Semi-protected edit request on 14 July 2021

Under the Views on Homosexuality section, please fix/remove one of the duplicate paragraphs about his interview with the Folha de S.Paulo, where he's listed as saying the same thing in May 2002 and November 2011 with the same source referenced [259] and [262]. WorldanGo (talk) 12:19, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think either of those paragraphs is actually correct. The first one says the interview was eight years before the source was written, the second paragraph says the interview happened a year AFTER the source was written. Based on a google translate of the source it looks like it was actually from a television program The "recipe" was given in the program "Participação Popular" on TV Câmara, which discussed the "Spanking Law" - a bill that prohibits corporal punishment of children. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 12:35, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Partly done: I removed the two paragraphs as they don't match the sourcing. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 12:39, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, ScottishFinnishRadish, you are wrong. The source says, literally, the following: "Se o filho começa a ficar assim, meio gayzinho, [ele] leva um couro e muda o comportamento dele", which, according to Google Translate, means: "If the son starts getting like that, a little gay, [he] takes a slap and change his behavior". It's pretty much verbatim what the source says. Now for the date, i'm not sure, so i removed the date. However, there is a May 2002 interview, where Bolsonaro said: "“I won’t fight against it nor discriminate, but if I see two men kissing each other on the street, I’ll beat them up”. Maybe the person who added that got the two interviews confused, but only the date. The content, however, matches the source. Coltsfan (talk) 14:24, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Coltsfan, it also wasn't an interview with Folha de S.Paulo. The source is quoting him from another source, which appears to be a television program. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 14:27, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
This has been corrected too. Coltsfan (talk) 14:28, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Coltsfan, excellent. Thanks. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 14:30, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Size

I'm here once again to call everybody's attention to the size of the article. As i said to User:Llll5032, i transferred a lot of content from this article to another one. The "blow-by-blow", of Bolsonaro's presidency must be added to the article of his presidency (but still, atention to WP:EXCESSDETAIL and WP:NOTNEWS). I think there are more things that can be removed, for instance i think the section "Accusations of violating international law" should be deleted. It's a bit bias, a lot of information there are lawsuits that didn't go anywhere, it's just a pile of information with little to no relevance (at least for now). But again, people must pay attention to the size of the article or it might become too big. Coltsfan (talk) 00:33, 27 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The section presidency is becoming quite large again. Like in other articles, especially of politicians who are still in power and events are still evolving, usually the section about their administrations contains only the broad strokes of things. If anyone oppose, i'm gonna start moving most of what's there to the article Presidency of Jair Bolsonaro, where the blow-by-blow of his administration can be more elaborate. Coltsfan (talk) 17:44, 6 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Coltsfan: Hi! It was me who had added the content in the sub-subsection "Accusations of violating international law", without this being my primary goal, because I was looking for information about the deforestation in the Amazon rainforest. Do what you think is best—per Wikipedia guidelines, if you want to remove the content then keep a two-sentence summary. Four denunciations for crimes against humanity, and sued by two top Brazilian indigenous leaders are not unimportant. For the rest, maybe a request for page protection could stop the massacre that would give you time to clean up. Oroborvs (talk) 19:38, 6 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Oroborvs:, just to be clear, not a word of the content in the article will be "deleted", they will just be transferred to another article. Having that, I wouldn't call these four accusations made against him in court as "unimportant", but I'd say that it is mostly WP:NOTNEWS. It's worth mentioning, but always keeping in mind that it's a developing story that there is no indication that will move forward. It might, and if it does, then it will be very important, but for now, it's just an accusation with very little bearing. Worth mentioning, but to that length, at least in this article. Coltsfan (talk) 19:48, 6 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Coltsfan: Ok. I told you that overall, it is important ("are not unimportant"). It is true that there is redundancy in the text and that the outcome of the accusations are unknown for the moment. So, I will not go into an edit warring with you if you want to transfer this text to another article, and I do not intend to add more content to the page on this topic of crimes against humanity. Oroborvs (talk) 20:09, 6 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Oroborvs:, well i wasn't intending to engage in any EW, that's why i opened this topic here before doing any editing. But it's cool. Coltsfan (talk) 20:15, 6 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Coltsfan: I answered because I am the author of the text. Have a good day. Oroborvs (talk)
Article tagged with {{very long}}. Recommend splitting more content to the Presidency article or elsewhere, where it does not fail WP:NOTNEWS. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 10:36, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Birth control for the poor

A few years ago I was the one who translated Bolsonaro's statement in the section Birth control for the poor. Since English isn't my first language, that was a rushed and mistranslated version and I was hoping someone would proof-read and properly translate it, however it stays exactly as I left. Is there someone fluent in English and Portuguese who can correct it? There's even grammar issues, such as "It's not even worthy to talk about (...)" Besides not being properly translated, I remember this section was flagged by many as not being notorious enough (WP:EXCESSDETAIL and WP:NOTNEWS)).— Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.18.37.68 (talk) 09:24, 17 August 2021 (UTC) So...?[reply]

This was already debated in the past. There is no need to turn this into an annual tradition. Coltsfan (talk) 15:16, 10 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
