Ahluwalia is a surname used by Kalal community of Punjab which is a pure Indian Haihay vanshi kshatriya caste. In East and west India as well as eastern UP. it is also known as Kalwar or kalar

The Ahluwalia's were originally from Haihai vanshi kshatriya Caste who are direct descendant of Greatest King of Ancient India -Maharaj Sahastra-Baahu who was famous for his thousand arms and his rivalary with Parshuram Guru Of Karna()Mahabharat).  H. P. S. Ahluwalia – Mountaineer. Third person to reach the peak of Mt. Everest on 29 May 1965. In Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 he was injured and confined to the wheel chair. He set up Indian Spinal Injury Society in 1993. He was awarded Padma Bhushan award in 2002.
