The result was delete. Clear consensus not to keep. The redirect sounds reasonable, but with no discussion of it at all, I'm not going to include it in the consensus. Feel free to create it on your own, however. -- RoySmith (talk) 13:18, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Contested PROD. Concern was Article about a footballer who fails WP:GNG and who has not played in a fully pro league. PROD was contested on the grounds that the article had been extended, which has no bearing on the notability concerns. Sir Sputnik (talk) 15:06, 27 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - fails WP:GNG and WP:NFOOTBALL. GiantSnowman 08:59, 28 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Notability tells: Players are deemed notable if they meet any of the criteria below: ... Have played in a competitive fixture between two fully professional clubs in a domestic, Continental or Intercontinental club competition. Krautschneider's club will appear in German Cup (2017–18 DFB-Pokal) against 2nd Bundesliga club SV Sandhausen on 13 August 2017. This is, due to the professional status of 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 first team, a competitive fixture between two fully professional clubs in a domestic, Continental or Intercontinental club competition. So on August 13th the criteria will be fulfilled, if the player will be nominated for the match. I am glad to help with closer verification if necessary.--Sekundogenitur (talk) 17:48, 28 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
There are two problems with this. Wikipedia is not a crystal ball, so speculation as to future appearances is never grounds for notability. More importantly, the essay you are citing explicitly says that it no longer applies to players: The player section of this notability guidance has been superseded by WP:Notability (sports), and is included below for information only as a record of the previous guidance that the Footy project came up with. In the context of Germany, a footballer meets the relevant notability guideline, if he has played in the Bundesliga, 2. Bundesliga, 3. Liga or a DFB-Pokal match between two clubs from these leagues. Sir Sputnik (talk) 17:58, 28 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I never saw Wikipedia as a crystal ball. My remark was that it is worthwhile to wait with a deletion until that day and decide then.--Sekundogenitur (talk) 18:34, 28 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Krautschneider still would not pass WP:NFOOTY if he appeared in the DFB-Pokal match, as Schweinfurt play in the Regionalliga, which is not a WP:FPL. S.A. Julio (talk) 13:26, 29 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
