Meatpuppet?

Bouncehoper: What the crap is a meatpuppet?

Baegis: A marionette that subsists on a diet solely of meat and its derivatives.

Bouncehoper: ...How is that different than a sockpuppet? (also, makes me hungry....)

Baegis: Sockpuppets, of course, eat cotton products, which are severely lacking in nutrition and deliciousness.

Bouncehoper: How....strange....lol. thanks!

Hwanbyeokdang and image permission

Dear Caspian Blue, I have tried to download a larger image from the same place and person and made a bit of a mess with licensing but I think it worked. It looks the same but seems a bigger file size.

There was a nicer picture on flikr called "Tradisionel koreaanse huisie" but the author didn't get back in touch. Anyway best wishes, (Msrasnw (talk) 23:20, 29 December 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Need advice

Hi Caspian, I'm asking for advice on what to do next now that the moving request for Wiman was unfairly closed.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Wei_Man#requested_move

I've gave my reasons clearly as to why the page should be moved, however the mediator dismissed my arguments as prejudiced. That is absolutely ridiculous; of course I'm going to be in support of one or the other, especially when I strongly believe that title is inappropriate. He was a Korean monarch for god sake (Wiman Joseon). He has virtually no ties with China other than he was from the turbulent Yan region (what is now presently China). What the title is implying is that Wiman Joseon was nothing more than a Chinese colonial regime which is FALSE. In fact, this is whole reasoning goes parallel with their other claims on Gojoseon and Goguryeo that their terriorty once encompassed the present Chinese land. They're deducing history by territorial ownership, which is pretty stupid and should not be supported by wikipedia. Kuebie (talk) 20:56, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, this argument should be addressed on the closing admin first, not me. Unfortunately, the anons seem like indef.blocked sockpupper, Emperor whatever name given the same writing style and interest and geolocation. Also, if you think the closing of the RM is premature, open a new RM at the talk page. Regards.--Caspian blue 21:04, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Kuebie (talk) 21:11, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Coincidence?
I'm 100% sure that this is the same anon that threw a hissyfit on the Jurchen dynasty and Kim Hambo articles (he refused to believe that the Jurchen leader was from Korea). The other time during the Koreans article, same person. Also, they all have this weird obsession with General Tiger (talk · contribs) and their motives reflect that of a particular user who was very big on censoring and spouting nationalistic nonsense on non-active Korean editors' pages http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/RestoreTheEmpireSociety. That dude has a whole slew of accounts. Kuebie (talk) 06:09, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Since you're so certain, you can request a file for checkuser on the block evading troll to Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/User:Sea888, not as deferring the matter to me. As you know, I was harassed by him "several times" for my filing (ANI, SSP and RFCUs), so I do not want to undergo the same fiasco with him. Or you can simply ask Checkuser, Luna Santin to User talk:Luna_Santin#further RFCU who looked at the previous RFCU case on him. --Caspian blue 19:07, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I see. It's all right, I just wanted to know what you thought. Kuebie (talk) 19:19, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kofun Period

The archaeological record, and ancient Chinese sources, indicate that the various tribes and chiefdoms of Japan did not begin to coalesce into states until 300

Empress Myeongseong

I'm glad Buku agreed to stop engaging in original research but my recent edits on this article didn't have anything to do with primary sources.Melonbarmonster2 (talk) 21:56, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I belatedly saw your last revert in the Korea under Japanese rule article. Leaving the one primary reference is fine. I did change the "empress myeonseong/queen min" edits.Melonbarmonster2 (talk) 22:07, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Happy New Year!

Dear Caspian blue,

Wishing you a happy new year, and very best wishes for 2009. Whether we were friends or not in the past year, I hope 2009 will be better for us both.

Kind regards,

Thank you.--Caspian blue 21:14, 1 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Caspian blue. I have now verified it at DYK, as I feel it is comprehensive enough to be genuinely considered Start-class. Putting the rejection symbol on it previously was just a procedural thing which I did because no articles marked as Stub can be on DYK (as described here). DYK for Hwanbyeokdang

Updated DYK query On 3 January, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Hwanbyeokdang, which you recently nominated. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

3R request

Hello, I just want you to know I am not doing this to get back at melonbarblaster but because of his behavior: His constant reinstatement of the tags is a violation of the 3R policy, his refusal to engage in mediation, accept compromise and refusal to consider the position of others is disruptive editing. All of this amounts to edit warring which is wrong.

It is not about his position, it is about his behavior in putting his position forward.

