There have now been three attempts to remove the material on Rory McGrath's caution for Assault in 2013. I would have thought this was certainly Notable under Wikipedia rules and that such removal should be discussed on the Talk page first. I am also aware that correct procedure in these circumstances is to avoid getting into an edit war, and to escalate in Wikipedia instead. I'm just not sure what the correct way to do the latter is. Can someone please advise? Thanks, [[User:Peteinterpol|Peteinterpol]] ([[User talk:Peteinterpol|talk]]) 11:20, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

Untitled

The thing about the QI score was that he received a bonus of 100 points for getting Calcium as the most common metal in the human body. This 100 point bonus has not normally been part of the game and so really the score he received cannot be compared to those received in previous episodes. There was a 100 point bonus in the following episode (won by Alexander Armstrong) Jooler 21:07, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

...I thought he got it for identifying the domesticated chicken as the world's most common bird? Kinitawowi 01:21, 23 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Well, a special 'Genius' animation went off when he got the question on calcium... also, it's kind of silly to note point totals on any of BBC's comic quizes, they're Quite Irrelevant. Bz2 21:31, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Not to mention the fact that McGrath almost always wins cos he has a sponge like memory. And who is Dynamo Donnelly? Andymarczak 11:43, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I am.

Bizarre claim that a TV production company is one of the 50 funniest acts in British comedy

The article contained the following:

He is cofounder, with Denise O'Donoghue and Jimmy Mulville, of the independent British TV production company Hat Trick Productions. In 2003, they were listed in The Observer as one of the 50 funniest acts in British comedy.

and elsewhere in the article:

He was a founder of Hat Trick Productions but left in 1992.

Leaving aside the tautology, I don't understand the last sentence of the first quote. Are we really saying that a TV production company was listed as one of the 50 funniest acts in British comedy!. And even if such a bizarre thing was to happen, what relevance is this to an article on a person who left that TV production company nearly 10 years earlier?.

In the absence of any other information, no citations, and the current text failing the common sense test, I will drop that sentence from the article. And merge the the two quotes. -- Chris j wood 19:18, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It took 30 secs to check online that the Observer list referred to Jimmy Mulville and Denise O'Donohughue in person, not to Hat Trick. No reason to leave the reference in. 65.32.236.156 (talk) 13:22, 26 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Birthday

According to his biography at the Grumpy Old Men site [1], he was born March 3rd. It seems IMDB is the main source for the 17th March date - this info was infact sourced by myself in 2002 after I saw it in the 1999 book "TV Times Who's Who On Television", a publication I later discovered (much like IMDB itself) to be riddled with errors and inconsistencies (the book said Jake Wood was born in 1953). Marital status

Does anyone know if he is married? He flirts with the ladies outrageously on Three Men in A(nother) Boat. Pelago (talk) 15:20, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Relationship to Tom McGrath, head of Channel Five?

Is Rory related to Tom McGrath, head of Channel Five? Andrew Oakley (talk) 09:58, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No. See the page for Tom McGrath (media executive) where there is no overlap at all in biographical history. Peteinterpol (talk) 05:49, 29 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Degree

The article says he got a lower second-class (2:2). In QI, episode C06, he says he got a third-class. Change?

Cornish

The article cited in support of the statement that he is English does not say this, but it does confirm he was born and brought up in Cornwall. I plan to change this, accordingly, to Cornish in a few days, but waiting to see if there are any opposing views with rationale. 80.44.129.43 (talk) 19:34, 12 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:UKNATIONALS, his nationality is British. If anyone can find any reliably sourced evidence that he self-identifies as either English or Cornish, we can change it again. Ghmyrtle (talk) 20:07, 12 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
