Mariah Carey is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and actress. She made her debut in 1990 with her self-titled studio album under the guidance of Columbia Records executive Tommy Mottola and became the first artist to have their first five singles top the US Billboard Hot 100. She achieved worldwide success with her albums, Music Box (1993) and Daydream (1995), and began incorporating hip-hop with R&B with the release of Butterfly (1997) and Rainbow (1999). With Island Records, she achieved success with the album The Emancipation of Mimi (2005) and its accompanying single, "We Belong Together". She holds the record for the most Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles by a solo artist, a female songwriter, and a female producer. Carey is known for her five-octave vocal range, melismatic singing style, and signature use of the whistle register. (Full article...)

  • Reasons for nomination: 55th birthday
  • Support as nominator. RMXY (talk • contribs) 03:45, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support having this as TFA on March 27th would be quite fitting for her upcoming birthday. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 03:54, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose article would not pass FAC in current state. Suggest waiting until 60th birthday (which is a more notable anniversary than 55th) to re-run the article as TFA, after which improvements would have been made. Heartfox (talk) 00:16, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: I suggest this TFAR should be withdrawn and the article will have to be re-assessed via WP:FAR. RMXY (talk • contribs) 13:29, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment @Heartfox and RapMonstaXY: Can you post your specific concerns for this article on the talk page? This is the first step in the FAR process and allows editors to address the concerns. Thanks! Z1720 (talk) 15:53, 12 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
