The 1939 Atlantic hurricane season was an ongoing event in the annual cycle of tropical cyclone formation. It officially began on June 1, 1939 and ended on November 30, 1939.

The 1939 season was very inactive, with only 5 Tropical Storms, 2 of which became hurricanes, and one became a major hurricane. One storm of note includes a major hurricane passing just to the east of Bermuda. On October 16th a major hurricane brought heavy winds and rain to the island. Other than that, a Tropical Storm hit near Mobile, Alabama in June, a hurricane hit south of Vero Beach, Florida, and a Tropical Storm hit Louisiana in June, with a tropical storm hitting Cuba. The lack of inactivity is likely due to lack of knowledge of storms out in the open ocean. This may change with the ongoing re-analysis of the Hurricane Database.
