''Ram Gopal Verma Ki Aag'' opened to universally negative reviews from the press and the moviegoers. It is being considered a very insincere tribute to the original. It is unclear whether the movie is intended to be a remake or a parody of the original. Other reasons given for its poor reviews range from very poor chemistry between the new Jai and Veeru, poor editing, a very tepid romance track, attempts to create alternatives to the original's most famous dialogues and shoddy performances. Only Amitabh as Babban,Mohan Lal as Narsimha and Sushmita Sen as Durga Devi have been praised for their performances by some reviewers.
