Think about it shortfilm[edit]

Hi. Sorry, but failing NFILM isn't a valid reason for speedy deletion. The only areas that can be deleted for lack of indicated significance (not notability...) are people, organisations, named animals, web content and organised events (under A7), or recordings that are not notable where the performer does not have an article here (A9). Everything else had to go to prod or AfD (where notability rather than mere significance is taken into account. I agree that the film is not notable, but it'll have to go the seven days (and then the AfD when someone removes the prod, probably). Peridon (talk) 18:13, 13 September 2016 (UTC)

Hello Peridon, That's fine I knew it will happen lol was just trying to give a try if it can happen in this way but yeah the film is not notable not even close to WP:NFILM so if someone removes the prod without providing any reliable source I will take it AfD for sure. Cheers – GSS (talk) 07:22, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

Hello Anoptimistix, The page has some issue which needs to be fixed, no doubt you cited reliable sources (e.g. zeenews.india.com) but the source remain self-published because the subject of the article works for Zee News so it need additional Third-party sources to support notability. You can find more sources about Rohit Sardana by clicking on any link below (e.g. news) but please avoid citing sources from zeenews.india.com or its parent website(s) also the article must be written from a neutral point of view please read WP:NPOV to learn more.

Hi Suswaralakshmi, Yes I moved the article from S.Aishwarya to S. Aishwarya (without leaving redirect) as per WP:AT. Is there any reason you want me to change it back? GSS (talk) 09:28, 21 September 2016 (UTC)
This is regarding my page S.Aishwarya which you had changed to S. Aishwarya. Could you please change it back to S.Aishwarya because that is the name of the person and it would be really helpful if you could kindly change it back from S. Aishwarya to S.Aishwarya. people would generally search as S.Aishwarya and not S. Aishwarya Thanks Regards, SS — Preceding unsigned comment added by Suswaralakshmi (talk • contribs) 09:58, 21 September 2016 (UTC)

About the Notability of Junkai Wang[edit]

Hi GSS,

Sorry that I'm not familiar with the rules and broke your redirect. I have changed the draft of Junkai Wang for several times but still could not meet the request of notability, could you please kindly tell me which part of my draft have problems? or what kind of materials do I need to add in?

Thanks. Look forward to your reply.

Regards,Etcetera921 (talk) 16:00, 7 October 2016 (UTC)

@Etcetera921: As I mentioned on Yobot talk page the article fails to pass WP:MUSICBIO so you need to read criteria for musicians at WP:MUSICBIO to know what kind of improvements you nee to make at Draft:Junkai Wang and once again please do not break the redirect again. Template message added to David Joy (author) wiki[edit]

Responding to message sent, "It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from David Joy (author). When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. The template message regarding "listed sources may not be reliable" was removed from the page because all cited sources link directly to primary documentation. The citations for book publications are direct references to the publishing houses (i.e. Putnam Books of Penguin Random House, and Blair Publishing), the citations for awards and honors are direct references to published news articles and/or press releases from the organization responsible for the award or honor, the citations for stories and essays are direct links to the publications where the story or essay appears, the citations for the interviews and television appearances are also direct links to the publications where the interviews appear, and any and all other documentation is cited by information obtained from the author's official site. All of these references adhere to what is deemed a reliable source by "Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources" criteria (i.e. the definition of "published" and "news organizations" in regards to "statements of fact."). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.176.135.212 (talk) 14:39, 12 October 2016 (UTC)

24.176.135.212, There is a list of unreliable user-generated sources, which are prohibited as per WP:USERGENERATED. e.g. asheville.com, blog.largeheartedboy.com, blogspot.com and more so please concentrate on fixing the issue by replacing unreliable sources with reliable sources rather than removing the maintenance tag over and over again. Thank you – GSS (talk) 15:01, 12 October 2016 (UTC)
The "blog.largeheartedboy.com" citation is a direct link to a reputable and incredibly well known literature and culture blog, Largehearted Boy, with thousands of worldwide followers and the citation provided is a direct link to an interview with David Joy (author). The "asheville.com" citation has been corrected with a citation to the Citizen-Times newspaper article. Blocking policy[edit]

Conversation with Sandeep Gill at SPI

Comments by other users

Accused parties may also comment/discuss in this section below. See Defending yourself against claims.

  • This might be a case of mere suspection. This user has contributed to Punjabi Wikipedia as well unlike the other user who has only made some contribution to English Wikipedia only. The block should be lifted so he can keep contributing.--Satdeep Gill (talk • contribs 08:06, 13 October 2016 (UTC)
  • @SpacemanSpiff and Bbb23: It must be a case of meat puppetry or undisclosed paid editing because this user repeated the same trick (adding surname within brackets) which earlier used by other socks on multiple pages and I don't think any normal new user do that on the particular name which already has a deletion log. GSS (talk) 14:18, 13 October 2016 (UTC)
Samdeepsinghone was registered on Oct 6, 2016 at Punjabi Wikipedia and made only 8 edits so far (verify). GSS (talk) 14:41, 13 October 2016 (UTC)
Yes, this is a new user on Wikipedia itself but I just wanted to point out that there is a difference in the activity of this user. A normal new user would not know the gravity of creating an article that has already been deleted. Can someone please check the unblock request from the user and ask for more clarification if required ? --Satdeep Gill (talk • contribs 02:44, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
@Satdeep Gill: Don't you think its really unusual a new user repeat the same thing that master and other socks has done. This user added surname in brackets and I don't think any new user do that rather than naming it simple. Am also not getting why you are very much interested in his/her unblock I never saw you doing this before on any SPI, earlier you said this user is active on Punjabi Wikipedia where s/he only made few edits. GSS (talk) 03:37, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
@GSS-1987: I am requesting for unblock because the article has been restored and that we can let the user contest the deletion of the article. I just said that this user has contributed to Punjabi Wikipedia which makes the activity different from other editors. Although it is unusual but we should also not rule out that the use of brackets might just be coincidental. This is causing harm to Wikipedia as other articles created by the user are also up for speedy deletion. --Satdeep Gill (talk • contribs 04:07, 16 October 2016 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── @Satdeep Gill: Well likewise the master AwardPunjabi has contributed to Wikinews which can not make him unrelated/different to other socks. There are some more coincident you may look. Samdeepsinghone repeated the same contents at Giddarbaha which earlier made by Harwy134 and other socks see diff here and here. Samdeepsinghone also repeated the same behaviour Irregular punctuation see here by Samdeepsinghone and here here and here by others. GSS (talk) 04:36, 16 October 2016 (UTC)

Okay. There are some similarities here. I would like to see what the user has to say about this.--Satdeep Gill (talk • contribs 12:43, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
Sure take your time and let's see if s/he tell the truth. GSS (talk) 13:36, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
Found some more behavioral evidences, Samdeepsinghone repeated the same thing which Rahul0500 did at the time of his block as when Bbb23 posted block message on Rahul0500 talk page he then requested unblock within the same template rather than adding the {{unblock}} template at the bottom of his talk page and Samdeepsinghone also did the same mistake (See diff here and here) also the use of very is common in both users (e.g. user Rahul0500 said from this very moment and Samdeepsinghone said At that very time see here and here). GSS (talk) 18:47, 16 October 2016 (UTC)