--Jeremy ( Blah blah...) 01:47, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Again, it is not his position on the inclusion of the information, it is his behavior that is problematic. I truely do not care about what he thinks, I just want him to act civilly.
I posted the notice on the talk page of the article as he appears to respond to it fairly quickly. --Jeremy ( Blah blah...) 02:58, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, the 3R board is an ANI board that is specifically for this type of issue. If I raised the issue on the regular ANI board, they would have recommended to take it to the specialized board it is now at. --Jeremy ( Blah blah...) 03:17, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Request for move of a RFCU file to an actual sockpupper's name

No you were right asking for help because it's tricky ;). I moved the case to Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Julius Ceasarus From Primus and updated the archives to reflect that and remove the 2 users from the log. Sorry for not spotting it when I archived, there was a huge backlog at that time :/. I'd keep the redirect on Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/User:Sea888 for other pages link there. -- lucasbfr talk 10:57, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Korean poster image

Hello, I uploaded poster image for Touch-Me-Not (film) but it is low resolution image and incomplete image. Do you know how to get a better poster image from http://www.kmdb.or.kr/eng/md_basic.asp?nation=K&p_dataid=00309 ? There are also other low resolution images at commons. Thank you for your help. --Snek01 (talk) 23:54, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WP:FILMS Questionnaire

As a member of WikiProject Films, you are invited to take part in the project's first questionnaire. It is intended to gauge your participation and views on the project. At the conclusion of the questionnaire, the project's coordinators will use the gathered feedback to find new ways to improve the project and reach out to potential members. The results of the questionnaire will be published in next month's newsletter. If you know of any editors who have edited film articles in the past, please invite them to take part in the questionnaire. Please stop by and take a few minutes to answer the questions so that we can continue to improve our project. Happy editing!

In response to your question "Then where is the correct place for our discussion among these; WT:KOREA, Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (Korean), Talk:Sin Chang-won, you or my talk page?--Caspian blue 03:57, 10 January 2009 (UTC)" : you can discuss the naming conventions at Wikipedia_talk:Naming_conventions_(Korean), changes to the article at Talk:Sin Chang-won (or just edit the article directly), and the hook at Template_talk:Did_you_know. Thanks. --Amble (talk) 04:03, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please read this section: Wikipedia_talk:Naming_conventions_(Korean)#Last_names. Visviva initially proposed having Shin for 신, but it was decided to use standard Revised romanization, Sin, and keep only Kim, Pak, and Yi / Lee as exceptions. --Amble (talk) 04:30, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK, let's keep it to Kim, Pak and Yi, with standardized romanization for the others (including Choe). -- Visviva 06:45, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
This decision is reflected in the actual naming convention, which limits the exceptions to Kim, Pak, and Yi (later changed to Lee). --Amble (talk) 04:35, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Casanova, Prison Break

I haven't heard of those connections before. If you can find some sources, that would be very interesting. But perhaps we can just leave the DYK as it is, to keep it simple. --Amble (talk) 01:45, 11 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

User:Ziggymaster

User:Ziggymaster has been reverting the proposals on the South Korea talk page without any accompanying edit summaries or notes. Now that protection is gone, he has also recommenced the adding of wiki-link after wiki-link. I'm going to politely ask him to talk on the Talk page for the article, but given the nature of his (brand new) account as well as notices on his talk page (already, after only one month) for POV-pushing, I have a sinking feeling he's not going to listen to reason... Proposal

Hi Caspian blue, I wonder if you would be interested in working together to bring an article up to WP:Good article status? You have been a prolific author of articles on Korean topics, so I thought that perhaps you'd like to choose one and try for GA review. I haven't written nearly as many articles, but I can be a good researcher and editor, and I would like to try. Please let me know if you're interested. Thanks. --Amble (talk) 18:35, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

My interests are pretty broad - the article I'm putting together right now is about the Gun Court in Jamaica. I don't have any expertise in this topic, but I enjoy reading up and learning something as I go. I think it would be great to worn on Goryeo celadon or another new article together. Since you are more knowledgeable about Korean culture, I would be happy to let you choose the topic. I can help with editing, some of the writing, and finding English-language sources. It would be a learning experience to get feedback from the good article reviewer, and that's my main goal for the exercise.
If you prefer not to work on an article together, I could try to work on one of the articles you've already written and submit it for good article review. I think a lot of your articles have the potential to make it, including the Ilmin Museum of Art. Either way is fine with me.
Thanks. --Amble (talk) 01:32, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gachon

Apology accepted :) - BTW, how is the new name (with the new syllable) transcribed in Korean? I'm not sure where the new syllable would fit... WhisperToMe (talk) 15:48, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Ah, okay! What I meant was: is it in McCune-Reischauer and/or 2000 Revised romanization? WhisperToMe (talk) 16:07, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Caspian bluefor voting in my successfully closed RfA! I'm glad that you trust me. Ping me if you need anything. I'm glad I'm one of the "decent" admins on Commons! Best regards, --Kanonkas :  Talk  20:06, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
