Chatri Sityodtong or Yodchatri Sityodtong (born 1971) is a Muay Thai trainer, fighter, and entrepreneur from the Sityodtong Gym in Pattaya, Thailand. He is currently the Founder and Chairman of the Evolve MMA chain of martial arts academies.

Family and Education

Chatri is half Thai and half Japanese from a poor family that at one point was homeless and, in his words, "lived on one meal per day."[1][2] He later graduated with a B.A. in Economics from Tufts University, and obtained an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1999.

Martial Arts

Sityodtong started Muay Thai as a child under Kru Yodtong Senanan of Sityodtong Camp in Pattaya, Thailand. A veteran of over 30 fights, Sityodtong's last professional Muay Thai fight was in 2008 in Thailand. He is a certified senior Muay Thai instructor under Kru Yodtong Senanan of the Sityodtong Camp in Pattaya, Thailand.[3][4] Before his death, Kru Yodtong appointed his long-time student Kru Chatri Sityodtong as one of 4 conservators of Sityodtong Muay Thai in the world. Sityodtong is also a Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Master Renzo Gracie.

Entrepreneur

A multi-millionaire entrepreneur, Sityodtong is also involved in real estate, media, and technology businesses. Chatri Sityodtong graduated from Harvard University with an MBA from Harvard Business School.[5][6]

Evolve MMA

Sityodtong is the Founder and Chairman of Evolve MMA, a chain of martial arts academies and home to the Evolve Fight Team, one of the leading teams in mixed martial arts.

Evolve MMA has been described by CNN as Asia's number one-ranked MMA-training organization.[7] In January 2013, MMA Mania named Evolve MMA as the #1 MMA camp in Asia.[8] In March 2012, Chatri Sityodtong was named the 3rd Most Powerful Person in Asian MMA by The Fight Nation website.[9] In December 2011, Evolve MMA was voted the Best International MMA Gym in the world by the readers of leading MMA website, MiddleEasy.[10] In September 2011, CNN described Evolve MMA as Asia's number one-ranked mixed martial arts organization.[11] In December 2011, Yodchatri Sityodtong was named by MSN as one of the top coaches in the world alongside Greg Jackson, Alex Ferguson, Pep Guardiola, and José Mourinho.[12]

He is also the head coach and leader of the Evolve Fight Team.

Sityodtong has trained, coached, or cornered top professional fighters such as DREAM FC Lightweight World Champion Shinya Aoki, former UFC Middleweight Champion Rich Franklin, UFC Lightweight Contender Rafael dos Anjos, BJJ World Champion Zorobabel Moreira, BJJ World Champion Leandro Issa Da Silva, Muay Thai World Champion Yoddecha Sityodtong, former WBA Boxing World Champion Yodsanan Sor Nanthachai at events such as the UFC, ONE Fighting Championship, DREAM Fighting Championship, the Art of War Fighting Championship, and the Lumpinee Stadium Championship.[13]
