Already done Thanks for your concern. We have added Vedalam into the list. Actually this movie has made 100Crores mark worldwide just in 8 days which is new record for any Tamil movie. AK Mathan (talk) 17:41, 25 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Scope

We need to establish the scope of "highest-grossing", that is, the specific cut-off for inclusion. Are we going by the top 10 in each language? We have 1 Bengali, 10 Hindi films, 11 Kannada films, 11 Malayalam, 9 Marathi, 13 Tamil, etc. The second thing we need to establish, is what the scope is for the summary box at the top of the article. Currently we have 20 examples. Also, since Hindi is almost always going to dominate this table, is it worth including? TheRedPenOfDoom, Bhuvannalla, thoughts? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:06, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I say top ten on each one with top being 15 I'd guess. It may just be easier to do an RFC and get votes across the board. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 11:47, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

For uniformity, it is better to maintain top 10 in all the sections including the top one. If we put top one at 15 or 20 and the remaining at 10, I think editors are being confused and are adding more to the top 10 lists of the other sections. We can allow less than 10 if information is not available but not more than 10. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bhuvannalla (talk • contribs) 12:39, 25 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Recently, Hindi movies picked up in gross collections. Earlier Telugu and Tamil movies used to collect almost similar collections when compared to Hindi movies. But if Telugu and Tamil movies are dubbed into other languages, they have the same potentiality as that of Hindi movies. So it is better to keep the top box and we can give the summary for it as "The following list shows India's top 10 highest grossing films, which includes films from all the Indian languages". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bhuvannalla (talk • contribs) 13:55, 25 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Versions

I think it's implied that the grosses are for all versions of the films (dubbed I mean). That seems to be way the other highest-grossing film articles work and for the top films here, that's the implication at least (I don't see any evidence that for example PK isn't including the Mandarin dubbing numbers). For a few, it looks like we only have the gross for the Tamil version which is incomplete but if that's what we have, it's what we have. For those, I put it as a note as it's not really that importance enough to change the charts, it's just an indication that the chart listing is the best source we have. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 19:32, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sholey

Should we include Sholay in the tables? A separate adjusted for inflation table? The 300 crore total wouldn't even be in the Hindi table at the moment and would be just above Enthiran and I think we'd be better served with older films adjusted for inflation if we have the numbers. It would really be a better representative sample of the top films of all time rather than just a listing here of current films (which I really doubt at what people would consider the "top" films of all time). If we do a separate table, it wouldn't be too hard, we can just use Template:INRConvert with the year parameter which would do its own adjustments (Sholay wouldn't do that as the sources provide a current estimate). -- Ricky81682 (talk) 20:02, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have much faith in the INRConvert template. I've compared some of its results to online inflation calculators, and it's been off by a significant margin. For instance:
150 million (equivalent to 4.2 billion or US$50 million in 2023)
vs when I run it here I get 2,791,694,219.79
On the other hand, I don't know how much I trust the online inflation calcuators either.
When I run it here, I get 2,875,288,729.20
Anyhow, since we know that all the box values are estimates anyway, I don't know what value we're getting by adjusting estimates for inflation. Seems like we're inviting more Indian cinema box office headaches. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:24, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Baahubali: The Beginning should be labelled as a telugu movie

In the list of highest grossing Indian movies Baahubali: The Beginning has been listed as "Telugu and Tamil", while Enthiran, which falls in similar category is listed as just Tamil. Either of those need to be updated to be the same.

Telugu and Tamil are different languages, while movies in either of those languages have significant revenues in both the regions, each of those languages have their own film industries and have to be treated as different. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.169.171.33 (talk) 02:59, 25 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It's not clear what changes you are proposing. Baahubali was produced simultaneously, i.e. not dubbed, in both languages. Its classification as both Telugu and Tamil was the result of a lengthy discussion that should be in the talk page archive. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 12:41, 25 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: as you have not cited reliable sources to back up your request, without which no information should be added to, or changed in, any article.
According to this article the 600 crore is correct - so who is giving the wrong information? - Arjayay (talk) 19:22, 16 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

please change 735cr to 647cr because the old collection amount for "pk" movie given was fake.

Not done for now: There's nothing inherently "fake" about the value, since it is sourced here. Box office estimates are estimates, not incontrovertible fact, so you should consider that when making these requests. A range of estimates might be warranted, but in either case both references are six months old and newer estimates might be available. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 06:51, 19 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