Tokyogirl79 Yeah as per the behavior of this editor seems more related to the group and last night I realize one more thing about Irregular punctuation which Samdeepsinghone denied on his talk page by saying I cannot distinguish a irregular punctuation mark as it was a mistake made by me but I saw his Facebook profile and almost on every post he added Irregular punctuation which are more related to the group Rahul0500 (e.g. this post). GSS (talk) 05:37, 17 October 2016 (UTC)

I understand now that there is a lot of behavioral evidence in this case but I would just like to ask that how can a user contribute if he has been wrongly blocked ? I mean what is the enwiki policy on this ? And do we insist that users once blocked must not be able to contribute ever ? --Satdeep Gill (talk • contribs 06:34, 17 October 2016 (UTC)
@Satdeep Gill: If a user been blocked they can request unblock by simply adding {{unblock|reason here}} at their talk page along with a explanation please read Wikipedia:What to do if you are blocked and WP:BANHAMMER. You can also read Defending yourself against claims at SPI. If a user actually is guilty of sockpuppetry, and want to get a second chance at editing, they can follow these steps listed at WP:SOCKBLOCK but Sockpuppeteers aren't often unblocked—since they've acted dishonestly, it's hard to believe them—and the administrators certainly aren't going to unblock the sockpuppet account. Invitation from Wikipedia Asian Month 2016[edit]

Thanks for partipating Wikipedia Asian Month last year, and I hope you enjoy it. Last year, more than 7,000 articles contribute to Wikipedia in 43 languages in Wikipedia Asian Month, making us one of the largest event on Wikipedia. We will organize this event again in upcoming November, and would like to invite you join us again.

This year, we are lowering down the standards that you only need to create 4 (Four) articles to receive a postcard (new design), and articles only need to be more than 3,000 bytes and 300 words. We are also improving our postcard sending process, e.g. making the postcards right now, and collecting the address after the event ends without waiting other languges.

Wikipedians who create the most articles on each Wikipedia will be honored as "Wikipedia Asian Ambassadors". We will send you both digital copy, and a paper copy of the Ambassador certificate.

Thank you for considering! --AddisWang (talk)

John Gilbert[edit]

Hi, could you please redirect John Gilbert (scientist) to Non-stick surface. I don't know how to do it. His experiments using the fluorinated polymer as a surface coating for pots and pans helped usher in a revolution in non-stick cookware. But I don't think there enough sources for him to warrant a separate article. Thank you very much — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.238.110.55 (talk) 19:29, 26 October 2016 (UTC)

@128.238.110.55: Not done The article is currently up for speedy deletion because it was created by a sockpuppet (see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Mangoeater1000) in violation of the user's ban or block. GSS (talk) 05:31, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

Punjab villages[edit]

Hi there, great job creating all those articles on the Punjab villages! It's impressive that those are not mere 1-2 sentences stubs! Just one suggestion: if the article contains the category "Villages in X district", it should not contain the parent category "Villages in Punjab, India". Since "Vilages in X district" is a child category of "Villages in Punjab, India", the article is already included in the category tree. See WP:SUBCAT. Once again, thanks for all the new articles. utcursch | talk 03:35, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

New Page Review - newsletter[edit]

Hello GSS-1987,
Wikipedia New page reviewer.svg
Breaking the back of the backlog
We now have 462 New Page Reviewers! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog. Now it's time for action.
Mid July to 01 Oct 2016

If each reviewer does only 10 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
Let's get that over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.

Second set of eyes

Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work. Read about it at the new Monitoring the system section in the tutorial.

Getting the tools we need - 2016 WMF Wishlist Survey: Please vote

Tanjim Ashraful Haque Reply[edit]

Sorry but have I got my wires crossed? The deletion discussion ( Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tanjim Ashraful Haque ) shows it was speedied is this why you are saying it was not deleted via DD? Either way should it go to AfD again? Paste Let’s have a chat. 11:02, 7 December 2016 (UTC)

@Paste: The reason of the deletion was G11 (Unambiguous advertising or promotion) see deletion log. You can go with the AfD again or becasue it was an accident that you applied G4 you can try other speedy deletion criteria if you feel the article has notability issues. Speedy deletion declined: Dionisio Pinilla[edit]

Hello GSS-1987, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Dionisio Pinilla, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: known for his work on the Australian TV shows - is an assertion of importance sufficient to preclude A7. i have no opinion as to whether he would pass AFD - you'd need to do WP:Before to decide that. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. ϢereSpielChequers 19:37, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

WereSpielChequers, Thank you very much for your message here. I'm not sure if you saw the sources because all of the sources fails to verify the claim of his acting or musical career and I personally don't believe in usergenerated IMDb profiles even Google fails to show anything to support his role in any show as claimed in the article. His name was added in Tricky Business (UK TV series) and Packed to the Rafters by the creator of Dionisio Pinilla which are still unsourced (see here and here). GSS (talk) 06:06, 13 December 2016 (UTC)
Hi GSS, if you think its a hoax then that's a different CSD criteria. From the sounds of it you did enough for an AFD nomination of the page. Just because it doesn't meet the A7 criteria doesn't mean it would meet stricter standards such as notability. ϢereSpielChequers 12:20, 13 December 2016 (UTC)
WereSpielChequers Nah, can't blindly call it a hoax because it can be the case of an uncredited supporting cast which is very common and the available sources do support him as an artist but fail to establish the notability that's why I choose A7 rather than G3. Thank you – GSS (talk) 13:35, 13 December 2016 (UTC)
OK. If he's in the cast but you don't think he is sufficiently highly listed to be notable then I'd go the AFD route rather than A7. Sometimes that does mean using AFD when you are very very confident that it will be deleted. ϢereSpielChequers 17:01, 13 December 2016 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── WereSpielChequers, The claim of significance was not credible that's why A7 was there but anyways thanks for your tips and suggestions I will keep in my mind. I have nominated the article for deletion becasue I belive the subject is not yet ready to be on Wikipedia. Have a great day ahead. Thank you – GSS (talk) 18:05, 13 December 2016 (UTC)

Nomination of Rohit Sharma (actor) for deletion[edit]

Hi i have created an article on rohit sharma (actor) but the article have been put under nomination and discussion for deletion whether to keep it or no.. i have included all the reliable references rohit sharma has worked in channel v's show saddahaq and currently he is working balaji telefilms show Kasam tere pyaar ki as shekhar ...and his name is mentioned in kasam tere pyaar ki cast too in their wikipedia page...please help me out with this and please go through the page ..if there needs a correction let me know..he is playing a prominent character in the show article for the same have been linked to the page to.review it and help it pass as an article and stop it from getting deleted as it is a genuine and real article about him.there is already an article on rohit sharma who is famous cricketer ...hence i have made the article as rohit sharma (actor) i hope it was the right thing to do ..awaiting your response and feedback.thanks and here is the article Rohit Sharma (actor) Rockystar07 (talk) 20:08, 19 December 2016 (UTC)

