Palangabad District (Persian: بخش پلنگاباد) is in Eshtehard County, Alborz province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Palangabad.[3]

In August 2010, Karaj County, Nazarabad County, and Savojbolagh County were separated from Tehran province in the establishment of Alborz province.[4]

In June 2012, Eshtehard District was separated from Karaj County in the establishment of Eshtehard County, which was divided into two districts of two rural districts each, with Eshtehard as its capital and only city at the time.[3]

At the National Census in 2016, the population of Palangabad District was 2,625 in 819 households.[2]

After the census, the village of Palangabad was elevated to the status of a city.[5]
