Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited History of Estonia (1920-1939), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Kroon. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Thus, for further calculations we took the population of the USSR at the beginning of 1939 168 524.4 thousand. People in the old borders and 188 793.6 thousand. Atrocities...

...trying to keep keep the discussion on track at Talk:Hans-Joachim Marseille, but from an earlier period? Strictly, of course, it is true - everything we perceive is by nature from an earlier period. But atrocities by US forces are very much an ongoing concern - it seems to be a general problem of any military that the easiest way to get your soldiers to fight is dehumanising the opposition, and soon you end up with an unbroken tradition from Wounded Knee via My Lai to Bagram torture and prisoner abuse and the Granai airstrike. --Stephan Schulz (talk) 07:50, 27 November 2016 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Baltic-American Freedom Foundation

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Baltic-American Freedom Foundation, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. March Madness 2017

G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

As we approach the end of the year, the Military History project is looking to recognise editors who have made a real difference. Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. Panzer Ace article mediation

Hi Nug, thanks for all your input with the article so far. As we are going nowhere, I have put in a request for an outside mediator to look at it. The request for mediation is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_mediation/Panzer_Ace#Issues_to_be_mediated. Cheers Deathlibrarian (talk) 02:23, 12 January 2018 (UTC)

Formal mediation has been requested

The Mediation Committee has received a request for formal mediation of the dispute relating to "Panzer Ace". As an editor concerned in this dispute, you are invited to participate in the mediation. Mediation is a voluntary process which resolves a dispute over article content by facilitation, consensus-building, and compromise among the involved editors. After reviewing the request page, the formal mediation policy, and the guide to formal mediation, please indicate in the "party agreement" section whether you agree to participate. Because requests must be responded to by the Mediation Committee within seven days, please respond to the request by 19 January 2018.

Discussion relating to the mediation request is welcome at the case talk page. Thank you.

April 2018 Milhist Backlog Drive

G'day all, please be advised that throughout April 2018 the Military history Wikiproject is running its annual backlog elimination drive. This will focus on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • adding or improving listed resources on Milhist's task force pages
  • updating the open tasks template on Milhist's task force pages
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the scope of military history will be considered eligible. This year, the Military history project would like to extend a specific welcome to members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red, and we would like to encourage all participants to consider working on helping to improve our coverage of women in the military. This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 April and runs until 23:59 UTC on 30 April 2018. Those interested in participating can sign up here.

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:11, 16 August 2018 (UTC)

Non-free files

Hi Nug. One of the non-free content criteria that all non-free images must satisfy is WP:NFCC#9, which states that non-free content may only be used in the WP:MAINSPACE. This means non-free content cannot be used on userpages, or talk pages, etc. It appears that you only uploaded File:Estonia 1944 p861.jpg, etc. to try and help resolve a discussion at Talk:36th Estonian Police Battalion, however, non-free files cannot be used on such pages per NFCC#9 and WP:TPG#Non-free images. You can provide links to such images if they are located on some external website or you can even a link to websites corroborating what the images are supposed to verify, but you shouldn't upload non-free files to serve as some sort of reference to help you resolve a content dispute. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:43, 17 August 2018 (UTC)

Oeselians & Norsemen

Hi! You seem to know a lot about the Estonian history. There is an open discussion on the pages: Oeselians and Norsemen. There are editors claiming Oeselians were not Finnic or not speaking a Finnic language, and other editors claiming they were Finnic. On the Norsemen page, there are some editors claiming there was a Norse settlement on Saaremaa, while other editors are saying there's no proof for that. Would be grateful for your input! Thanks! Commons-emblem-notice.svgThis is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in Eastern Europe or the Balkans. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Your recent editing history at 20th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS (1st Estonian) shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
Your edits are misrepresenting the source. If other sources say other things, add them rather than pretend that a source says something it doesn't. Nick-D (talk) 11:01, 1 August 2019 (UTC)

Your split of Gas van into Nazi gas van and Soviet gas van.

Given that there was no prior discussion of this move and several objections on talk, I'm going to request make a technical move request to reverse it. Do you intend to contest this? (I would, personally, advise that you not to contest it - I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but editing the redirect resulting from a move makes the move impossible to reverse for a non-administrator, and I feel WP:BOLDly moving an article with no discussion and then instantly editing the redirect is therefore improper.) If you still want the split, despite the objections, we can have a WP:RM or WP:RFC afterwards, but it ought to be reversed first as a WP:BOLD move that at least three editors have objected to. Either way, though, I figured I should consult with you before I listed it as an uncontested reversal. --Aquillion (talk) 08:48, 13 November 2019 (UTC)
