Adjust image sizes  Done

Each of the country pages listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Lists of basic topics#Basic topics lists for countries display a flag and a coat of arms side-by-side as a pair.

The sizes of the images in each pair need to be adjusted so that their heights match. The countries that still need this done for are the J's through the S's.

Question  Done

Can AWB be prevented from editing certain articles? I saw the article SoundSpel, and in the given examples, where the spellings are simplified in the SoundSpel manner, I thought that AWB might try to correct something that shouldn't be corrected. Thanks, SpencerT♦C 19:18, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

I need a notice removed from a set of pages  Done

The Village Pump notice at the top of the country lists located at Wikipedia:WikiProject Lists of basic topics#Basic topics lists for countries needs to be removed. Only the drafts in the Wikipedia namespace have the notices.

I don't currently have access to a machine I can run applications on, so I'd really appreciate your help.

Please drop me a note on my talk page if you take this task on.

Thank you.

Move an item on a set of pages  Done

On the country lists located at Wikipedia:WikiProject Lists of basic topics#Basic topics lists for countries, the link "Extreme points of x" (where "x" is the country's name) needs to be moved to the end of the "Location:" item above it in the same section (use two asterisks for the indent). "Extreme points" refers to the country's location after all, and I didn't catch this when I created the lists. This only needs to be done on the drafts in the Wikipedia namespace (not the pages in article space).

Please drop me a note on my talk page if you take this task on.

Thank you.

Cities and towns in Quebec  Done

Category:Cities in QuebecCategory:Cities and towns in Quebec. I've already moved all the subcategories, but since there's 191 of them and my eyes are glazing over, could somebody with access to AWB do a quick move run on the articles? Thanks. Bearcat (talk) 20:53, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Is that an exhaustive list or not? Reedy 15:22, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
I very much doubt it; I found these using search (for angeltowns.com/town within google). Kittybrewster 20:21, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
I am taking care of these now... Where should http://www.angeltowns.com/town/peerage/02PrivyCouncils--UK.htm be redirected to? Found it on Paddy Ashdown ThaddeusB (talk) 00:03, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
Ok, I got all mainspace pages found by either a Wikipedia or Google search for "angeltowns.com/town". I also got the peerage project page and ignored user pages. Fortunately, the new server is not case sensitive so it wasn't too bad. My substitutions:
  • angeltowns.com/town/peerage/?common -> leighrayment.com/commons/?common
  • angeltowns.com/town/peerage/peers -> leighrayment.com/peers/peers
  • angeltowns.com/town/peerage/baronets -> leighrayment.com/baronetage/baronets
  • angeltowns.com/town/peerage/02PrivyCouncils--Ireland.htm -> leighrayment.com/pcouncil/pcouncilI.htm
  • angeltowns.com/town/peerage/02peerage-records.htm -> leighrayment.com/reppeers/peerrecords.htm
  • angeltowns.com/town/peerage/Baronetage.htm -> leighrayment.com/Baronetage.htm
"http://www.angeltowns.com/town/peerage/02PrivyCouncils--UK.htm" occurs 3 times, but not appear to have a direct equivalent, so you'll need to edit it manually. These pages are Paddy Ashdown, Sir William Rae, 3rd Baronet, & Robert Sutton (diplomat). --ThaddeusB (talk) 00:56, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
Well done. Many thanks. Kittybrewster 08:55, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

How do I do changes in talk page based on content in the article page?

I do this. I load Category:Place of birth missing (consisting only of talk pages) and then I want to change this category with Category:Place of birth missing (living people) if Category:Living people exists in the article's page. -- Magioladitis (talk) 13:48, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Right click in the box with your list of pages. Then click "convert from talk pages." This should populate the list with the appropriate article pages. You can click "convert to talk pages" later if you need the list to show the talk pages again. Hope this helps. --Andrew Kelly (talk) 03:33, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Is this page active? Big project

  • Wikipedia 0.7 includes over 30,000 articles (after removing duplicates). I've already AWB-spell-checked a couple thousand 5152. Anyone wanna help? I have lists; we can split 'em... Ling.Nut (talkWP:3IAR) 23:55, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

 Done Search/Replace

Here's a simple one:

On all the pages listed at User:The Transhumanist/Country list, please change:

To:

(use the wikicode itself for the search/replace)

Be sure to turn off all automatic fixes (wikification, etc.) There's some non-wikified stuff in these that we need in them for now. Please make sure AWB does the search/replace only and nothing else.

Thank you.

 Done: A few pages were skipped, see here for more info. --AK AWB (talk) 05:41, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
Thank you! That helps a lot. (most of the skipped pages already had it in there). Cheers. The Transhumanist 18:53, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

Typo  Done

Hi, there are about 8,000 pages that contain the phrase "an European" [4], which needs to be changed to "a European". This error was presumably caused by non-native English speakers using the pronunciations of their own language. Would anyone be willing to have a go? --Lo2u (T • C) 19:24, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

Typo rule added. I'll have a run through, though a Wikipedia mainspace search gives 191 results. Rjwilmsi 19:58, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I do seem to have have rather overstated the problem. Anyway, thanks a lot. --Lo2u (T • C) 15:36, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
 Done. I ran through that google search you did with the Find & Replace set to find "an european" & replace it with "a european." Most of the results didn't contain that text, and most of those that did were in namespaces other than the mainspace which I left alone. I fixed these articles:
I think this, combined with the addition to the typo-fixing function, should mostly take care of the problem in the Mainspace. If you have any other tedious typos you'd like fixed, I'd be happy to help. Robert Skyhawk So sue me! (You'll lose) 01:07, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
