Jay Papasan is the vice president of publishing and executive editor at Keller Williams Realty, Inc.,[1] an Austin, Texas-based residential real estate franchise company, the second largest of its kind in North America.[2] Papasan became a bestselling author in 2003 with the release of The Millionaire Real Estate Agent, coauthored by Gary Keller and Dave Jenks.[3] He has gone on to coauthor five more bestselling books. He is also a motivational speaker,[4] an editor and author at KellerINK, and a principal of the Papasan Real Estate Team.

History

Papasan spent several years as an associate editor at HarperCollins Publishers, where he worked on many books, including Body-for-Life by Bill Phillips and Go for the Goal by Mia Hamm. A graduate of the New York University graduate writing program, his freelance work has appeared in Texas Monthly and Memphis Magazine.[5]

In 2003, Papasan and Keller founded KellerINK and released the first book of the "Millionaire" series: The Millionaire Real Estate Agent. Coauthored by Gary Keller and Dave Jenks, the work spent time on the BusinessWeek bestseller list.[3][6] In 2005, the KellerINK team coauthored their second book, The Millionaire Real Estate Investor, which appeared on the The New York Times bestseller list,[7] as well as the bestseller list for BusinessWeek.[8]

In 2007, Papasan collaborated with Rick Villani and Clay Davis on FLIP: How to Buy, Fix and Sell Houses for Profit. In 2008, he coauthored Your First Home[9][10] with Gary Keller and Dave Jenks, and in 2009, the team wrote SHIFT: How Top Agents Tackle Tough Times,[2] which was Nielsen BookScan's #1 Real Estate Book for 2009.[11] In 2010, the book appeared on The Wall Street Journal Business bestseller list[12] and The New York Times Business bestseller list. The same year, Papasan coauthored Soci@l with Ben Kinney.[13] [14]

In 2011, Papasan worked with Buddy Norman to create Shift Commercial: How Top Commercial Brokers Tackle Tough Times.[15] The third book in the "Millionaire" investor series, HOLD: How to Find, Buy, and Rent Houses for Wealth, debuted in 2012 on USA Today's bestselling book list.[16][17]

Keller and Papasan announced their first non-real estate book in July 2012, The One Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results, which will be released in April 2013.[18][19]

Awards

In 2011, Papasan and coauthor Ben Kenny won the Bronze Award at the annual National Association of Real Estate Editors competition for Soci@l.[13][14]

At the same awards ceremony in 2012, Papasan and coauthor Buddy Norman received the Bronze Robert Bruss Book Award for Shift Commercial.[15]
