Malayemys is a genus of turtles in the Geoemydidae family. It was considered monotypic until 2004, but as of 2010 consists of two species. It is found in several countries of Southeast Asia.

Taxonomy[edit]

The genus description is attributed to Lindholm, 1931. Damonia was used by Gray in 1869, but is considered a junior homonym.[1][2] It was considered monotypic until 2004.[3] As of 2010, the genus consists of two species Malayemys macrocephala and Malayemys subtrijuga[1][2]

Distribution[edit]

Malayemys has a native distribution in Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam, and was introduced into Java, Indonesia.[1]