Hello Rockystar07, I nominated the article because it fails to meet the requirement at WP:NACTOR and as per WP:TOOSOON the subject is not yet ready to have a stand alone article on Wikipedia. He has only played supporting roles in a couple of tv shows and I can not find any decent independent coverage about the actor in reliable sources. Thank you – GSS (talk) 07:12, 20 December 2016 (UTC)
Ok..but i was hoping it to stay there as he is playing negative lead in the show kasam tere pyaar ki... and now the page is gone..plz help me get it back and its ok if its on hold bcz of WP too soon... Rockystar07 (talk) 15:33, 29 December 2016 (UTC)
Rockystar07: The article was deleted becasue it fails to pass WP:NACTOR and WP:GNG so you need to wait till the subject meets the requirements at WP:NBIO. Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 17:00, 29 December 2016 (UTC)

Ok !!!! So please help me out and lemme know what references or what things should i link and submit in order to get the page back.Rockystar07 (talk) 19:55, 29 December 2016 (UTC)

Edit Conflict?[edit]

It appears that we had an edit conflict on Arimalam Google Boys Arimalam. It appears that we were bumping into each other in reviewing the page. I see that it has now been deleted, which is what we both had in mind. We just may have had different ideas as to whether it warranted a speedy or needed a PROD. I think that everything is all right. Robert McClenon (talk) 16:32, 22 December 2016 (UTC)

It also appears that the deletion criteria included G5, which is sockpuppetry. Yuck. Robert McClenon (talk) 16:34, 22 December 2016 (UTC)
Robert McClenon Yeah! seems like we both were on the same track but it ended up with G3 and G5 (see SPI). GSS (talk) 17:36, 22 December 2016 (UTC)
Thank you for filing the SPI. With crud articles, however, I think that we agree that it is not important how to get rid of them as long as they are gotten rid of. Robert McClenon (talk) 20:16, 22 December 2016 (UTC)

Unmark 'speedy page deletion of my page'[edit]

HI GSS,

Please unmark speedy page deletion of my page 'Jeet Gian (author). I have just created that page, and I am still putting content. Please do NOT delete it.

Thanks Pri D (talk) 15:43, 27 December 2016 (UTC)

Hello @Pri D: I moved your article without leaving redirect behind because the previous title (Jeet Gian (author)) was having unnecessary disambiguation as per WP:NCP which is currently nominated for speedy deletion (A10) because, it's duplicates an existing topic so please find you article at Jeet Gian. Thank you GSS (talk) 16:16, 27 December 2016 (UTC)
Hi @GSS So does that mean Jeet Gian is a my actual page and I should continue to edit Jeet Gian and i should NOT edit (Jeet Gian (author)) ? Also is Jeet Gian this page live and approved by you editors? Regards Thanks much Pri D (talk) 16:42, 27 December 2016 (UTC)
@Pri D: Yes, you are right. GSS (talk) 16:47, 27 December 2016 (UTC)

HI @GSS,

Thank you so much! and thank you so much for making my page live!

G2[edit]

Hi, GSS-1987, why did you tag Wikipedia:WikiProject Punjab/Tab header/Tab and Wikipedia:WikiProject Punjab/Tab header/Spacer for speedy deletion under the G2 criterion? They're not test pages, and honestly I'm not sure how one could even mistake them as such. Writ Keeper ♔ 17:13, 3 January 2017 (UTC)

Ditto with Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/Punjabi cinema task force/Participants; it's not a test page, and A10 certainly doesn't apply, since that's an article-space criterion only, and this page isn't in article space. What's the meaning of this? Writ Keeper ♔ 17:16, 3 January 2017 (UTC)

Writ Keeper: So what you suggest? shell I go with the MfD? as am not familiar with the speedy on such pages and I applied G2 because both pages includes incomplete coding. GSS (talk|c|em) 17:27, 3 January 2017 (UTC)
The first two aren't incomplete code, they're parts of a whole: those templates are transcluded onto Wikipedia:WikiProject_Punjab/Tab_header, where they form part of its styling code. Tab header is in turn used on Wikipedia:WikiProject Punjab. I don't see why they would need to be deleted at all. These are things you should check before tagging an article. The participants page is very obviously not a test page, though. Yes, if you want something deleted that's in the WP: space, and it doesn't actually fit any of the CSD criteria, you should send it to MFD; G2 isn't a catch-all criterion for any page you think should be deleted (and neither are any of the other criteria), and you shouldn't try to circumvent policy by trying to treat it like one. Writ Keeper ♔ 17:36, 3 January 2017 (UTC)
Writ Keeper: Oh and I thought it's an incomplete coding lol my bad, So if they're a part of a page then I don't think MfD is needed and as you have much more knowledge than me I request you please take a look at this discussion and share your opinion. Thank you for the tip and wish you a very Happy New Year. GSS (talk|c|em) 18:04, 3 January 2017 (UTC)
No problem, happy New Year's to you, too. Just take a little care with the CSD tags in the future; we admins sometimes delete without doing our own due diligence (I speak from personal experience :P ), so the more eyes on these kinds of things, the better. I'm one of Bish's many talk page stalkers, so I was already at least vaguely aware of that thread. I'll take a closer look presently Writ Keeper ♔ 18:11, 3 January 2017 (UTC)
Writ Keeper: Lol that's kinda secret but don't worry I won't disclose 😉 and yeah I don't do CSD in WP: space usually but if I do in future I'll take care of it. Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 04:48, 4 January 2017 (UTC)

Interesting user[edit]

Hello, GSS. I just noticed this new user, who is mainly creating/expanding articles of a particular family members & their companies, e.g. they created Chandrashekhar Agashe & Sarvatra Technologies. They are active since 12 December 2016. There was a similar user who got blocked for socking on 5 December 2016 – user Simbalillyoreo. They also used to create/expand articles of this particular family, e.g. they created Dnyaneshwar Agashe, Mandar Agashe, Ashutosh Agashe, Brihans Natural Products Ltd., Brihan Maharashtra Sugar Syndicate Ltd., etc. The other things – which you mentioned at Simbalillyoreo's SPI – like Editor Interaction & the use of Visual editor also show connection between the two. As you filed the SPI against the master, it will be easier for you to identify their sock's behaviour. So, please have a look at this new user. And file an SPI if they seem connected to you. BTW, I haven't really analysed their behaviour & I might be wrong here. Thanks. - NitinMlk (talk) 20:43, 8 January 2017 (UTC)

@NitinMlk: Thank you for bringing this to my attention, I have filled the SPI as I also found some other similarities between Seadonkey1999 and the master. GSS (talk|c|em) 04:53, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for taking care of this sock. Your efforts also helped in deleting some of their mess. BTW, this person has created a handful of non-notable articles, along with adding a lot of user-generated content here. And it will take quite a bit of time to remove their mess. - NitinMlk (talk) 18:50, 11 January 2017 (UTC)
@NitinMlk: If you believe the articles created by the master does not pass specific notability criteria you can nominate those articles for deletion or use Template:Inline cleanup tags to highlight unreliable, user-generated or other sources which fails to establish notability. Cheers – GSS (talk|c|em) 07:09, 12 January 2017 (UTC)
I am currently unable to spend much time here. But I will tag them in the future. BTW, thanks for all the help. - NitinMlk (talk) 19:13, 12 January 2017 (UTC)

Question re: Kim Murphy[edit]

Hi GSS-1987, as a new editor, I'm trying to fully understand the template you placed here.

