"Same Girl" is a song released by R&B singer R. Kelly, from his 2007 album Double Up, featuring R&B singer, Usher. The song was originally recorded over a year ago by upcoming R&B group Nephu. R. Kelly and Usher's version leaked to the Internet on May 2, 2007 and later leaked to radio stations. This song was #26 on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Best Songs of 2007.[1]
The video was shot from June 1 to June 3, 2007.
The remix replaces Usher with T-Pain.
It was also rumored that R. Kelly stole the song from Nephu, but Nephu stated on their official myspace that although they originally recorded the song over a year ago, they never obtained legal ownership of it.[2] At this point, Nephu will not be releasing "Same Girl" on their upcoming album on Sho'nuff Records.[3]
Music video
On June 19, 2007, BET premiered the official music video for "Same Girl" and aired it throughout the day, every hour on the hour. It later premiered on the network's 106 & Park as a New Joint of the Day.
In the song, R. Kelly and Usher talk about a girl they love who turns out to be the same person. In the video, during the first verse, R. Kelly is seen in Chicago calling Usher at his home in Atlanta, telling him about a woman that he is in love with. As it turns out, Usher is dating the same girl as Kelly, who ends up flying out to meet up with Usher in the chorus. As the second verse begins, Usher picks up R. Kelly at the airport and the two talk about how they each met this girl in their home towns. Eventually, as the two play basketball together, the two come up with the idea to call this girl out on her lies, and show up at dinner with her together. However, at the end of the video, it is revealed that Usher and R. Kelly weren't dating the same girl, because the girl just happened to have an identical twin.
