What breed is Onslow's dog ?

Irish Wolfhound resting

In Keeping Up Appearances. Pic: [1] (scroll down). An Irish Wolfhound maybe ? I'd like to add this to the article(s), if we can determine the breed. Also, Onslow refers to the dog as female. Is this dog actually female (if we can tell from the head alone) ? StuRat (talk) 18:05, 23 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This item (which looks a guess) says Scottish deerhound.[2]Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 02:31, 24 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
StuRat Your searches probably have come up as empty as mine; since the same question has been raised before without any conclusive answer. However, I tend to agree with your guess that it must be an Irish Wolfhound, since regardless the search images that comes up for the breed, the point of the dog in the series was that it appear to be disheveled and unkempt. That being said, I really do not think one can definitively say the breed without a reliable source, unfortunately. Maineartists (talk) 03:34, 24 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so far. Anyone else ? StuRat (talk) 16:20, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly a crossbreed, such as a lurcher of some sort, or a mongrel? --Jayron32 16:53, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like it could be a Portuguese Sheepdog or a Catalan Sheepdog to me. Certainly the face and facial hair remind me more of some kind of sheepdog. But given the fact that it belongs to Onslow, it's probably a mongrel which was sold as some exotic breed! --TammyMoet (talk) 12:26, 27 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Batgirl movie rumors

I saw some rumors on the Internet. They were about a Batgirl motion picture in the works. They also said Joss Whedon would direct. If those rumors are true, are there auditions to play the title role? Why couldn't a woman direct?2604:2000:7113:9D00:E489:B375:36EB:1AC5 (talk) 10:10, 24 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hardly a rumour - here is a perfectly reliable news report about it - [3]. As far as I can tell, the only reason a woman can't direct it is that a man has already been contracted to do it. Wymspen (talk) 12:30, 24 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Eskrima

Dear All

I have become interested into practicing a martial art in the recent year and was wondering whether or not someone of you could help me. There is a martial arts school close to where I live and I was wondering, whether or not these people are good fighters or not. They are members of a martial arts brand, which has put a tv report video on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTCXJ86sxrk), which I unfortunately cannot understand (my mother language is Italian, I do not understand German). Given that I am a total noob, I was wondering whether or not someone of you could tell me, if these guys are genuine Eskrimadores or not. Please give me some details, how I can recognize good Eskrima from bad Eskrima.

Thank you all very, very much.

With kind regards--178.199.157.99 (talk) 15:11, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Eskrima initially lacked the belt rankings common in other martial arts, but it has been recently added. So, I'd ask how many black belts they have as instructors. If they have none, they probably aren't very good. StuRat (talk) 16:25, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
There are instructor certification bodies for the sport. See Here for example. They would likely be the way that genuine Eskrima instructors are sorted out from the unqualified. --Jayron32 16:47, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Formula One grid

When was the most recent Formula One World Championship Grand Prix to have 3 grid slots on the same row? (78.19.101.103 (talk) 22:17, 25 October 2017 (UTC))[reply]

Wikipedia has an article titled List of Formula One Grands Prix from which you can start your research. Following links from that article to articles about individual races will help you to find your answer. --Jayron32 22:47, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
To narrow your search, this article [4] says the configuration was used until the "early 1970s". --Xuxl (talk) 15:43, 26 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
According to History of Formula One regulations the requirement for two slots per row on the grid came into force for the 1974 season - so presumably 1973 would have been the last with three in a row as a possibility. However, looking a photos from that year, they seem to have preferred a staggered arrangement: two in the front row, then two in the next row but not behind the ones in the front row - it almost looks like four lines of cars, but only two on each row [5] Wymspen (talk) 18:33, 26 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

MLB replay review

In Major League Baseball, what is the average number of times per game that a call is reversed upon video review? Loraof (talk) 03:31, 29 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The Denver Post surveyed 1300 video recalls. There were 643 reversals which worked out as 49.2%. It depends on which umpire is calling the games with some umpires having high levels of call reversals and some having low rates with the reversal rate varying between 92% and 23%. (Denver Post) Capitalistroadster (talk) 03:34, 29 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The answer to the OP's question is not quite the answer you gave, although it might be what they're really asking. The article indicates that the total reviews for 2015 were about 1,300. That's only about half of the total games played. Every team but two played 162 games in 2015, the remaining two played 161. That's 2,429 sets of games, if my arithmetic is correct. That would mean that about 53 percent of the games had a replay. If 49 percent of calls were overturned, that would mean that about 25 percent of the games had a replay overturned. In short, the literal answer to the OP's question is about once very four games, or .25 per game. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 05:12, 29 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