It talks about "self-published" sources, but all of the sources are from either the Los Angeles Times or Pulitzer.org. Can you please explain how those are self-published sources? Thank you. The Kingfisher (talk) 23:00, 17 January 2017 (UTC)

The Kingfisher: It's because the subject works for the Los Angeles Times which is not valid to support notability please see WP:USESPS. Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 06:26, 18 January 2017 (UTC)
Okay, virtually all of the sources are now from sources other than the Los Angeles Times. I'll be removing the template. Thank you. The Kingfisher (talk) 06:41, 18 January 2017 (UTC)

BLAST RUSSIAN BAND[edit]

He had previously spent a number of years in the US playing in different bands . In states he met georgian musician Gia Iashvili they did few successful shows together and realised that it was great collaboration ! But unfortunately Nash had to return to Moscow because of family issues .While being in Moscow he decided to put the band together. Gia Iashvili also flew back and joined the band together with their old friend Alexandre "Khlap" Artchevski and the drummer Igor Meshkovsky . They decided to call the band BLAST. The unit came out very productive and within two month Nash Gia and Khlap completed their album "Pigs Can Fly" which was produced by talented producer from Manchester Mark Tolle At that time the Moscow club scene was booming and BLAST very quickly became the most popular indie band in the city. In 1998 band was picked up by the indie label "Apollo G Records" (Manchester, UK). They released their first album "Pigs Can Fly" and followed this with a UK club tour in 2000. In 2000 Gia and the drummer left the band and two musicians from Bulgaria Vlado Kostov and Valio blagoev ( drums & bass) joined BLAST. Few years later the band signed to Ghost Records UK and hit the studio recording the album F**K the industry with producer Graham Pilgrim. Ghost Records Musical Director Frank Perri and A&R manager Phillipe Palmer drew much attention to the Russian Rock Rebels and a place within the British music scene was forged. Regular tours of the UK and Europe have continued since that time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.91.210.97 (talk) 16:12, 20 January 2017 (UTC)

Adminship[edit]

Hi, have you ever thought about filing a request for adminship? I see a lot of Asian related articles turn up at CAT:CSD (in fact I'd say the majority are from subjects in that area) and really could do with someone more local keeping an eye on them. You seem to have a good track record at CSD and AfD, have touched AIV and SPI quite a bit, are on the OTRS response team, and wrote a lot of geography articles during Wikipedia Asian Month - in short, you seem to have done it all. There are two things upthread on this talk page that are just minor "dings" on your track record (ie: Dionisio Pinilla and Wikipedia:WikiProject Punjab/Tab header/Tab) but the former is more semantics, and the latter is an area of deletion many people don't go anywhere near. Obviously I will need to have a good and proper look at all your contributions carefully, but I seriously think you should give it a go. (Paging Samwalton9 who may also be interested). Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 17:13, 20 January 2017 (UTC)

Ritchie333: Thank you so much for appreciating my work. Actually yes, I asked one of an admin to review my edits to check if I'm eligible for adminship and then if he can nominate me but unfortunately, he was busy (am trying to find that conversation) but I still want someone who can nominate me so please take a look at my contribution and then if you find me eligible for the adminship I request you to nominate me for the adminship (if possible) and also please don't hesitate to correct me if I'm wrong somewhere. Yeah! about Wikipedia:WikiProject Punjab/Tab header/Tab I was a little confused to be honest because the page looked uncompleted to me. Thank you once again – GSS (talk|c|em) 18:26, 20 January 2017 (UTC)
I've had a bit more of a look. One possible issue is that while your standard of English is fine for normal communication (I assume you're a native Punjabi speaker, please accept my apologies if I've got that wrong), there are just a few too many mistakes on this talk page. (eg: "I asked one of an admin to review" -> "I asked an admin to review" or "I asked one of the admins to review") I don't see these problems obviously in any of the content you've created, though. Admins have to be excellent communicators, particularly when faced with someone upset at being blocked or having their work deleted. Plus in an RfA you will have to field questions and your answers have to be as well thought out as they can be. I think the best thing to do for now would be to file a poll at WP:ORCP and see what people think, then we'll review the situation. As you set up the introduction to the poll in your own words, that should alleviate these concerns. You have a clear need for the tools at CSD / AfD and could obviously help there; but admins get the entire toolset and responsibility for it, and that's what RfA voters will be looking out for. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 21:56, 20 January 2017 (UTC)
Yes, you are right I'm a native Punjabi speaker. I generally don't make this kind of mistakes while communicating with someone unless I'm in hurry like last night 😕 but I'll be more careful in future. I will go with WP:ORCP today and let's see if I can get a good response. Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 03:58, 21 January 2017 (UTC)
@Ritchie333: I just started the poll now let's hope for the best. Thank you for your suggestion. GSS (talk|c|em) 08:01, 21 January 2017 (UTC)
Looks like the poll has gone well, and the general agreement is that if we start an RfA in about 6 months it should succeed. That all sounds about right. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 13:19, 6 February 2017 (UTC)
Yes, I think we should go with the general agreement and wait for about 6 months. Face-smile.svg Thank you very much!GSS (talk|c|em) 14:27, 6 February 2017 (UTC)

Amnesty International India[edit]

Adding a quick message here re Amnesty International India. I noticed you tagged the article with potential COI. I'd like to clarify that my edits were not made with that purpose in the least - do please review it, and check the referencing again? I would appreciate that. Thanks Amnemonic (talk) 13:20, 29 January 2017 (UTC)

Hello Amnemonic, I applied the COI tag as per my outer-wiki research. The article not yet reviewed by anyone so I would like to wait till someone other than me look at it. Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 14:24, 29 January 2017 (UTC)
Hello, and thanks for reviewing the article. I fixed the sources which referenced the Amnesty India website (as you had identified) - and added a variety of external sources. I took the livberty of removing the self-published sources tag you had added to it, as I identified, edited and fixed each self-published problem you identified. Since your review is complete, and other editors have also had a chance to look at the article, could you revisit the COI tag? Thank you for your kind attention.Amnemonic (talk) 11:29, 30 January 2017 (UTC)

Tag bombing?[edit]

