Gaithersburg High School (GHS) is located in Gaithersburg, Maryland, United States. Part of Montgomery County Public Schools, the school was founded in 1904 as "Gaithersburg School" and offered grades K-12. Since 1951, the school resides at 314 South Frederick Avenue and currently offers education for those in grades 9–12. Both Forest Oak Middle School and Gaithersburg Middle School feed into the high school. Gaithersburg High is a very diverse school. As of 2011, it is 27.3% Black, 9.4% Asian, 36.9% Hispanic, and 23.7% White. The graduation rate is 76.2%.

New building
A new school is being built starting summer 2011, expected to be complete for the start of the 2013 school year. Adding the new building to the wing they built in 2007 with renovations to that wing. A limited amount of student parking is available due to the construction of the new building on the student lot

Women's Basketball
Gaithersburg High School women's basketball team has been very successful for the past 6 years. With four State Final appearances and two State Championships, Gaithersburg has been a top contender in the state of Maryland. [2]
Men and Women's Swimming
Gaithersburg High School has had a swimming program since 1970. Gaithersburg is 1 of 26 high schools in Montgomery County that swim in 4 divisions based on how successful a team is. Each division has a number of teams which varies from year to year based on a team's record from the previous season.
More recently, the swimming & diving team, with athletes of different skill levels, has been one of the larger teams in the Montgomery County Public Schools.[3] A season consists of 2 Scrimmages (one at the beginning of the season and one before the divisional meet), 5 Dual Meets, 1 Divisional Meet, 1 Metros Meet, 1 Regional Meet, and 1 State Meet.[4] The Washington Metropolitan Interscholastic Swim Meet (commonly referred as Metros) is an invitational meet for swimming and diving teams from the D.C. area private schools and the Montgomery County Public Schools.

Notable alumni
- Dominique Dawes (1995), three-time USA Olympic gymnast (transferred from Montgomery Blair High School).
- Hank Fraley, an NFL center who last played for the St Louis Rams during the 2010 season. He played with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2000 to 2006.
- Tom McHale (1981), former NFL Offensive Lineman who played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also played with the Philadelphia Eagles.
- Guy Prather (1976), former NFL Linebacker who played for the Green Bay Packers.
- Judah Friedlander, a 1987 graduate, is a comedian and actor who currently stars in 30 Rock.
- Tony Greene (1966), former NFL Defensive Back of the Buffalo Bills.[15]
- Bryan Steele, NCAA track and field runner, Long Island University, runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles at the 2006 NCAA Track and Field Championships, runs for Jamaica's national team.

- Kevin Brady (baseball) (2008) Philadelphia Phillies 2012 10th round draft pick and Clemson University pitcher[18]
- Mark Schenker, (1983) songwriter, producer, currently bass player for the platinum-selling hard rock band KIX.[19]
- Tosin Abasi, guitarist for the progressive instrumental band Animals as Leaders attended but did not graduate from Gaithersburg. He left school as a junior to pursue a career in music in 2000.
- Logic (rapper), or Sir Robert Bryson Hall II, is an American rapper who attended Gaithersburg High School but did not graduate. He was expelled and pursued his music career instead.
