"'''Crank That (Soulja Boy)'''" is the hit debut single by [[rapper]] [[Soulja Boy]] from his debut album ''[[Souljaboytellem.com]]''. It spent seven weeks at number one on the U.S. [[Billboard Hot 100]] in 2007. The song is easily recognized with its [[steel pan]] melody. Soulja Boy performed the song on both ''[[Total Request Live|TRL]]'' and ''[[106 & Park]]'' on the same day in August 27, 2007. He also performed it on the [[2007 MTV Video Music Awards]] at [[Kanye West]]'s [[Good Life (Kanye West song)|Good Life]] Party.

The song is on [[Now That's What I Call Music! 26 (U.S. series)|Now That's What I Call Music! 26]]. This song was #21 on ''[[Rolling Stone]]''<nowiki></nowiki>'s list of the 100 Best Songs of 2007.<ref>No byline ([[December 11]], [[2007]]). ==Music video==

The video starts off with 2 kids doing the Soulja Boy dance, and [[Mr. Collipark]] asks the children what they're doing, then talks to Soulja online and asks Soulja Boy to sign him up to his label "[[Mr. Collipark|Collipark Records]]", then he goes to Soulja Boy, and he sees many people doing the dance on the way, showing that the dance is popular.

The [[music video]] features [[Bow Wow]], [[Omarion]], [[Unk]], [[Baby D (Atlanta rapper)|Baby D]], [[Jibbs]], [[Rich Boy]] and several dancers doing the signature "Soulja Boy Dance." The chorus mentions [[Superman]], and that position is performed in the dance, but the video censors the Superman tag: a giant one on Soulja Boy's [[hoodie]] and one on a man who is wearing a Superman costume. The "S" on him is actually supposed to stand for "Soulja", but is the form of the "S" of the Superman tag. While there's also a "B" on him, also in the form of the Superman tag, but smaller and a "B", standing for "Boy", both tags on either side of the chest of the hoodie. In other videos, "[[Collipark]]" is also censored, which Mr. Collipark types it into his computer and "Collipark Records" is the mat Soulja Boy and the dancers dance on, and a chain which Soulja wears.

==Remixes==
There are various [[remix]]es of this song, which include artists such as [[Twista]]<ref>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CodggkAAaxk</ref>, [http://myspace.com/lillee90 Lil Lee], [[Jermaine Dupri]] and [[Short Dawg]]<ref>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kz5HEFK8FVo</ref>, Broken Equipment Productions As [[Lil Wayne]]<ref>http://youtube.com/watch?v=csAL8qekTGM</ref>, [[Cassidy (rapper)|Cassidy]]<ref>http://youtube.com/watch?v=HwfCoVqcg5c</ref>, [[Jae Millz]]<ref>http://youtube.com/watch?v=nVZvq7yzVwg</ref>, and [[Tone-Tone]] . There is also an official remix, "[[Travis Barker]] Remix" (which replaced most of the piano with guitar and drums). There is also a unofficial remix that has been released (commonly thought to be official although not) which features a new beat with Soulja Boy's first verse from the original song, a opening verse with the same old beat by a [[Lil' Wayne]] imitator, a verse on the new beat by [[Jibbs]], a new beat verse by [[Hurricane Chris (rapper)|Hurricane Chris]], and a final verse taken from [[Pop Bottles]] on the new beat by Lil' Wayne. In other words, this unofficial remix features the old and a new beat plus a Lil' Wayne imitation and verse taken from another song, Jibbs, & Hurricane Chris and can be found here [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHVYcnEiBMg here].

The song has also spawned somewhat of a subgenre, with many artists creating similar but usually totally different "Crank Dat" songs such as [http://youtube.com/watch?v=u_IVvwcAx8s Crank Dat Batman], [http://youtube.com/watch?v=uihQ2SkEQ00 Crank Dat Homeless Man], Crank Dat Crabtree (Michael Crabtree), Crank That Kosher Boy, Crank That Spiderman, Crank That Forrest Gump, [[The Juggernaut Bitch!!#Crank Dat Jugganaut|Crank That Juggernaut]], Crank That Micheal Jackson, Crank That Crackhead and [http://youtube.com/watch?v=YVQ2IAgj8xM Crank Dat Howard Dean]. Most of these also have their own official dances.
Also, a student in [[Farmersville, Texas]] created a remix for the football team "Fightin' Farmers" and their mascot Farmer Joe called Crank That Farmer Joe.

==Chart performance==
The song reached the summit of the Hot 100 on September 15, 2007, where it stayed for two weeks before it was replaced by "[[Stronger (Kanye West song)|Stronger]]" by [[Kanye West]]. It replaced the song again on October 6, 2007, staying at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for another five weeks, making it a number one-single for a total of seven weeks. Through radio airplay on several stations that occasionally play hip-hop, the song charted at number 85 on Mediabase's [[Alternative Rock]] chart. <ref>http://w2.mediabase.com/mmrweb/AllAccess/Charts.asp?format=r3MM&showtopn=500&cutoff=1</ref>

The song is also achieving international success; so far, it has peaked at number two on the Top 40 Singles Chart in New Zealand. <ref>http://acharts.us/nz_singles_top_40</ref> In the UK the song managed to debut at #53 on the [[UK Singles Chart]] on downloads alone, and since has moved up to #3 on downloads alone.
