This is a chronological list of wrestlers that have been WWE Hardcore Champion by ring name. The WWE Hardcore Championship is a former professional wrestling title competed for in World Wrestling Entertainment under hardcore rules. The title was created on November 2 1998. The first champion was Mankind, who was awarded the title by Vince McMahon. The title was finally retired on August 26 2002 when WWE Intercontinental Champion Rob Van Dam defeated Hardcore Champion Tommy Dreamer to unify the Hardcore title into the Intercontinental title. There have been a total of 51 recognized champions who have had a combined 234 official reigns.[1]
