Me! Taken by User:Almonroth.

My name is Sarah Stierch.

I'm the US OpenGLAM Coordinator for the Open Knowledge Foundation. I am also the Wikipedian in Residence at the World Digital Library. I have also served as Wikipedian in Residence at the Smithsonian Institution Archives and Archives of American Art.

I am deeply committed to the concept of open culture and free knowledge. I believe that the concept of open culture is imperative to meeting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights article 27.1: " Everyone has the right freely to participate in the cultural life of the community, to enjoy the arts and to share in scientific advancement and its benefits."

I live in Oakland. I have my Masters of Arts in museum studies from George Washington University and my bachelor's in Native American Studies. My background is in curatorial practice focusing on fine art and history. I used to be a make-up artist and a DJ, too!

This user is a host at the Teahouse.

I am honored to received some awards from my fellow Wikipedians, you can see them here.

Recent lists

I have specific interests in women's and artist biographies, towns I'll never visit, wineries, restaurants, places I do like to visit, and other general subjects. I tend to start at the beginning of the alphabet - there are a lot of A's in my work.

So what else do I do when I'm not volunteering on Wikipedia?

Birding, dancing, shouting, whispering, eating, drinking, traveling, exploring, wondering, questioning, picking up rocks and seeing what is underneath them....
