Delta Air Lines Flight 1086 was a scheduled domestic passenger flight between Atlanta and New York. On March 5, 2015, the flight, operated by a McDonnell Douglas MD-88, exited the runway 13[1] upon landing at LaGuardia Airport in New York City.[2][3][4][5][6][7] The plane crashed through a perimeter fence before coming to a halt on an embankment a few metres short of Flushing Bay. There were no fatalities, although several people suffered minor injuries. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.[8]

Background

Flight 1086 took off from Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airportat 8:45am EST and scheduled to land at LaGuardia Airport at 10:48am. It was snowing at the time at LaGuardia Airport. Two planes landed before DL1086 and reported no problems.

Incident

Runway 13 was closed until the next morning.[9] The airport was closed immediately after the accident at approximately 11 am and was not reopened until 1900 local time.[citation needed]

Few Passengers took pictures and videos after the plane crash.

Investigation