Regarding this[1], please read WP:RESPTAG specially the bold line "If you are going to put a tag on an article that proclaims it as seriously faulty, you should leave an explanation on the talk page of that article, even though the reasons seem plainly obvious to you." which will help to improve the page. --KartikeyaS343 (talk) 15:03, 29 January 2017 (UTC)

The explanation on the talk page is not necessary when the problem is obvious so I think you should consider on solving the issue rather than removing tags. Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 15:11, 29 January 2017 (UTC)
I removed only those inline tags where the claim is explicitly mentioned by the subject itself and in accordance with the guidelines. The explanation on the talk page is not necessary when the problem is obvious doesn't seem to comply what WP:RESPTAG states so I will request you again to read it. If you have any COI for this organization then please declare it on the article's talk page. Thank you. --KartikeyaS343 (talk) 15:17, 29 January 2017 (UTC)
This account is only 4 days old and already knows about WP:RESPTAG. I agree with the concerns that GSS raised. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 07:11, 1 February 2017 (UTC)
@Doc James: You read my mind! having knowledge of this kind of guidelines and the use reFill is very uncommon for a day old user. GSS (talk|c|em) 08:45, 1 February 2017 (UTC)
Would be useful for them to disclose other accounts they might have used. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 08:49, 1 February 2017 (UTC)
@Doc James:, @GSS-1987: - I see. I have been using Wikipedia since 2011 and I know basic guidelines or at least I can find them using WP prefix. New Page Review - newsletter No.2[edit]

Hello GSS-1987,
Wikipedia New page reviewer.svg
A HUGE backlog

We now have 462 New Page Reviewers!
Most of us requested the user right at PERM, expressing a wish to be able to do something about the huge backlog, but the chart on the right does not demonstrate any changes to the pre-user-right levels of October.

Hitting 17,000 soon

The backlog is still steadily growing at a rate of 150 a day or 4,650 a month. Only 20 reviews a day by each reviewer over the next few days would bring the backlog down to a managable level and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
It didn't work in time to relax for the Xmas/New Year holidays. Let's see if we can achieve our goal before Easter, otherwise by Thanksgiving it will be closer to 70,000.

Second set of eyes

Remember that we are the only guardians of quality of new articles, we alone have to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged by non-Reviewer patrollers and that new authors are not being bitten.

Abuse

This is even more important and extra vigilance is required considering Orangemoody, and

  1. this very recent case of paid advertising by a Reviewer resulting in a community ban.
  2. this case in January of paid advertising by a Reviewer, also resulting in a community ban.
  3. This Reviewer is indefinitely blocked for sockpuppetry.

Coordinator election[edit]

Kudpung is stepping down after 6 years as unofficial coordinator of New Page Patrolling/Reviewing. There is enough work for two people and two coords are now required. Details are at NPR Coordinators; nominate someone or nominate yourself. Date for the actual suffrage will be published later.

Regarding Amrut Deshmukh - Speedy Deletion. I have mentioned notable references like Rediff/Bay journal. It's a Social Cause, which Amrut has started. For the Youth of India to cultivate reading. Would request you to let this page go live. More than his 1lakh followers wish the same. Hello, Thank you for replying to me. But as you said, you need notable references, he has a mention in Rediff and Bayside Journal. And you can find many articles in Google. When you type Amrut Deshmukh. He is doing this for a national cause for making Youth Read and not taking a single penny. Would please request you to approve it and not delete the page. Would be thankful.

Riddhi1981 11:40, 8 February 2017 (UTC)

@Riddhi1981: I tried but can't find any independent coverage in reliable sources and I don't see Rediff and Bayside Journal as reliable. Find sources: "Amrut Deshmukh" – news · newspapers · books · scholar · HighBeam · JSTOR · free images · free news sources · The Wikipedia Library · NYT · WP referenceGSS (talk|c|em) 14:43, 8 February 2017 (UTC)

Hello,

thanks for getting back to me. He has lots of newspaper mentioned, but they are regional newspapers. Like Sakal, Lokmat. He also had an interview on IBN Lokmat Marathi channel and both Z 24 Taas - Hindi and Marathi. Unless you do not support the social cause, he won't be noted so soon. But soon he shall be. Please if I may request. He is doing this for non-profit and I guess such a person needed to be flourished. As you and me all want, Youth of India to read? Globally also people are noting his stint and downloading the app.

I would please request to accept it. I will be obliged, Sir.

Riddhi1981 09:52, 9 February 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Riddhi1981 (talk • contribs)

Hi again agreed, he has featured in Sakal Times English Newspaper, Random ink URL, Cyrus Broacha show.. Yes I agree but please consider the mentioned as notable references, please? I will be thankful

I'm so sorry Riddhi1981, The evidence to support notability is very weak at the moment so I can't change my decision please wait for the third opinion. Please click here to add your reply to keep this discussion in one section. Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 15:34, 9 February 2017 (UTC)

Sir, Globally it may be weak. But In India and in Maharashtra, it is gaining a strong foothold. I request you to please accept. Unless Wikipedia doesn't honor it, it won't be notable. And when yu google Amrut Deshmukh, you wold get 7-8 pages on him. Sir, youth of India wants him to flourish more than 1 lakh people. Someone sacrificing his professional life for the sake of masses and people writing blogs fo him. Cream of new like Z24taas, IBN Lokmat covering him on TV. Should give him some leverage on Notability. My humble request sir. As Wikipedia is a platform where, masses get more information on pathbreakers. And would be obliged if you could. Thanks Riddhi1981 04:45, 10 February 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Riddhi1981 (talk • contribs)

Sir, also once he gets notable references like into Times of India or Forbes or get his website. I shall keep updating the Wiki Page. Sir, you have to give us this chance. Please be kind Riddhi1981 11:10, 10 February 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Riddhi1981 (talk • contribs)

Why do you consistently undermine my efforts in improving wikipedia, I have extensive knowledge on the topic and irish rugby so unless you possess a great knowledge on the topic and the subject in question please stop reverting my edits as i am attempting to correctly re-write the page in a factual manner, the player does exist and will require a wikipedia page soon however the current layout is incorrect and requires editing. Armstrong Group of Companies and Armstrong Utilities Inc Wikipedia Pages[edit]

Hello.

I currently work for Armstrong Utilities which is part of Armstrong Group of Companies. Yesterday I made changes on both our pages and today they were erased. We own many companies (development, food, electronics etc) and prefer to keep the page separate from our service provider page (internet, cable etc).

The content from our Armstrong Group of Companies page has now been switched onto the Armstrong Utilities page and the original content that I needed to edit has been placed back onto our Armstrong Group of Companies page.

These two pages would be best to stand alone on Wikipedia, even though some of the information is the same, because they are representing two different parts of our company.

