Steven M. Greer (June 28, 1955) is an American physician and ufologist who founded the Orion Project and The Disclosure Project.
Early life

Career
Greer was trained as a Transcendental Meditation teacher in 1975. [1]
Greer once managed an emergency room at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. [citation needed] According to Greer he had a close encounter in 1973. He was trained in Transcendental Meditation in 1975. He claims to have had another form of contact in 1990 which he does not go into detail about, and started CSETI shortly thereafter.[2]
Greer claims that he is a contactee who has coined the term "close encounter of the fifth kind" to describe human-initiated contact with extraterrestrials.[3]
In 1992 Greer founded The Disclosure Project whose goal is to expose the existence of a US government cover-up of information relating to unidentified flying objects (UFOs). The Disclosure Project has been well received by UFO enthusiasts, with speeches from Greer and various other witnesses being presented at various UFO-themed conferences. Greer has held press conferences and embarked on a continuing series of lectures and television appearances trying to raise popular support.[4]
As of 1995, Greer was chairman of the department of emergency medicine at Caldwell Memorial Hospital and the head of the Center for the Study of Extraterrestrial Intelligence (CSETI) whose goal is to initiate contact with extraterrestrials.Cite error: The opening <ref> tag is malformed or has a bad name (see the help page).
On Wednesday, May 9, 2001, over twenty military, intelligence, government, corporate and scientific witnesses came forward at the National Press Club in Washington, DC to report their first-hand job experience with non-terrestrial vehicles, life forms and propulsion technologies.[5] All the witnesses who presented a report about their experience with non terrestrial matters concluded their speech with the formula "I am ready to testify under oath before Congress that everything I have said is true".[6]
In 2012, Steven M. Greer teamed up with director Amardeep Kaleka of Neverending Light Productions to create a feature-length documentary about new energy technology, its alleged connection to the ET/UFO phenomenon and purported related secrecy imposed by quasi-governmental entities. The pre-set production budget of raising more than 250,000 US-Dollars was achieved in August 2012 through crowdfunding.[7][8]
Greer has appeared on Larry King Live,[9] CBS, BBC, NTV in Japan, Sightings, Encounters, Ancient Aliens on the History Channel, Coast to Coast AM,[10] the Art Bell show, the Armstrong Williams radio show and hosts an Internet radio segment called "Conversations with Dr. Steven Greer".
