Arrest[edit]

The paragraph about Hayashi's shoplifting arrest was deleted twice, with no reason given in the edit summary. In the process of restoring it a second time, I noticed a comment ("Ironically,...") which seemed POV and a bit inflammatory. I have tried to improve the paragraph by removing that comment and inserting an explanation from Hayashi's attorney.Peter Chastain (talk) 11:00, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There is still way too much detail on the shoplifint incident. statements reported by news sources, including her attorney, and the result of the court matters, should be it. the youtube video link should probably come down. i am not trying to defend her, im trying to write a mfing NPOV article.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 03:50, 1 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

External Link[edit]

I am Mary Hayashi, the subject of this page. I wanted to flag that the only External Link on the page is to a columnist (essentially an op-ed) that wrote a negative story about me. I'm not sure this is a good link to share in general, when far more reputable news-section articles have been written. However, also I don't see why this particular negative story by a columnist would be chosen as the only external link.

I also see that WP:ELOFFICIAL specifically allows an external link to my website. Therefore, I am requesting that the column be replaced with an official link to: https://www.maryhayashi.com/about/. Thank you for your consideration. Humphrey444 (talk) 18:40, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

request to add Women in Politics (book)[edit]

I am Mary Hayashi, the subject of the article. I just published a book[1] in October 2023. I wanted to ask that the book be added to the page:

Book citation: Hayashi, Mary (October 25, 2023). Women in Politics: Breaking Down the Barriers to Achieve True Representation. Mkc Press. ISBN 979-8-9890039-0-7.

I suggest something like this: Hayashi published a book called "Women in Politics: Breaking Down the Barriers to Achieve True Representation" on October 25, 2023. Women in Politics is about Hayashi's experiences as an Asian American immigrant and former California State Assemblymember and stories of other women in government.[1]

This could be added to the end of the "Early life and career" section. Humphrey444 (talk) 00:02, 7 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

request to add appointment to Mayor Karen Bass transition advisory team[edit]

Hello. I am Mary Hayashi, the subject of the article. I was appointed to the Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass Transition Advisory Team in January of 2023: https://jobs.lamayor.org/mayoral-transition-advisory-team https://fox4kc.com/business/press-releases/ein-presswire/616380298/healthcare-advocate-former-ca-state-assemblymember-mary-hayashi-joins-los-angeles-mayor-karen-basss-transition-team/ I am writing to request that this new role be added to the "Early Life and Career" section. Wikipedia Biographies of Living Persons policy allows me to edit the page but I will wait to hear from others about how best to proceed. In gratitude, Mary Hayashi Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Help#:~:text=Biographical material about living people,-sourced, or otherwise inappropriate. Request to add sources & update the legal paragraph[edit]

[2] Hello. I am Mary Hayashi, the subject of this page. I respectfully request that we either remove the legal issues section or update it to include the "Order for Dismissal" issued on March 5, 2015. Unfortunately, mainstream media never reported the dismissal order issued by the San Francisco County Superior Court. I can provide the court documentation if you would like. Also, in response to the message on my page for sources and verification, I have included a link to my legislative accomplishments and awards below for you. http://maryhayashi.org/awards-honors/ I would greatly appreciate it if someone could add the legislative highlights to the California State Assembly section. I appreciate your consideration. Humphrey444 (talk) 01:10, 16 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to guess that the dismissal order is the routine wrap-up of a successful probation, and doesn't change the facts of the no-contest plea and sentence as reported in the article. In any event, if it's not covered by secondary sources we can't use it -- and to be honest, the fact that there are no secondary sources is probably due to what I just said a moment ago. I have made other requests for edits and additions to my page per Wikipedia policy for biographies of living persons Wikipedia: Biographies of living persons#:~:text=This page in a nutshell, and avoidance of original research) - would you mind responding to the other questions? Thank you for acknowledging that the mainstream media failed to report the dismissal of this case. I have attached the California Senate Bill 731 for your reference - https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=202120220SB731. Effective July of 2023, California became the first state to allow almost all old convictions on a person’s criminal record to be permanently sealed. I think this "legal" paragraph potentially violates the purpose of this bill, which is supposed to give individuals the tools to turn the page on their past and an opportunity to build a new life without the stigma and discrimination they experience. I hope you will reconsider my request with this further information. I appreciate you taking the time to review this post. Humphrey444 (talk) 16:00, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
