Phansidewa (community development block) is an administrative division in Siliguri subdivision of Darjeeling district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Phansidewa police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is at Phansidewa.[1][2]

Geography[edit]

Phansidewa is located at 26°35′N 88°22′E / 26.58°N 88.36°E / 26.58; 88.36.[3] It has an average elevation of 98 metres (324 feet).

Phansidewa community development block has an area of 336.56  km2.[2]

Administration[edit]

Phansidewa block consists of rural areas only with 7 gram panchayats, viz.

  1. Bidhannagar–I,
  2. Chathat-Bansgaon,
  3. Ghoshpukur,
  4. Jalas–Nijamtara,
  5. Bidhannagar–II,
  6. Fansideoa Bansgoan
  7. Hetmuri–Singhijhora.

This block has one police station at Phansidewa. The headquarters of this block is in Phansidewa.

Demographics[edit]

As per 2011 Census of India Phansidewa CD Block had a total population of 204,522, all of which were rural. There were 103,719 males and 100,803 females. Scheduled Castes numbered 60,704 and Scheduled Tribes numbered 62,595.[4]

Literacy[edit]

As per 2011 census the total number of literates in Phansidewa CD Block was 113,572 out of which 64,890 were males and 48,682 were females.[4]
