Chitwania Tharu also known as Chhetriya Tharu, Chitoniya Tharu, Chitwan Tharu or Madhya Ksetriya Tharu is a Indo Aryan language spoken by the Tharu people in the Bagmati Province (Chitwan District), Gandaki Province (East Nawalparasi district), and Janakpur Province (Bara and Parsa districts, northern municipalities) of Nepal as well as in India. It is actively used within the language community, spoken in the home, with friends, as well as used in religion, work, and education.

The language is employed by people of all ages with mixed attitudes ranging from neutral to negative. Additionally, Chitwan Tharu shares space with Bhojpuri and Hindi. Linguistically, it follows an SOV word order, employs postpositions, and features noun head final structure. It has two genders, allows up to three suffixes, and marks clause constituents through case-marking. The language has literature, newspapers, periodicals, and is used in various media such as radio and videos.
