Johannes Jacobus Engelbrecht (born 22 February 1989 in Port Elizabeth) is a South African rugby union footballer who plays as a wing or outside centre for the Bulls in Super Rugby and for Toyota Industries Shuttles in the Japanese Top League.[1][2]

Career[edit]

Provincial rugby[edit]

Engelbrecht graduated from Grey High School in the Eastern Cape. He was a member of their first XV rugby team.[3] He previously represented Western Province before making the move north along with team-mates Johann Sadie and Lionel Cronjé ahead of the 2012 Super Rugby season.[4]

In 2013, he signed a contract extension to keep him at the Blue Bulls until 2016.[5]

Toyota Industries Shuttles[edit]

After the 2015 Super Rugby season, Engelbrecht joined Japanese Top League side Toyota Industries Shuttles for the 2015–16 season.[6]

Representative rugby[edit]

He made his debut for South Africa on 18 August 2012 against Argentina, coming on as a 70th-minute substitute.[7]
