Dean Longergan is a former rugby league player and current events promoter.
Playing Career
Dean represented the New Zealand Kiwis from 1986 to 1991 and also represented Auckland. He played for the City Newton Dragons in the Auckland Rugby League competition and the Canberra Raiders in the NSWRL Premiership.[1]
Warriors
Dean was a board member of the Auckland Warriors from 1996 until 1997.[1]
In 1999 Dean was part of a consortium that bought the Warriors from the struggling Auckland Rugby League. Other members included Graeme Lowe and majority shareholder the Tainui tribe. The club went bankrupt at the end of the 2000 season and sold most of its assets to Eric Watson's New Zealand Warriors.
Personal Life
Dean was educated at Massey High School and currently is part of the breakfast show on BSport radio. He is also a columnist for the New Zealand Herald.[2]
He is also the owner of Dean Lonergan Events Ltd and the promoter of the Fight for Life charity boxing events.[3]
