Cannabis Sativa

This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Technology. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Technology|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Technology. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.

Fails WP:NCORP. Sources are largely earning reports and announcements, considered trivial coverage. Others fall short of WP:CORPDEPTH. ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 02:48, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think this article fails WP:NCORP. Most sources are based on PR releases, thus inherently not independent. Churnalism. It is likely that this is a result of WP:UPE as the creator Zehnasheen has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion. A dime a dozen edutech company. Recommend deletion. Some days ago, Wikilover3509 (talk · contribs) tried to nominate this article for deletion, but ended up editing a previous nomination for a previous article at this title. Their rationale follows:

Does not meet WP:GNG or WP:NORG. The sources are almost entirely PR-based or non-independent. No actual in-depth coverage in reliable secondary sources, just press releases and blog posts.

This is mostly procedural on my part; I offer no opinion or further comment beyond noting that this has been tagged as, among other things, a possible WP:CORP failure since 2012. WCQuidditch 11:03, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No refs on the page for many years. Not clear what the topic really means outside of GSM, not clear that sources exist to show notability JMWt (talk) 09:18, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Note: This discussion has been included in the list of Technology-related deletion discussions. JMWt (talk) 09:18, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge/redirect to GSM I guess? Seems like an obscure and obsolete feature of old cellular phones used by one particular network during a transition period? I guess Wikipedia is not a paper encyclopedia and could cover a topic this obscure, if there were appropriate references, but there don't seem to be. I just see forum posts and patent applications (which are highly technical and don't explain the term, and are primary sources we wouldn't generally use anyway). --Here2rewrite (talk) 16:30, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete a generic term. The article is unsourced, and was presumably written based on a single-source: a description in a c.2005 manual about the GSM protocol. Walsh90210 (talk) 01:01, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: Possible COI editing, given that the initial draft of the article was just a copy-paste of press release. See the initial version and look at the last paragraph here. Also, their about page actually links to the Wikipedia article to "learn more", which is unlikely if they didn't write it themselves. However, someone does actually have to do the WP:NCORP checking. If anyone is trying to figure out what this company actually is the archived version of their website is much more helpful than the current one. It appears they've now become a mass-article publishing website trying to do tech support. The article is out of date. Mrfoogles (talk) 20:22, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Notability. I'm just not finding secondary coverage of this. Nor anything primary that's really convincing me of its significance. Andy Dingley (talk) 21:53, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It exists, but doesn't appear to be notable enough for a standalone article. A possible WP:ATD is merge/redirect to Huawei Mate series but I was unsure about that, especially as this is wholly unsourced. Boleyn (talk) 07:59, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Procedural nomination as the post-WP:BLAR redirect was rejected at WP:Redirects for discussion/Log/2024 May 6#Supplemental Result. One suggestion was to add content about the subject at the Google (I assume Google Search) article. Jay 💬 05:41, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Nominating following PROD and refund request. Appears to fail WP:NCORP and WP:GNG. Appears to mainly cite primary sources, with none sustaining a claim to notability. Various searches are struggling to turn up anything. Mdann52 (talk) 06:27, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The company went through a few name changes: first to Peninsula Wireless Communications, and then to Repeater Technologies. The company was taken public and then went bankrupt under the name Repeater Technologies. Peninsula Engineering Solutions is a successor organization, which was acquired by Infinity Wireless. https://www.infinitiwireless.com/we-are-pleased-to-announce-the-merger-of-their-two-companies/
The company's patent on split band filtering was a foundational patent in on frequency repeaters for cellular mobile radio. It is cited by 36 other patents, see: https://patents.google.com/patent/US4783843A/en Rabcfi (talk) 16:45, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep based on present citations and also have found these additional citations Insider Monkey, Seeking Alpha, itweb,  and The Street. It should be noted that this is a publicly listed company on NASDAQ and there are more news articles in Google under its current name and old name "Net 1 UEPS." Hkkingg (talk) 08:19, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hkkingg, Seeking Alpha and TheStreet are, as I understand it, generally considered group blogs, not RS, and as far as I can tell Insider Monkey seems to be the same. Is there any specific reason not immediately obvious you believe those sources meet the criteria? (itweb seems to be a WP:CORPROUTINE announcement as well) Alpha3031 (t • c) 08:52, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • I don't know about this one. Simply Wall Street has a detailed analysis of the company's stock performance,[2] and this article (the second half) has important facts about the company (e.g., "3,300 employees in five African countries"), but there are so many press releases in the search results that it's hard to tell what's useful.
