Requests for registration

Please read the guide on the main page before requesting permission. In applying for AWB access, you indicate that you will abide by its terms.

Also, this page is for requesting AWB Access for this wiki (English Wikipedia) only. Other projects have their own check pages and you should ask administrators there to add you.

Please add your name to the bottom of the appropriate list (user or bot) on this page below using *{{AWBUser|your username}} ~~~~~. Enter your user name exactly as the software displays it, for example in the 'Basic information' section of your preferences. Do not use underscores instead of spaces or change the case of the first letter. Note that all usernames begin with an uppercase letter or a symbol.

If the list contains undecided entries that are over 48 hours old, please change {{noadminbacklog}} to {{adminbacklog}} at the top of this page.

Note that users with under 500 mainspace non-automated edits are rarely approved. You only need to give a reason for wanting AWB access if you have fewer than 500 mainspace non-automated edits. Administrators are automatically approved and do not need to list themselves.

If approved, your name will be added to the CheckPage. If you will make many or fast automated edits using AWB, you may wish to use a separate (or bot) account for the purpose.

Without warning, I find I'm being told by the program that "CsDix is not enabled to use this". Please renable, as (1) I wasn't warned; (2) When asked, I immediately stopped making edits deemed to be inappropriate. I apologize for any disruption caused. CsDix (talk) 12:21, 8 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You have been warned and asked to stop, yet continued violating the WP:AWB rule #4. Your actions left a trail of useless edits on highly visible pages (replacing direct links by redirects in country articles - no, please do not revert that only for the sake of correcting, as this will create another chain of watchlist spamming). Your replies indicated that you do not admit violating any rules. No hard feelings, but all this combined does not seem compatible with the use of automated tools. I was not warned that I would lose or had lost the privilege of using AWB – yes, I recognize it is a privilege. When asked to stop, I did stop and so did not continue to violate any rules. I undertake not to use AWB merely to replace links with redirections. Please reinstate my use of AWB for the sake of the (many) other unchallenged contributions I have made and wish to continue to make using it. Again, my apologies for the disruption caused.  Not done You've only had AWB since January 10, and there are a number of concerns expressed on your talk page already. One user complained (on 12 February) that you were changing multiple instances of a template to a redirect using AWB. He stated that your actions were 'expressly forbidden.' Even today there is a new complaint at WP:ANI#User:CsDix about your making 'wholesale changes to multiple templates'. The theme is that you've been making large numbers of changes that might not be generally supported and could be difficult to undo. AWB usage depends on your having good judgment as to the type of change that ought to receive wider consensus. I won't restore your AWB access, but you can appeal at an admin noticeboard if you wish. • Thank you for your message. I'm concerned that I didn't receive any warning that I was about to (or indeed had) lost the use of AWB. I'm also left wondering just what value the times I've used it without challenge or comment to contribute to the encyclopedia's function – many more times than the two times that have prompted a challenge and involving many more edits – might have. In case there is any doubt, I apologize for using AWB to replace links with redirections and, should I have use of it again, pledge to take care not to do the same again.
Am I to take your declining to restore access to be a permanent decision..? CsDix (talk) 16:03, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Why not continue this on your talk page? EdJohnston (talk) 16:17, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Okay (if that's acceptable procedure). CsDix (talk) 16:38, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
