Mathabhanga is a city and a municipality in Koch Bihar district in the Indian state of West Bengal.
Geography[edit]
Mathabhanga is located at 26°20′N 89°13′E / 26.33°N 89.22°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 50 m (160 ft). There are 2 rivers near Mathabhanga. One is Satranga (Sutunga) and the other is Mansai. When the sky is clear (mainly in summer, autumn and spring), mountains of Himalayas are visible.
Demographics[edit]
As of 2001[update] India census,[2] Mathabhanga had a population of 21,110. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Mathabhanga has an average literacy rate of 76%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 81%, and female literacy is 71%. In Mathabhanga, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.