Thank you,

Question about Indian reliable sources[edit]

Btw, what do you think of the nominator's comments about how "Indian media cannot be trusted" at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Yamini (music festival)? I'm not asking you to comment on the merits of that particular article -- but is there a recognized endemic problem with "covert advertising," in your country's major papers, that you're aware of? Dear GSS-1987 you have reported my account. Please inform me the reasons why this action has been taken against me. I have only one account here. Speedy deletion declined: Joginder Tiwari[edit]

Hello GSS-1987. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Joginder Tiwari, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: He Plays Lead Roles is an assertion of importance - A7 doesn't apply. Thank you. ϢereSpielChequers 22:35, 6 March 2017 (UTC)

@WereSpielChequers: Thanks for letting me know but I have proposed it for deletion. No source to support his role in any of the film listed in the article. GSS (talk|c|em) 04:47, 7 March 2017 (UTC)
Sounds like a hoax then unless those are very obscure films. Just because A7 doesn't apply doesn't mean that other deletion reasons might not apply. ϢereSpielChequers 10:21, 7 March 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, it sound like a hoax and I just notice if you see the deletion log the article was deleted in 2016 as G3. GSS (talk|c|em) 10:34, 7 March 2017 (UTC)
Not a hoax; mentioned in the Times of India. However *Major generalization / stereotyping approaching!* bearing in mind the usual superlatives and hyperbole Indians use about their actors / film industry on a regular basis, removal of the (misleading) peacock language would have in turn justified that A7  :) take care! — O Fortuna! Imperatrix mundi. 10:51, 7 March 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the link Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi. GSS (talk|c|em) 11:01, 7 March 2017 (UTC)

Narendra Modi page can be replaced with Chaiwala?[edit]

User:GSS-1987 you have marked my article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arshad_Khan_(Chai_Wala) for delettion because it is related to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaiwala. I just want to clarify, Narendra Modi is also mentioned in the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaiwala, will you mark https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narendra_Modi for Deletion? You must know there is different between profession and person. My article is about a person, you can check his notability first. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Macrolancer (talk • contribs) 15:14, 9 March 2017 (UTC)

@Macrolancer: First please calm down and take a deep breath for a moment. I nominate your article for deletion because it's a copy of an article we already have Arshad Khan (model) which is a redirect to Chaiwala#Notable persons as per the result of this AfD debate and I'm so sorry we can not delete an article on government officials. Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 15:30, 9 March 2017 (UTC)
User:GSS-1987 I am not in angry mode. But I talking about the similarity of these two topic. I hope you understand you are confused on a person and profession. My article is about a person and you are claiming it as a part of a profession. This is same if there is a page name "cricker" and you delete "Sachin Tandulkar's page because he is cricker hence cannot have extra page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Macrolancer (talk • contribs) 16:25, 9 March 2017 (UTC)
Your comment above clearly showing who is confused so please read my comment once again to understand why I tagged your article for speedily deletion and take some time to read Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Arshad Khan (model) (2nd nomination). Please sign your posts in future by typing four tildes (like this ~~~~) at the end of your comments. GSS (talk|c|em) 16:34, 9 March 2017 (UTC)

CSD declined[edit]

Hi GSS. I wanted to let you know that I declined your CSD nomination for Arshad Khan (Chai Wala). I assume you can't see the article as it was when it was deleted at the previous AfD, but the article today looks fundamentally different to my eyes. It also contains many new citations, many of which seem to be from reputable sources and appear to confer notability. If you think this article should be deleted it should probably be reconsidered at AfD. Regards Basalisk inspect damageberate 18:12, 9 March 2017 (UTC)

@Basalisk: You are right I'm unable to see the deleted article but I clearly remember the contents which are almost same as this newly created version e.g. Viral photo, signing possible non-notable film which falls under WP:NFF, signed a modeling contract with a non-notable modeling agency and all this issues has been already discussed at AfD Arshad Khan (model) (2nd nomination) and the result was delete and redirect. I will definitely take it to AfD back again as I still believe it's WP:TOOSOON for a stand alone article becasue the subject clearly fails to pass WP:ENTERTAINER and WP:NACTOR. I appreciate if you can please explain which sources are new so I can take a look if they support our general notability guidlines. Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 05:35, 10 March 2017 (UTC)

Rapper Maddy Deletion Removal[edit]

Please search for rapper maddy in google there is Google search for him. and he is well known Indian and International singer! you should just take an action without knowing that person or thing! how can you just submit for deletion without knowing who is that person!

that article has been reviewed by wikipedia and now you are submitting it for deletion.. ?

Pannesingh Nagar[edit]

Hello, GSS-1987 Please talk to me how to improve orpan tags on Pannesingh Nagar and others. (LIKE RZZ 15:00, 22 March 2017 (UTC))

Hello, Likerzz. An article is called an "orphan" if there are no other Wikipedia articles that link to it. Looking at your article, which I assume is Pannesingh Nagar, click on the link "Find link tool" or "What links here" under "Tools" on the left-hand side. This will give you a list of all the other articles which are linked to this article. In this case, there are no articles; just User pages, project pages and a redirect. In order to eliminate the Orphan tag, first fix that problem: what other articles should properly link to this one? Edit them to incorporate that link. Once those are in place, the Orphan tag can be removed. To understand better please follow the instructions on how to de-orphan articles here. GSS (talk|c|em) 15:25, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

After this message gets delivered, we'll wait for 7 days before we start a discussion under a thread on the collaboration's talk page, among the members. Speedy Deletion for Mohit Malhotra[edit]

Hi GSS-1987, this is pertaining to the speedy deletion request raised by you for Mohit Malhotra (CEO) of Dabubr International. I have cited various references and the also checked the earlier article in deleted wiki and found out that it was not written as a neutral article, i have written it as a neutral bystander. Provided the legitimate and verified citations from well known sources. The article is about the Indian leader and a well known CEO in International Business circuit. Please let me know if you want me to move it to a Draft page for you so it will not be deleted while you are working to add sources and establish notability. Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 07:52, 27 March 2017 (UTC)
Sure, that sounds good. I saw the previous article on Deleted Wiki actually, and it did not cite credible references, i have in turn added credible references for everything added on the account. Hi, the page was already deleted? Chin2to (talk) 12:01, 27 March 2017 (UTC)
@Chin2to: You can create the article in your user space User:Chin2to/Mohit Malhotra, where it is in your user space, and only you would work on it, or you can use our draft sapce Draft:Mohit Malhotra, where it is in draft space, and theoretically others could too. However, you can't move it back to article space until someone has reviewed it and agreed that the article can be added. Please consider this carefully: before you spend very much time working on it, please make sure you honestly believe it can eventually be made to meet the requirements of WP:BIO, our inclusion criteria for biographies. Feel free to ask questions here, or at the Teahouse, a friendly forum for newcomers. GSS (talk|c|em) 14:57, 27 March 2017 (UTC)

Regarding proposal for removal of: Vaibhav Yadav[edit]

Hey,

I saw that you put a consideration for removal tag on my article about Vaibhav Yadav. I wanted to know despite all the facts being true and valid what is the issue. I am new to this platform thus I request you to assist me.

