Vicky Sylvester Mnguember (born 9 December 1960) is a Nigerian academic and fiction writer who is a Professor of Literature at the University of Abuja. She is known for literary criticism and gender studies.[1] A native of Adikpo, Kwande in Benue State, Mnguember was raised in Gboko and was among the 2024 judges of the Children's Fiction Prize for the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Literature Prize.[2] She is also a member of the Nigerian Academy of Letters.

Early Life and education

Mnguember grew up in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria, where she completed her high school and proceeded to the University of Jos. Afterwards graduated with a B.A. in English. Mnguember did her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at Ibadan before settling as a journalist for three years. She further obtained a degree in literature from Bayero University Kano in Kano State, and later, a Ph.D in African literature in Jos.

Mnguember was a serial writer who has written and edited several academic works, fiction and non-fictions including novels, biographies, poetry, and book collections.
