Ilay Feingold[1] (also spelled Faingold,[2] Hebrew: עיליי פיינגולד; born 23 August 2004) is an Israeli professional footballer who plays as a right-back or centre-back for Israeli Premier League club Maccabi Haifa and the Israel national under-21 team.
Early and personal life[edit]
Feingold was born and raised in Netanya, Israel,[3][4] to an Israeli family of Ashkenazi Jewish (Romanian-Jewish) descent.[4][5][6] His father Avi Feingold is an electrician.[4][5][7][8]
He also holds Romanian passport, on account of his Ashkenazi Jewish ancestors,[5][7][8][6] which eases the move to certain European football leagues.[5][7][8]
Club career[edit]
Maccabi Haifa[edit]
on 6 December 2023, Feingold made his senior debut for Israeli Premier League champions Maccabi Haifa in the 2023–24 UEFA Europa League group stage, that ended in an away 0–0 draw against Spanish side Villarreal.[9][10]
On 17 December, he made his senior Israeli Premier League debut for Maccabi Haifa, as well as part of the opening line-up (XI), at the prominent Haifa derby that ended in a 3–0 league victory for Feingold's club over its city rival Hapoel Haifa.[11]
International career[edit]
Feingold has played at the for Israel U19, where he had a crucial role as part the opening line-up in the 2022 UEFA European Under-19 Championship which took place in Slovakia, and helped his native Israel to earn 2nd place (runner-ups) in the finals; just behind eventual champions England U19.
Feingold also played at the subsequent Israel U20, providing yet another essential involvement of his, 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup which took place in Argentina; where Israel finisihed 3rd place (bronze medals).[12][13]
As of 2023, he also plays for Israel U21.[14]
