Koosafaaro was an officer of [[Mohamed Abshir Muse]] during the 1960s. In responsive to power-sharing disagreements, the Habar Gidir staged a small revolt in 1964. The collective punishment meted out by Koosafaaro resulted in the first ever organized armed resistance in Somalia called Koofiya Dhuub. In the 1970s he led a subset of the police called ''ciidanka darwiish'' meaning the Darwishian Force, whose members donned a white keffiyeh.<ref>The nature of the state in Somalia and Somaliland: The Conversations of the Statebuilding and Peacebuilding Processes</ref> |