Thank You

Anita — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anitakumari1970 (talk • contribs) 12:27, 2 April 2017 (UTC)

Hello Anitakumari1970 and welcome to Wikipedia. I proposed your article for deletion because I failed to find any significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject to pass our general notability guideline so If you have independent third party sources, please provide them and also read WP:N for more about what makes something notable for inclusion on Wikipedia. Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 13:29, 2 April 2017 (UTC)

Hello Sir, I just expanded the article based on my true knowledge and real facts. What I have mentioned is true and I can vouch for that, all I request for you is to go through it and remove the tag for deletion. Your supervision and assistance is very much appreciated and expected.

regards,

@Anitakumari1970: I just reviewed the sourced and surprisingly none of the source is discussing about the subject. Please don't forget to sign your posts in future by typing four tildes (like this ~~~~) at the end of your comment. Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 07:33, 5 April 2017 (UTC)

Jayanta Roy[edit]

Hi GSS-1987, You have nominated this page for deletion. But Jayanta Roy is a notable composer in West Bengal. This page is significant and should be in wikipedia. Roy has worked with National Award Winning Singer Rupankar Bagchi who is very much famous public figure in West Bengal. He worked with Gopika Goswami who has done playback in many highly popular bengali films such as Jamai 420, Shororipu, Not a Dirty Film, Sathiya. Sundeep Gosswami (who has sung Dil Kyun on Roy's compostion) has worked singer and music director as Sundeep-Surya (previously was known as Sandeep-Surya) duo in Bollywood movies such as Bhindi Baazaar Inc., Blue Mountains (2017 film) and Suraj Jagan, Roop Kumar Rathod, Sadhana Sargam, Tochi Raina have sung on his composition. Roy also worked as painter in Tui Bolle Project ( an Indo- Bangladeshi relationship project) with one of the top artist of Bangladesh Shayan Chowdhury Arnob.Jiami (talk) 19:00, 2 April 2017 (UTC)

K. A. Paul[edit]

Hi - I don't know if this is on your watchlist or if you caught it last time on pending changes, but a new editor is making a mess of the article. Not just removing critical material which might have been too old to keep anyway, but moving references out of the reference section, removing all the sources that say Paul is a naturalized US citizen, etc. I've posted to his talk page but I could use some help with this newbie. Thanks. 11:21, 4 April 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Doug Weller (talk • contribs)

49.205.1.217 Please do not remove well-sourced contents from the article. Judging from your comment above, you have obviously done so out of disbelief of what you see and read. Karuppu Raja Vellai Raja[edit]

Yes, I'm serious. You claimed that this article, with content from 2017, was a repost of content deleted in 2016; anyone can see that this is impossible. Unless you have solid evidence that an article is a repost, and unless you have checked to ensure that there is no evidence (e.g. what I'm citing here) that it is not, do not tag for G4. Nyttend (talk) 05:25, 7 April 2017 (UTC)

@Nyttend: Well the AfD was closed four months back (November 2016) and all available sources in the article were published in October 2016 except this so how it survive G4? GSS (talk|c|em) 05:34, 7 April 2017 (UTC)

Tune Mere Jaana (Emptiness)[edit]

@GSS-1987: I seek your help about one of my created article Tune Mere Jaana(Emptiness) which has been redirected due to lack of notability. But I am sure that it fulfills every criteria of notability for a song to have an article. I has lots of significant sources and coverages. And also as an Indian I know its notable enough. Please help in this regard if you can. Jiami (talk) 07:47, 7 April 2017 (UTC)

@Jiami: I just saw the article and I am not sure if it meets our standard for notability but if you feel that the topic is notable enough and you want to spend more time developing it, I suggest you go through the article for creation process which allows you time to work on the article and also gives people with more experience a chance to comment on what else might be needed to make a valid article so if this sounds good to you, you can ask me or make a request at WP:RQM to move your article to draft space without leaving a redirect behind. Pinging KDS4444 to share his opinion. Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 11:00, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
@GSS-1987: Thank you very much for your kind reply. I shall wait for the opinion of KDS4444 as the song fulfills WP:NSONG and then I would request you to help me give the priviledge to redevelop this. Regards. Jiami (talk) 12:09, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
User:GSS-1987 hit the nail on the head. Now then, if you are certain the song is notable, and you live in a place where you are able to "sense" its notability, then what is needed in order to retain a standalone article is evidence of this song's notability— not merely discussion of the song in the course of an article about the artist or the album but discussion of the song itself, and such evidence needs to come from what appear to be reliable independent sources. My decision to redirect may have been preemptive: the word "tune" needs to be removed from the article namesapce regardless. (and thank you to User: GSS-1987 for pinging me). KDS4444 (talk) 12:22, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
User:KDS4444 Thanks for your opinion. The word "tune" doesn't mean here the english word "tune". Its a Hindi language word meaning "you". And as the title of the articles were with the word "emptiness" and the album name is also emptiness, so you might have thought that the news coverage was about the album. But actually the song itself is known as emptiness being the title song of the album and the articles were about the song, not the album. Thats why the song name is Tune mere jaana (Emptiness) as its popular as Emptiness. Regards. Jiami (talk) 13:53, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
Fair enough. In that case, the article needs to be renamed to simply "Tune mere jaana" or "Tune Mere Jaana" with no parenthetical disambiguation (because such is not necessary as there are no other articles with this same name). KDS4444 (talk) 15:32, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
@KDS4444: If I do that name change, I would probably deprive many people who would search in name of Emptiness . The song is titled as "Tune Mere Jaana (Emptiness)" also because it has two parts in itself, one on Hindi and one on English. Also many newspapers coverages, which I found on search, used the name emptiness for the song. So, if I use only Tune Mere Jaana as name, when I shall give some reference using "Empiness" as the name of the news article, some of users will think that those are coverages of the album, not the song itself as they woudn't know at first site that the song contains both the names together just like you were confused. Probably, ipso facto, it was already named as "Tune Mere Jaana (Emptiness) in the artist's article already. Thanks & Regards. Jiami (talk) 16:21, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
Are you aware you can also make an entry at Emptiness (disambiguation) for this song? And also, shouldn't this entire conversation be happening on the talk page for the article rather than this editor's personal talk page? KDS4444 (talk) 16:37, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
@KDS4444: You suggest what should be done. If you think that name should be changed, I'll. You are experienced enough regarding wiki editing. I just shared my views as author of the article. Jiami (talk) 16:59, 7 April 2017 (UTC)

Sock alert[edit]

I came across a sock farm from one of your deletion tags, Sandhya2012 is the master, I've also blocked a couple of socks that were used to re-create deleted articles. You may want to take a deeper look, there are likely more socks at other articles. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 06:10, 31 May 2017 (UTC)

Also, check for copyvios, most of the content I deleted is direct copy from BollywoodHungama etc —SpacemanSpiff 06:22, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
SpacemanSpiff: Yeah I knew that from last night when Sandhya2012 recreated Aarti Rana. I'm sure it's a group of undisclosed paid editors who use different accounts to recover their deleted articles so for sure I will take a deeper look and let you know if I found anything. Cheers – GSS (talk|c|em) 06:42, 31 May 2017 (UTC)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────SpacemanSpiff can you please compare the deleted article Chauhar earlier created by Sandhya2012 with recreated by Amirk94391 to check whether the contents were same or not. Amirk94391 recreated the article exactly 2 days after of its deletion. Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 07:28, 31 May 2017 (UTC)

Looks a bit different and unlikely to be the same person's work, but I found another likely sock through this chase you sent me on.

