English: A memorial in Tahrir Square made by the demonstrators in honor of those who died during the Egyptian Revoluion of 2011, regarded as shuhada' شهداء – "martyrs" – in Egyptian parlance. The captions in the pictures attribute most of the deaths to police violence one way or another.

"Sally Zahran – intercepted by baltageya – thugs or plainclothes police – who beat her to death on her way to Tahrir Square."
"Mohamed Yassin – a graduate of the Faculty of Sciences, Cairo University. Married and father of a daughter five months old. Killed by gunfire in front of the Ministry of Interior, January 29."
