Ranbir Kapoor (Hindi: रणबीर कपूर, born September 28, 1982 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India) is an Indian actor who appears in Bollywood movies.

Biography

Personal life

Born to popular actors Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh, Kapoor is the brother of Riddhima Kapoor. He is the great grandson of Prithviraj Kapoor, and the grandson of actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor. His uncles are Randhir Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor, and his cousins include Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and Nikhil Nanda.

In a recent interview, Kapoor confirmed his relationship with Deepika Padukone to the media saying, "We've been dating for the past couple of weeks. I am very happy in my relationship with Deepika...I want to be this way all the time."[1]. He considers Sonam Kapoor, his co-star from Saawariya as his very good friend.[2]

Career

Kapoor made his debut in November 2007 with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya opposite newcomer Sonam Kapoor. The film failed to do well at the box office,[3] though he received many positive reviews for his portrayal of the lovesick singer, Ranbir Raj. Critic, Taran Adarsh commented, "Ranbir Kapoor is supremely talented, no two opinions on that. Yes, he looks handsome, but what you carry home is the sincerity in his performance. If that's the [high] level of performance in his debut film, this lad will only make the Kapoor clan proud in years to come. It's a 10 on 10 for this debutante." [4]

As of June 2008, Kapoor is currently awaiting the release of Siddharth Anand's Bachna Ae Haseeno, which released on August 15, 2008. Furthermore, he is filming for two films simultaneously including Rajkumar Santoshi's Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani opposite Katrina Kaif[5] as well as Wake up Sid, where he will be seen with Konkona Sen Sharma.