Nomination of Kanishk Sajnani for deletion[edit]

You say that "Appears to be a case of WP:BLP1E, the subject also lacks "significant independent coverage" in reliable sources and therefore fails the general notability guideline"

I've added 11 citations to the article. 10 are from very well know Indian news agencies. How do you say that the subject lacks significant independent coverage? His name & work are clearly mentioned in each one of them. Infact,he's the main(& only) subject in all of them.

WP:BLP1E The person maybe covered under a single event but the event is itself very significant(Hacking into Government & private airlines, Travel portals). Wikipedia says that a person maybe notable in such a case. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sanghvi940940 (talk • contribs) 18:40, 2 June 2017 (UTC)
@Sanghvi940940: Wikipedia is not news, or an indiscriminate collection of information. "Being in the news does not in itself mean that someone should be the subject of a Wikipedia article." Per WP:BLP1E: "reliable sources cover the person only in the context of a single event", "that person otherwise remains, and is likely to remain, a low-profile individual", "the event is not significant", we should generally avoid having an article on them. ... In such cases, it is usually better to merge the information and redirect the person's name to the event article. Also bringing Huon's attention who declined your submission for Draft:Kanishk Sajnani a week ago with the same reason. GSS (talk|c|em) 19:33, 2 June 2017 (UTC)

@Wangyingge: Yes, this is what I said on your talk page that the article Tan Jianci was redirected to the band article by Drmies due to notability issues so if you think the subject deserves an article then please use article talk page (Talk:Tan Jianci) to resolve disagreements instead of recreating duplicate articles under different titles. Issues with a page[edit]

Hi GSS-1987

A misunderstanding has happened between me and another user as we have created two pages about the same subject. This two pages have been subjected to interventions of some admins and the result is that, i think, you have devinitively redirected one page to the other. This could be good but the result is in a page poor in content as of the different cuts of the admins.

Do you think that i could update the surviving page with relevant content respecting the wikipedia guidelines and the relevance of the subject?

Thank you

Massimo Ivaldi

Here the links to the two pages:

The page Rajdweep (playwright and lyricist) should not be deleted.[edit]

Hello. Thanks and I want to inform that Rajdweep is an Indian lyricist. He writes songs for Assamese films and theatres. @Axomiya deka: You created this article twice under different titles Rajdweep (writer) and Rajdweep (playwright and lyricist). First you recreated as Rajdweep (writer) the same day after Fabrictramp deleted and salted Rajdweep created by user Rajdweep4u and then after SpacemanSpiff speedied Rajdweep (writer) you recreated under Rajdweep (playwright and lyricist) so my question is why not Rajdweep (writer) again? Why you chooses a new title? I also notice after Rajdweep (playwright and lyricist) you also removed the speedy notice including COI notice from you talk page? at last why you are signing as parthsar129? can you please explain all this? Notability Suggestions Nipun Jaswal[edit]

SSA GSS-1987 Veer G, Thank you for helping me out at the discussion. Veer G, I have checked the subject of the page for notability and found few links which i would like to share and suggest. Here are the stats 121 Links on Google Scholar for "Mastering Metasploit" book authored by the subject and on searching the subject you will see that resarch papers from IEEE and ResearchGate as on following Citations. Moreover, searching on Google Books with the subject name returns 5990 results. Bhaji, my question is say one is an author, are these number of links, citations in research organisations, scholar etc are good enough to establish notability? also, i have searched amazon.in the current rank of subject's books in computer security best sellers are 63 and 73 and bhaji i am a punjabi from jalandhar region and work in computer and cyber security my only interest connecting to you this way is that you are a punjabi and subject under review is also a punjabi. Thankyou paaji Rafiq Marbaros (talk) 08:12, 9 July 2017 (UTC)

@Rafiqmarbaros: The sources you provided above does not establish notability and to pass general notability guideline you must cite third party reliable sources that address the topic directly and in details. Sorry to ask, but have too at this point, how did you get to know about this AfD? because it was your second edit after registration, do you have any COI for this article? If so, you should reveal that immediately so that it can be taken into consideration, you talk about this subject as though you are personally invested in it somehow. If so, can you talk a little about how? Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 11:32, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
@GSS-1987: I work in the same field and have read his books. Moreover, I found this page while searching for the his latest book so i made a search on his name at google the very second link was from wikipedia and the first one was Linkedin. But as soon as i saw the page there was a message saying that the page is being considered for deletion. I don't know how much you know about digging into internet the way cyber security researchers do, we call it OSINT. I started exploring and found your world class profile. Being a punjabi and doing such an amazing work, i wanted to learn from you. Even i opened your page several times. Looking at your profile as an inspiration, i dwelled more into editing articles since i can find information with supreme ease and started editing articles, i have also provided references to some of the articles which were missing proper references. But since it all started on the day when i made a search and potentially due to which i joined here, i thought it would be good if i can find few references for him. You have gigs of experience here, you definitely know much better if he deserves a page or not. Also, answering your question, if i know him personally? No! I have once been an audience to his talk in Bangalore and that was it but never got a chance to meet him personally. New Page Reviewer Newsletter[edit]

Hello GSS-1987, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!
Wikipedia New page reviewer.svg

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 18,511 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a a day.
  • Some editors are committing to work specifically on patrolling new pages on 15 July. If you have not reviewed new pages in a while, this might be a good time to be involved. Please remember that quality of patrolling is more important than quantity, that the speedy deletion criteria should be followed strictly, and that ovetagging for minor issues should be avoided.

Technology update:

  • Several requests have been put into Phabractor to increase usability of the New Pages Feed and the Page Curation toolbar. For more details or to suggest improvements go to Wikipedia:Page Curation/Suggested improvements
  • The tutorial has been updated to include links to the following useful userscripts. If you were not aware of them, they could be useful in your efforts reviewing new pages:

Confusion with vishal mishra[edit]

I recently had edited a page which was under this link - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vishal_Mishra the page was removed by you with the message below - #REDIRECT Coffee with D

now the problem is that you are mixing this vishal mishra ( Singer and music director ) with another guy called vishal mishra who is related to (Coffee with D)

please help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thefinalmiracle (talk • contribs) 15:26, 4 August 2017 (UTC)

@Thefinalmiracle: I have reverted your edit to Vishal Mishra because you overwrite existing content about a different topic. If you wish to create an article about the musician, please create it at Draft:Vishal Mishra (musician). However, before you do so, please review Wikipedia's guide to writing your first article and WP:COI if you are creating about yourself, family, friends, clients, employers, or your financial and other relationships. If you need any help you can ask me here. Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 07:10, 5 August 2017 (UTC)
