style="background-color:#FFBB55">'''Policy''' issues violate [[WP:FIVE|core policies]].</span> Consider [[WP:PROD|proposing the article for deletion]] or [[WP:AFD|nominating it for a deletion discussion]] instead of placing the tags if the article may not be fixable. Do not nominate fixable articles for deletion: [[WP:NOTCLEANUP|AfD is not cleanup]]. These issues include:
***''autobiography, POV, COI, likeresume, peacock'' - as per [[WP:NPOV]],
***''crystal, howto, travelguide, unencyclopedic'' - as per [[Wikipedia:NOT|WP:NOT]],
***''unreferenced, unreferencedBLP, citecheck, synthesis'' - as per [[Wikipedia:V|WP:V]] and [[WP:OR]]
**<span style="background-color:#FFFF77">'''Contents''' issues appear fixable and would not require deletion.</span> These are often the less serious siblings of the issues listed above; they include:
***''unbalanced, review, contradict, weasel, recentism''
**<span style="background-color:#CCDDFF">'''Style''' issues concern writing style, structure or formatting.</span> These need to be improved but the value of the article is not disputed in principle. They include:
***''confusing, story, inappropriate person, restructure'' ... (and many more)

====Adding new issues====
:''Note: after successfully adding a new issue, please [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Template:Multiple%20issues/doc&action=edit update] this documentation page, as well as [[Template:Multiple issues/doc/Fulltext]].''

To add a new issue use, use this example:

<pre style="overflow:auto;">
{{Multiple issues/message
| name = {{{unreferenced|}}}
| message = * It does not '''cite any sources'''. Please help by citing reliable sources.
| cat = All articles lacking sources
| cat-date = Articles lacking sources
}}
}}
</pre>

The article will be put in the category "cat" if is specified, '''and''' either the category "cat-date" with the date (the value passed in the name parameter) if it is a valid category or the category "cat-undate". For undated issues only use the "cat" parameter.

Using too many individual article message boxes can distract from the article and make it unpleasant to look at, as in this example. This template tags articles or sections for multiple maintenance issues and then displays the alerts in a single box, as an alternative to using several space-consuming boxes.

Usage[edit]

Do not use this as the only message box on the article or section; it should be used with at least two other message boxes contained inside it.
Search for the best templates to express your issues at Wikipedia:Template messages or Wikipedia:Template messages/Examples.

The syntax for the template is:

{{Multiple issues|section=|
{{Issue 1}}
{{Issue 2}}
{{Issue 3}}
...
}}

where Issue 1, Issue 2, Issue 3, etc. are article maintenance templates (see Wikipedia:Template messages/Cleanup), which take their usual parameters, and {{Ambox}} templates, which usually should not be used. Each of these templates should be placed on individual lines, but must not be separated from each other by pipes or template parameters, because that would cause some or all of the banners to be hidden.

A |section=yes| parameter can be used to modify the template to be used below a section header.

Example for an article[edit]

{{Multiple issues|
{{Orphan|date=January 2008}}
{{POV|date=June 2009}}
{{One source|date=March 2011}}
{{Notability|Corp|date=June 2012}}
{{Citations needed|template|date=September 2012}}
{{Lead too short|date=August 2013}}
}}

produces

Example for a section[edit]

{{Multiple issues|section=yes|
{{Unreferenced section|date=January 2012}}
{{Disputed-section|date=April 2012}}
{{Expand section|1=examples and additional citations|demospace=main|date=June 2012}}
{{Section too short|date=August 2012}}
}}

General notes[edit]

  • Redundant issues: Please do not insert tags that are too similar to or redundant with each other. All articles that read like essays have an inappropriate tone, and in fact they end up in the same category, so it is unnecessary to add {{tone}} in addition to {{essay-like}}. {{Cleanup}} is very vague and so should be replaced with a more specific template whenever possible.
  • Too many issues: Similarly, if an article has many problems, please consider listing only the most important. A lengthy list is often less helpful than a shorter one. Remember that this tag is not intended as a badge of shame.
  • Only one issue: Don't use this template for a single issue; just use the stand-alone template. See Wikipedia:Template messages/Cleanup for a list of available tags.
  • Custom text: If no article maintenance template describes a problem, an {{Ambox}} lets you write custom text. Don't use it to add more than an article maintenance template says, since what is said should be concise and article maintenance templates usually are. In your custom text, link to a relevant policy or guideline so other editors understand why adherence to your Ambox is important. While an article maintenance template generally causes categorization that invites editing, an Ambox template does not, so, if at all feasible, use an article maintenance template instead.
