Gummidipoondi is an industrial town in Thiruvallur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

As of 2001[update] India census,[1] Gummidipoondi had a population of 32665. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Gummidipoondi has an average literacy rate of 70%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 77%, and female literacy is 63%.
